Then support the state of Western Reserve. Lol. Franklin county provides 0.5% of sales tax to transit and cuyahoga provides 1.0%. That's the difference between the 2 counties.

    Franklin county is 7.5%.

I've encountered crank drivers on occasion but I've encountered cranky cashiers and customer service people. Humans are rude sometimes. No one in Cleveland thinks we have awesome transit. But rural state legislators don't want to fund transit. Fortunately, we have county sales tax to fund transit which is also diminishing. In my dream, the state would fund transit but our legislature wants us to all be hillbillies.

Cleveland is not actually a very liberal region or city for that matter. Race relations are a huge problem here Noone will deny that. But perhaps outside of the few liberals in the Cleveland neighborhoods and select inner ring suburbs, you'll find that most people are social moderates or conservatives. Cleveland is heavily Democratic but it's mostly union democrats who are more concerned with economic issues rather than social.

Lots of strawmen and broad brushes in your post. You are just so angry all the time. Maybe your Columbus utopia where there is no racism is better for you.

^ So these white liberals are living in racially diverse suburbs and that is somehow not putting their money where their mouth is.

^^ I don't think anyone is arguing that RTA is perfect. You claimed that the rider numbers weren't real. Even after you were provided with the audited numbers you decided they aren't real. Then moved the goal post to the buses all suck, every driver is rude and it's always hot on every bus. You just didn't like that other people don't share the same experiences that you have. I am an everyday RTA rider because we are a car lite family. RTA is not perfect but it is not the hellscape you describe either. And the fault lies almost entirely with the state's funding. Did you know that ODOT spends more money cutting grass along freeways than they do funding transit?
  8. I think the CSU line could make a stop near W 73rd (?) or the 26 should be upgraded to BRT. I have more ideas too but I think we should move this to the RTA thread.
  9. I asked for a guaranteed 4% return. I'll wait for that mythical investment. In other words, I can invest $8,000 in a guaranteed investment with a 4% return with no risk. Or invest the same $8,000 in an investment that may gain or lose money but will possibly yield a 4% with no guarantee and some risk.
  10. Please show me where I can make a guaranteed 4% investment and I will change my mind.

Your third paragraph seems to contradict the first two. Could you please summarize your point in 2 sentences? Thank you.
  12. Would you take out a loan at 4% to invest in the market? The answer to this question should be the same as whether you would borrow to buy a car.
  13. If you are averaging 7% returns then the investments have some volatility. I would never borrow money to invest in a volatile return. Used cars cannot usually be financed with super low interest financing either. Vehicles with loans must also be fully insured which is an added expense. I prefer to carry liability only and self insure against everything else. I also drive less than 7,000 miles per year.
  14. ^ These low rates are only for new cars. And generally speaking when you finance through the dealer with their low rates they are less likely to negotiate the price of the car. They wither make the money on the front end or back end, sometimes both. I do not advocate a new car and wouldn't advocate it for anybody. It is almost always a poor financial decision.
  15. ^ No offense but there are wayyyyyyyyyy to many assumptions in your post that I don't even know where to start. But first of all, is I paid $18k for a new car, which I wouldn't, I would sure as heck keep it longer than 5 years. You can easily find great quality used cars in the $6k - $8k range. Your assumption of nearly 19k for a car begins with a premise that proves my assumptions accurate.
  16. I wonder if the licensing process was something the cab companies lobbied for at one time to create a barrier to entry for new competition.
  17. The Lakeview just makes it more valuable and dumber for the district to hold onto it.
  18. ^ It's also at key location which can help bridge D-S to OC.
  19. ^ He sounds like a person that should outsource the property management.
  20. ^ I just sent you a message
  21. ^everything is fine. Construction will start this summer.
  22. ^ That's possible. But the district can get an appraisal and demand fair market value.
  23. I've been harping about this for a while now. Every time I pass by that site, I get depressed knowing that the school district is really messing up that stretch of Detroit Avenue. The amount of money that make by selling the site is likely yuuuge.
  24. ^ i got out of the rental business a long time ago due to tenant issues. Fortunately, I sold my rentals off before the great recession. I couldn't have timed it better if I tried.
  25. There is a less than slim possibility of needing the money in a longer time period than it takes to save it.
