NYC - Spring Break 2011 - Battery Park and the Staten Island Ferry
You're now contaminated! Stay away from Manhattan and Shaker Square, you walking Petri dish! No need to worry, I went straight to the hotel after and took a shower, Manhattan is safe. Plus, the terminal is like a neutral zone, safe from contamination. Also, what is this Shaker Square you speak of? Do you mean Shaker Circle? Why would I want to go there? ;)

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
I was on facebook and I read this girl's status that said, "It really annoys me that Columbus has bike lanes and it really annoys me that people feel the need to use them! There is a sidewalk for a reason.. SMH," and there were comments that talked about how her and her friend just ignore the bike lanes (and drive in them I guess) and the girl responded, "I hate them! And honking does not make them move!!" I know that this wasn't me overhearing anything, I just wanted to share this. This girl is so stupid and I am so glad that my cousin broke up with her because I can now unfriend her.

Other States: Passenger Rail News
mrnyc - We all wish that a certain state had the vision that Illinois and other, progressive states do, but that state doesn't and is just providing one more reason for people in my demographic to move out of said state. Regarding the Court Square Station; that's great news, I was wondering what the construction was for when I was in NYC and used the 7 daily. That reminds me, I need to get my NYC pics posted.

Grill opening in Mansfield carousel district Written by Lou Whitmire MANSFIELD -- A new restaurant will open soon in the Carrousel District, at a site that historically has been a barometer of sorts for the local economy. The City Grille is scheduled to open by the end of June in the former Brant's Bistro site, 37 E. Fourth St., according to owners Melissa Banks and Bobby Petrovski, of Mansfield. Banks said the restaurantwill offer casual dining and be open for dinner initially. Jamie Thompson, co-director of Downtown Mansfield Inc., said, "It's very exciting to see entrepreneurs following their dreams and opening new businesses downtown. Downtown as a whole has not been as affected as other areas of our community as far as the economy goes. Read More...

Mansfield council approves Volunteers of America site Written by Linda Martz MANSFIELD -- The Volunteers of America may now approach the City Planning Commission to seek approval on specifics of its plan to move to a new $3 million halfway house facility on Mansfield's far north side. Opponents of the project vented their frustration after city council voted 5 to 2 Tuesday to allow correctional facilities to be built on industrially zoned land in that area. Council declined to give the issue three readings before taking its vote. Read More... Mansfield shifts funding for Community Development Block Grants Written by Linda Martz MANSFIELD -- With the City of Mansfield's Community Development Block Grant allocation shrinking further, city council this week tried to come to a consensus on whether to set aside almost all remaining funds for city-operated programs, or share some with nonprofit groups. Council members reached a compromise plan Monday, then approved that plan Tuesday. Earlier this year, working with no final figure for Mansfield's 2011 allocation, council came up with a tentative plan to divide a projected $993,357 among 14 projects. Read More...

^I think that a pedestrian bridge could work well. Also, I would propose that the current parking garage be extended to the south and over High Street and to turn High Street into the valet area (like the New York Marriot Marquis valet area).
