Cleveland: Best Kept Secrets!
Neat thing about it is that you can go in there and study if you want to. At least you could when I was a student. No one ever asked me for a membership card or anything like that.

CLEVELAND - the Westshore 'burbs (Westlake, Bay Village, Rocky River, Lakewood)
Wow, such a wierd mix of feelings. A little bit of Miami, New England, Canada (with that pocket park), Lake Michigan.... all in one place!

CLEVELAND - Go Go a Whiskey
Damn, MayDay you make Cleveland look good. Love the iron curtain bridge framed pictures at Wendy Park. As the flats east bank project is completed this is going to rival Edgewater Park as a photo spot.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Hey, with Cuyahoga County sales taxes up by 2%, does that mean RTA is heading out of the woods?

Very perceptive, and correct.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
He can't be that ignorant and niether can all the other Republicans. That is why I smell something fishy here. As you all know, an ODOT manager was caught red handed taking bribes from some bridge repaining contractors about a year ago.

Cleveland & Akron Inter-City Relations
Here is another take that I don't think is off topic. CWRU has one of the top biomedical engineering program in the nation. U of A has one of if not the top polymer engineering program in the nation and CWRU is no slouch in materials science either. Kent state has an excellent chemistry department and the Liquid Crystals Institute or whatever it is called is a premier research and development institute in its field. CSU has an emerging physics department and CWRU is good in this area as well. Toss in NASA Glenn and why don't we bring in some subtantial NSF money with some sort of joint reseach consortium a la Research Triangle? Parochialism?

California is bleeding companies. Washington State is starting to bleed companies. It started with Boeing last year. A lot of small companies are moving to Idaho!

Nothing here to assist RTA with any of its intermodal plans?

US Economy: News & Discussion
All of this speculation boom/bust cycle would end if we eliminated the mortgage tax deduction. Lots of counties (e.g. Canada) do not and never did have it and they do just fine. Also, it is extremely regressive with the renters subsidizing the home owners.

Peebles, Ohio
Why is it that some towns are so bereft (sp?) of trees? I see a few new ones planted but where are the 100 year old elms, maples and oaks?

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Boreas, if I lived in that part of the country I would join you. I once did the Mountail Loop Highway here in WA state self-contained. Imagine that, Boreas and Tedolph on a multi-day bicycle tour, sharing a tent together at night. Wait a minute, isn't there something about the lion and the lamb, the end times, etc.

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
On another note, CWRU has been particularly sucessfull in producing Nobel Leaurates in science, both as graduates and faculty members-all out of porportion with its size.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
This is wierd. Why is OCA so afraid of rail? Most contractors would be chomping at the bit to get a bite of $400 million in federal dolars. This makes me suspicious that highway contracting is somehow vastly more profitable than rail contracting. Of course, the market makes such profit disparities in mature markets impossible so what is left? Something illegal?
