  1. ^ LOL. I noticed that too. They should have put some gondolas in there for a real Italian (Venice) feel
  2. ^ Thank you for your off topic uninformed comment.
  3. ^ I've always assumed it is due to weather patterns and/or prevailing winds. But just a guess.
  4. ^ I'm not sure about his other restaurants but Noodlecat has always seemed average to me especially since the switched to a fast casual concept
  5. ^ Every time I visit Chicago I end up in a different neighborhood and I am always amazed (jealous) by the amount of density in the neighborhoods. The last time I was there about 4 years ago I went to a restaurant near a small park and the are was called "the Boulevards"?? I walked around with my wife and bored her with my observations of the density and urbanity. Great photo set of one of my favorite cities in the US.

^ Matt Zone appears to be positioning himself for a run in the next election. I think if FJ had stepped aside he would've run now. It's a sham because I think Zone would be a good candidate.
  7. I've been telling everyone to chill.
  8. Who was on this board talking about how terrible the Foxconn deal was when it was announced? Wisconsin won't break even on Foxconn plant incentives for 25 years: analysis The bureau based its analysis on Foxconn reaching its threshold of 13,000 employees, Reinhardt said. If the actual employment number was 3,000, the break-even point would be so far in the future that it is "silly to talk about," he said. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-foxconn-wisconsin-idUSKBN1AO2JQ It appears that the legislature doesn't yet have the votes to approve this deal either.
  9. Audited Financials are not an opinion
  10. You don't like the facts so now you're lashing out. It's a rather bad look honestly.
  11. ^^Translation: feels over reals.
  12. Audited Financials are available online and show the same thing.
  13. ^ it's all about optics.

^ It might be worth her sending in a resume because there may be an entry level position opening too. I do not think that Cleveland planners make $30k. I think entry level planners make mid 40s with government benefits.
  15. ^ I totally agree if you look at the amount of money that CMSD will "forego" over 30 years vs what they get up front and calculate present value of the stream it is a pretty good deal for the school because of the state match. The upfront money is guaranteed too unlike the stream of revenue that may be received if the project is built.

^ the salaries are not usually that low for city positions. The Chief Planner position likely pays near the top end of this salary but this is the way they advertise a lot of their positions.

^ It looks like a good opportunity. I dislike how City of Cleveland gives a wide salary range on open positions. It would be better if they gave a realistic range so that people won't waste their time if the salary is too low.
  18. ^ Thanks for the update. I am cautiously optimistic about the proposed TIF deal. I might feel better about if it weren't an election year.
  19. Any word on what happened at the school board meeting?

Jeff's very well spoken when he wants to be. He has a little bit of a tendency to pander in his dialect, but that often goes over well. When white politicians speak in a dialect it's called being folksy.
  21. That Is only part of the equation. All commercial properties use this deduction as well. If you get rid of the deduction, what it will do is cause the real estate market to tank. This will cause asset prices to be written down and the value of a $5 million piece of property is now going to be $3 million. While that may be too bad so sad for the property owner, he is now underwater on the mortgage and it will trigger a covenant from the bank to call the loan (because it is commercial and they have those covenants) or he cant refinance it when it comes due, thus sending the property in foreclosure. Now the bank has all these bad performing notes on their books because the tax deduction caused the rapid deflation of real estate and they can no longer meet their capital requirements by the fed. They cannot offer loans for other businesses looking to grow or even provide lines of credit to businesses to help them with their payroll. Banks will fail and take other non real estate businesses with them for the reasons cited above. It will create a downward spiral just like in 2009 which, if you don't remember, was led by the real estate market crashing. This is why the mortgage interest deduction will not go away Business interest deduction does not have to go away if personal mortgage interest deduction goes away.
  22. ^ i doubt it. only 1/4th of homeowners claim the deduction. it benefits mostly high income earners.
  23. We're not supposed to criticize housing subsidies unless poor people benefit. 'murica
  24. ^ I'm sure the nefarious Pelosi was trying to scam the government out of its $12 per year so that she could buy 2 extra lattes.
  25. ^ I believe that was when BP was still headquartered here if I remember correctly.
