Cleveland Planning Commission
I t seems to be some typical half-assery to me. They should design the code to require retail uses at ground level. If anyone wants tp veer then they should request a variance and provide a good reason why the need to veer.

Cleveland: Zoning Discussion
I have been to Toronto many times and I have always noticed how diverse the population seemed. It wasn't unusual to hear many different languages on the streets. I have heard that some of Toronto's growth came in the 80s (I think) when there was a serious movement for Quebec independence. Many businesses in Montreal moved to Toronto due to uncertainty. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that because I'e never researched it myself.

Cleveland: Downtown: Drury Plaza Hotel Development
I concede the point on the shower. I was only looking at the horizontal alignment of the bullnose tile. The vertical should side should line up or be 1.5 different in size. Having it just slightly larger looks weird. Perhaps they will put a shower door there which will break ip up anyway.

Cleveland: Downtown: Drury Plaza Hotel Development
It is common for the bull-nose (trim tile) to be a different size from the field tile. I don't see a problem with that. This is a hotel bathroom people. The building is getting restored. Focus on the big picture.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I am hoping/assuming that an environmental assessment and any needed remediation will be performed. Dry cleaners are red flags and who knows what else was on the other parcels.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
I really don't see the issue with this amenity. I think it only make BP more desirable.

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
I do wonder about this all the time. Ever since the Plain Dealer had a story maybe 10 years ago about Columbus annexations through water access. I wonder the rationale to selling the water instead of annexation.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Cleveland Heights has a separate traffic bureau. That is all they do. It is a good source of revenue to fund the the PD do that they can focus on bigger issues.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Isn't that parking lot basically the foundation of a building too?

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
The only way that it might happen is if NuCleus can land the Med Mutual consolidation. But I agree that it probably doesn't break ground this year.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
Really? Damn, have skins gotten thin. There's nothing remotely offensive about that sign, indeed it's pretty much historically accurate. Sometimes I wish I was an Irishman, I could build a cottage industry out of claiming leprechaun logos are "offensive". except that leprechauns are a part of folklore and Indians are real people.

I think he is referring to Lakeview Road on the East Side.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I believe that lakefront land leases are extremely complex, particularly land fill land. Technically the land underneath the fill land (the original lake floor) is state property.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I think this is pretty huge news actually.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Why did I not know that Stark bought those lots too? That is actually very interesting.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I hope that the Justice Center site doesn't turn into a surface lot.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Aren't Stark's lots at Prospect and East 4th Street? This building is in the Warehouse District. Or am i misreading something?

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I'd love to see 1,000 residential units on the riverfront. I'd really love some redevelopment spread south of the Main Avenue bridge. There are some nice structures with what appears to be nice bones just itching to become lofts.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Interesting. I remember when Third Federal had a stand alone location on Mayfield Road before moving into the Greens.

Cleveland: North Collinwood Vs. Slavic Village
between the two I'd go with North Collinwood. Pros for N. Collinwood: Relatively stable cool commercial districts (waterloo and E 185th) Lake Erie access (Euclid Beach, beach club streets) Great interstate access Cons for N. Collinwood: Farther from downtown than Slavic Village spotty public transportation

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
I think the bros taking over the Near West side could be viewed as good news. The hipsters will then move to some other neighborhoods and help improve that area.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
The knockout game is likely a myth. http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2013/11/25/why_the_knockout_game_trend_is_a_myth.html

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I don't even believe that the knock out game is a real thing. I believed it is a ginned up description of violent assaults that have existed since the beginning of time. It is a term generally used by the cleveland.bomb crowd. It is tinged with xenophobia and racism. IMHO
