Xavier University Musketeers Athletics Discussion
XU is getting somewhere around $2,000,000 from AZ b/c of Sean's buyout. The contract is generally meaningless aside from laying out base compensation since employment can be terminated at any time either by XU or Sean. It's common courtesy for athletic directors to ask their counterparts for permission to speak to their coach, but there's nothing written in stone about it. Mack, Mack, Mack, Mack, Mack....

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
No, this is a very real and significant threat in the area around Findlay Market. I vote to delay any further streetcar efforts until we can find a permanent solution to the threat that Findlay Market produce poses to the Streetcar system. Seconded?

Xavier University Musketeers Athletics Discussion
Sean has now turned down two of the most storied programs in NCAA Division I basketball - first IU, now AZ - to stay at Xavier. Sean Miller is the greatest basketball coach Xavier, or this city has ever seen. Next year, a Final Four is a distinct possibility probability.

Goodyear & Glendale AZ - Spring Training Facilities - Reds/Indians Dodgers/Sox
I firmly believe baseball should NOT be played in the desert. But if it is, then Camelback Ranch is the way to do it. With the brown beams, that stadium really embraces its environment in a way that very few baseball fields do. I like it.

Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
This is completely different. It's one thing to dedicate an entire facility to IMAX movies, quite another to convert one theater. I'm sure the hordes of trekies who will be camping out for weeks to see the new Star Trek in IMAX will practically pay for the conversion themselves.

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
If I'm not mistaken, that is just a type of brick veneer. Interesting....wonder how much it would be to peel that back and throw some big windows on it. Doubt these 'preservationists' would go for it. Anything that would take away from the architectural 'significance' of that 7 story blank wall would probably be frowned on...

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
As much as I hate the Terrace architecturally, I don't want to see it torn down. One thing they did right was put street level retail in and that needs to be preserved. I agree that the top could be turned into some pretty sweet condo's. Just not sure what you can do with stories 2-7 (estimation) that are just a solid brick wall on the outside. The movie theater is a good suggestion, but the only other thing I can think of is a department store....Maybe parking?

As a current Kentucky resident you have to take all of this with a grain of salt. The 'tucky' people like to make fun of is the parts of Kentucky outside of the 'Golden Triangle' (yes, this is a real term, never heard of it before I moved here). The area between Lexington, Louisville and NKY is as wealthy as anywhere else in the country (well, not the coasts, but you get what I mean). People are going to think what they want, no helping that.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Unfortunately parents don't like parading their kids by the 3 dozen homeless who currently hang out in that park. As long as the drop inn center and the like stay where they're at, those poor folks will keep hanging out in the park. Dispersing the social services that are concentrated in OTR should be at the top of the city's list. IMHO, OTR will never reach it's true potential as long as they are there.

I don't have any hard numbers, though I'm sure somebody can provide them, but Mallory is probably one of the most popular mayor's we've had in a long time. He has his detractors (NAACP), but the yp crowd and most of the city stakeholders love the guy.

No way they bring Sheffield in. Not only is he a complete jerk, he's also north of 40 and coming off a terrible year last year - sans 'roids. Memo to anybody thinking about picking up Sheff: You don't get better at this age He's getting $14,000,000 from Detroit not to play this year. Time to hang 'em up guy.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
So is this a case of the Cincinnati Po not having an updated address list? Or the owners of this fine estalishment not having a clue? I sure hope it's not the latter. Makes you wonder how successful this place will be if management can't even put a real address on their liquor application.

Relocating from KC to Cincinnati
Based on your ages I would say Clifton would be the best fit. Either Clifton proper around Ludlow or Clifton Heights between the university and OTR. Lots of stuff going on, tons of young people, and cheap rent (esp in Clifton Heights). Mt Lookout and Oakley can get pretty pricey for renters, though both are fantastic neighborhoods with great central business districts.

Great season. This was supposed to be the transition from the great Elite 8 team and they go all the way to the Sweet 16. Couldn't be prouder. That said, next year is going to be THE YEAR. Let's go tall Sean: C Frease PF Love SF Brown SG Jackson PG Crawford Bring it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I agree 100%. Not every building has to be an architectural masterpiece, and not all of them should be. The Banks is more about the neighborhood, and framing the river, ballparks, and yes - even the Freedom Center. The one thing that does worry me in that photo is the squat 2 story on the corner next to the tall office building.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Mabley Place (formerly Tower Place Mall)
Tower Place eyes radical remake http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090324/BIZ01/303240006/1001/BIZ In an effort to save one of the nation’s last downtown malls, the owners of Tower Place are considering some radically new tenants: a super market, a movie theater, space for a live cooking show and an interactive museum.

Nice photos. Brings back some memories. I grew up on Anderson Ferry Rd in Delhi and rode the ferry pretty often as a kid. It was the quickest way for us west siders to get to the airport.
