Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
http://www.fox19.com/story/29166644/cincinnati-among-top-staycation-spots The takeaway is that the Skywheel will be something else to do for out-of-town visitors coming to the area. It's uniqueness alone will help it be successful. The location on the river, across from one of the nation's most scenic skylines is ideal. Cincinnati is considered a "family friendly" area. This will be attractive to them and kids will be asking to ride it. And yes, from a purely photographic perspective, another nice addition to the skyline. Plus the new 25-story Cincinnati Skyhouse building coming soon across the river from Newport will only enhance our wonderful skyline. I don't understand the negativity...sorry. However, this is a forum that's opinion-based so....that's great.

Looks like they DID place a red FAA warning light on the top of the "tiara" ----- figured so since it's over 500ft.

Fool me once....guess they did! Oh well, still glad we have this new building in our city (with or without flagpole). LOL

Ok, I'll "take the bait" and start another "how tall is it" conversation. Now, with the flagpole, will the TOTAL height be nearer to 700'? I guess with the tiara topping the building at 665' a 35 foot flagpole on top would bring the building to near 700' .....OR am I missing something and it's all just moot? NOTE: Not sure how tall flagpoles go on top of bigger skyscrapers but would assume a fairly large one.

Ditto! On to The Banks :-)

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Looking at all of the forums, websites, etc. I still can't fully determine if this new office building is part of Phase I and currently under construction. Looking at the "official" The Banks website it seems to indicate yes. However, I'm not sure if Phase I is actually a number of smaller "phases" or not? http://www.thebankscincy.com/office.aspx?SiteMapNodeId=832cd1bc-3f68-4adb-ace1-1981933cb30f Any thoughts and/or confirmation? This 15-story tower would look nice down there - sooner than later, of course.

Yes. Every rendering I have seen of the completed tower clearly show the lower portion of the "tiara" covered and including the company logo. All of the HVAC stuff is completed and nicely concealed. Look closely....

Stunning photos and perspective. Thanks!

Not weird at all. I was wondering the same exact thought. If we know where on the existing crane (at what "marker" per say) it would provide a great indication of the final height. Anyone care to answer? Much appreciated.

Nice, very nice. When can we see the "view from the top"? :D

Say what you will but other cities in our region (Columbus, Dayton, Louisville, Indianapolis, Lexington, etc.) wish they had something this beautiful to compliment their skylines. QCSII places our skyline light years ahead of these cities. The only city with a more dynamic skyline would be Pittsburgh. We are very fortunate to have a new skyscraper built in this economy and I, for one, am thankful to W&S for making it happen.

Lighting choices should be interesting: 1.) lighting from within the "tiara" outward or lighting from the outside looking inside 2.) lighting with LED (more versatile/economical) or traditional lighting source The prevailing thought is that they will light the entire top of the building since they are using white-colored steel (as seen in previous photos) for the top which should reflect color extremely well. Note: My thoughts here are mostly guesses - would appreciate anyone who can verify official QCSII lighting plan (if indeed finalized and ready for public knowledge).

rounded up to 665'. End of discussion and moving on.....

Agree. With current size/height of most downtown buildings a skyscraper of over 800' would stick out like a sore thumb - a very large....well, you know
