Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
It doesn't seem wide enough to create a wind tunnel, especially no more than a standard urban street wall. However, if it really concerns you, you can write them to make sure that someone studies and verifies.

I really would prefer that they use part of the Millennium Site to create liner-retail facing the park. It would hide the blank wall, activate the park during non-convention times, and give some sort of use to the break-out space other than adjacency. I would understand in the interest of minimizing costs and for future flexibility if they want to make this a container park (cringe) or at least a food truck court, but multi-story would be ideal. I don't mind the zig-zag wing extension, but if design school stresses anything, it is that when you make a grand gesture, its terminus should be an event. That square better be a heck of a lot more than fenced-in grass (reflecting pool would be nice) and could give west downtown a public space (i.e. Lytle park) it sorely needs.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It is incredible how high the numbers have grown... now the #2 system in passengers per hour, and #5 in overall passengers (with just 1 route!). Choo choo train to nowhere?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Per the lease agreement, 100% of the first $16.7 million of a naming rights deal goes directly to the team, as well as 70% of all monies above that 16.7 (county gets remaining 30%).

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
CincyIntheKnow replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy guess is if you already own the property, the cost of a remodel vs. demolition and parking lot is substantial. So while income may not be as high, the costs are less (not to mention lower taxes).

CincyIntheKnow replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt looks like the black outline would be the building footprint, so the turf lawns would be at grade.

CincyIntheKnow replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIMO, I hope that the turf lawn doesn't make it. If people want green, push for a roof garden. A larger more diverse rec center can be a neighborhood gathering node for a larger more diverse people

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
The way FWW change got passed through was it was contained within the same area of the previously concluded environmental study. Chas, on the west side of the proposed trench in the site plan above showing acreages, it looks like your proposal acquires land not currently a part of the 75 right of way (including trimming/demoing a couple buildings). Is this land within the bridge environmental study? How much would you have to shift the tunnel to the east (and how much developable acreage would you lose) to be contained within the current I-75 spaghetti environmental area? Based on my quick calcs it looks like a 300' shift to the east would cost about 3 acres per developable block.

Cincinnati: Potential New Arena
That was not my understanding... I was under the impression the tearing down was of the exterior walls to widen the concourses. The seating bowl would remain (updated obviously).

Will this half have it's own lobby, or will there be a sky bridge connecting the two sides? Trying to grasp how they work out 2 separate buildings operationally.

Newport, KY: Ovation
CincyIntheKnow replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt is a cookie cutter design, with a stack of ugly cookies. The unfortunate thing is, it doesn't need much to be a big improvement.

Skyline probably can afford higher rent per SF than the other guys. If Skyline wants more SF, then I don't blame the landlord for facilitating.
