  1. ^ Stop letting facts and logic get in the way of an uninformed rant against the libruhls.
  2. would that be pronounced like scrape? but seriously, I think they should just go with Scranton Peninsula. Keep it simple.
  3. Any new residential construction in Cleveland carries a 15 year abatement on property taxes. TIFs on Cleveland projects are applied to the non-residential portion of a project for 30 years and years 16-30 on residential.
  4. Let me preface my statement by saying that I won't be ready for retirement for about 20 years. But my wife and I both enjoy the museums and the orchestra. Ideally as I get older, I'd prefer to live in a place where a car is not needed. Also, I have no intention to own a home when I get older so as not to burden children with selling real estate and have no maintenance and one floor living.
  5. I was going to make a similar comment. That's my plan too.

  7. ^ Plus CMSD can get additional funding from the state to match the $18MM. I see this as a true win-win. Getting a TIF is not zero sum.
  8. The schools will collect will still receive the 10.8 million over 30 years. The TIF only exists on the new improvements. The 18 million is in addition to the 10.8 and it is 18 million today rather than a potential $126MM over 30 years.
  9. They will still continue to receive the $360,000 annually. That could actually increase too if the value of the land increases - I think.
  10. ^ that is exactly right. The TIF only involves the property taxes. All other taxes will be collected. I don't think the schools receive any taxes other than property taxes though.
  11. ^ And they still continue to collect $360K per year on top of the upfront payment.
  12. ^ No. It's going to be patronized by holograms.
  13. A few weeks ago Jarboe reported that the county was approving the final piece of financing for the project. That's a long way for a developer to go on a fake project. Financing is being finalized and construction will begin immediately following that.

    He's president now. :-D
  15. ^ Whose deadline is Stark failing to meet here? I fail to understand the criticism. It is very common for real estate projects to get late starts for various reasons.
  16. I find that most people outside of Ohio don't know where our cities are located unless they've been here before. Someone on the West Coast thought Cleveland was on the Ohio River. But again I don't know exactly where in a state many cities are located.
  17. ^ Although, these developments that include hotel and other services do create jobs for people living off Kinsman. Albeit , low wage jobs, but a job is better than no job.
  18. ^ As much as I hate surface parking, I can't begrudge the developer for putting a surface lot in FEB. Until Phase 3 becomes feasible, the lot can generate some revenue for the developer.
  19. Honestly, I don't think $1.00 more for parking will make people switch. Transit ridership seems to increase when fuel prices increase dramatically. Low fuel prices means more drivers. IMHO
  20. ^ booooooooooo
