Pedestrian friendly? I disagree. You would have to cross Detroit and West Blvd, and with those generous curb cuts that is not that pleasant. I suppose you could walk down Detroit, past Cudell Rec, cross West Blvd, and then cross the widest section of Detroit, but then you have to walk through a parking lot/bus cul-de-sac. That's not a pleasant walk either. *Edited to add: Plus the lanes are super wide here and traffic speeds by.

Cleveland: Recommend Mexican Restaurant on west side similar to MiPueblo
^Those aren't Mexican; Pupuseria la Bendicion and Miramar are Salvadoran and Rincon Criollo is Puerto Rican. I mean, similar foods can be found, but they are different. I only bring up the distinction because the OP asked for "authentic" Mexican food. With that said I do like those restaurants, especially Pupuseria la Bendicion. However, for good Mexican food that's cheap Las Dos Fronteras is great and I guess is pretty "authentic," although I don't like that term.

^Sounds like the owner of the diner was being stubborn/unwilling to come to terms with the building's owner. The article mentions that there are plans for a new restaurant in that space and that the owner of the diner will be moving their operation elsewhere.

yanni_gogolak[/member] - Yeah, and there are new(ish) townhouses that sold for that much. I think better, denser infill development should be going into that neighborhood. Not to mention, there are plenty of homes that could be bought and rehabbed for that amount of money, shouldn't that be more of a priority in our city? Especially since we have so many vacant houses?

Not sure how these really fall in line with the tiny house movement as they aren't that "tiny" and are really expensive, comparatively. But, to each their own. Two tiny houses will hit the market in Cleveland's Detroit Shoreway in June CLEVELAND, Ohio – A local builder aims to start construction in the spring on two tiny houses on Cleveland's west side, in a project that might offer a template for modest – and relatively affordable – new homes in popular city neighborhoods. Sutton Development Group will build the houses, each 583 square feet, on a vacant lot at West 58th Street and Pear Avenue. Construction is scheduled to wrap up by mid-June. The houses could be listed for sale at $125,000 to $150,000 each. A collaboration between a neighborhood nonprofit, Citizens Bank and Sutton, the houses will be the first such freestanding, permanent, pint-sized dwellings built in the city at a time when TV shows like "Tiny House Hunters" have helped create a cult following for smaller-than-average living.

Residence Inn hotel added to reconfigured Innova apartment project in Cleveland CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Fewer, and smaller apartments. And roughly 160 hotel rooms. That's the gist of reconfigured plans for the second phase of the Innova building, which stretches along Chester Avenue in Cleveland's Hough neighborhood, just north of the Cleveland Clinic's main campus. Developer Wes Finch is collaborating with DelMonte Hotel Group on an eastward expansion of Innova, a 177-unit apartment building that opened last year.

Cleveland: Zoning Discussion
^Although it is not the ideal way to start implementing a form based code, it is a way to start creating areas that can be used as case studies for an eventual overhaul of the zoning code. I don't believe that the planning commission can just unilaterally change the code themselves, I think that requires getting city council on board. With that said, the overlay will trump existing zoning codes...the existing code will only apply to things not covered by the overlay (at least that is my understanding). I think the planning commission is taking a more piecemeal approach to avoid the headaches that occurred in Cincinnati (build more political support) and because, unlike other states that have changed to a form based code, Ohio does not have enabling legislation that would support such a change.

As far as I know, it's DSCDO/Gordon Square who initiated the meters and I'm guessing they went with the new technology because they are new. Don't know much more about it or how involved the city is.

They were added recently to help those spaces turn over, too many people were parking there for hours/days at a time. I believe the rate and times are similar to the meters in other neighborhoods, like the ones in Ohio City.

Harbor Inn sells, finally, to Jacobs affiliate; new management to step in CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Harbor Inn, a well-trodden watering hole on the west bank of the Flats, finally has a new owner. An affiliate of Jacobs Investments, Inc., owner of the Nautica Entertainment Complex and other nearby properties, bought the building last week – nearly four months after the sale originally was set to occur. In early September, the deal hit speed bumps related to the bar's liquor-license transfer and the incoming management group, which changed amid the delays. On Wednesday, Jacobs paid $350,000 for the building at 1219 Main Ave., according to real estate records. Those documents don't reveal the price for the business. Read More...

Just a little update, mainly things we already know: Cuyahoga County hires firms to determine future of Justice Center CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cuyahoga County will spend $62,500 to determine whether to keep or replace the 40-year-old Justice Center in downtown Cleveland. The county's Board of Control, which includes County Executive Armond Budish and council members, agreed Monday to pay $50,000 to K2M Design to study options and $12,500 to the Thompson Hine law firm. K2M, along with Osborne Engineering in 2014 completed an extensive assessment of the condition of the 2.29 million-square-foot Justice Center complex. ... But the firms did not study the possibility of demolishing the entire complex and the cost to rebuild at another location. Budish has said he wanted to examine all options. Read More

Yes, and two of them were mentioned in the article about the project (Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Canalway Partners). The following organizations have also been involved in other projects, like the Lake Link Trail, the Scranton Rd. section of the Towpath Trail, and Rivergate Park: The Trust for Public Land Cleveland Metroparks Ohio Canal Corridor National Park Service Flats Forward Rivergate Park Foundation These and other organization/public entities all bring something to the table. These projects are often a part of a coordinated effort and all parties work on raising awareness, research, community outreach, and pulling together funding from grants, foundations, government entities, private donations, and other various sources. I believe that The Trust for Public Land often connects, leads, and coordinates these projects.

Members of the Asher family have owned a sea of parking lots just northwest of Public Square for years. Now their family-run real estate company, Weston, Inc., is teaming up with Daniel Walsh, a well-known local banking executive who launched an apartment-investment business last year, to pursue a residential vision for one of the center city's largest blank spots.

I know it's been mentioned before, but that site plan is so discouraging. It seems as if it blocks any future expansion of the blue line, although I suppose that might not be necessarily true. Still, the plan does not interact well with the station at all, it turns its back to it.
