  1. Well, he was certainly asking for it...
  2. Coming off the high from Monday Night's game, this was a bucket of cold water-style shocker...congrats, you took our defense apart, and held our offense when it really counted...nicely done...

    Killer. That's just fantastic!
  4. Congratulations! We were married in Alms Park in September five years ago - so indeed, a wonderful choice of venue and season!

So the walkway that connects the Magnolia Garden area with Mirror Lake (I forget the name - some sort of nature trail) - they're paving that, making it wheelchair accessible from the gazebo end and the Magnolia Grove end, and I'm guessing adding steps in where the path currently dips down to the park. I like natural dirt trails, but I do like this idea - that trail was treacherous, and completely inaccessible for a lot of folks...plus it's such a pleasant way to walk to Mirror Lake, as compared with the sidewalk along the winding street, where cars just go zooming past...
  6. Taken from the courtyard at the Cincinnati Art Museum:
  7. Dee Felice, Chez Nora, Cock & Bull, Pho Paris, Keystone, Greenup Cafe, Coco's, Riverside Korean, Mike's Music, the Covington riverfront, the view of Cincinnati's skyline, and that's all west of the Licking river...er...except Riverside Korean - sorry!
  8. Whatever. Norwood is fantastic. Dense single-family housing, extremely walkable/joggable, lots of local shopping, lots of high-end shopping, easy access to about everywhere...I would DEFINITELY live in Norwood.

I just shopped there tonight...the produce definitely sucks, but it's really not that bad a store. I have to go to Hyde Park for big meals or anything even remotely specialty, but it's got all the basics... Of course, I really wish they had better produce, more selections, and more than two or three cashiers open during peak hours...
  10. Not to rehash an old topic, but the enforcement of a truck ban would not be impossible...you could require a manifest with a local address, and enforce it secondarily with large fines and such. Other through-truck bans have used that approach. However, I've mostly heard of local or state routes having through-truck bans - roads like Columbia Parkway and such. I'm sure you're right when you say banning through-trucks on a federally funded interstate would be legally problematic at best...
  11. It's definitely more inviting now, to my eye - but I've gotta go with LincolnKennedy about the crowd space. Google's aerial, which is from pre-rehab:
  12. The first ranked team to lose to a 1AA team EVER; the first #5 team to drop out of the ranking entirely; and following it up with a complete beat-down the next week. This isn't about OSU fans - this is about Michigan experiencing humiliation on an historic scale! If situations were reversed, I would hope they'd be selling out of Youngstown Penguins t-shirts in Ann Arbor - as Jim Rome says, that's what makes college sports so fantastic - the hate!

For you bridge-lovers, a related (but Ohio-specific) thread here: Ink's "Your favorite Ohio bridge" thread...
  14. I wonder if the other 6%-7% isn't currently made up by the Cincinnati Post and the Kentucky Post...plus, the Enquirer is also published under the banner The Kentucky Enquirer - any idea if its circulation is included?
  15. Well, the old square was beautiful, because it had that fountain in it, and it had the view of Carew and such...but yeah, the square now is just wonderful...

They've put a few of the drainage things in, so you can really get a feel for how much dirt they're going to add in - crappy cell phone photo:

Holy crap! What great pictures! I'm with Rob - best fireworks pictures ever! Other threads have had fireworks over skylines, but for pure fireworks, I've not seen better! I'm glad about your choice of lens!

That's what used to be ZZ's pizza...it was a wonderful place - packed with folks every night, lively carry-out business - they sold gormet pizzas. It was gay-owned, great folks - I don't know what all they did for the community, but I saw them as a sponsor for the Cincinnati Opera on a couple occasions...one of the owners had Parkinson's, which progressed, and it just became too much for the other one to take care of him and run the restaurant. I saw him pushing the other owner in a wheelchair in Hyde Park a few months ago, so I guess everyone's still getting along...very sad, big loss for the community, and we wish them all the best...
  19. They absolutely did steal that picture. Unless every office and residence in view had the same lights on two different nights when the sky was the same and the smoke from that building under Carew was blowing in precisely the same way...I assume they didn't ask permission? Theives.
  20. "Into town" vs. "out of town" just depends on where you live. If you live west of the Licking in NKY, out on the west side of town, or north up 75, you'll probably see Fountain Square on the way into town, since 5th Street is an exit off the assorted highways. But if you live on the east side, or east of the Licking, or north up 71, you're more likely to see it on your way home, since 5th Street serves as an entrance ramp for 50, 471 and 71.

Holy crap! Wow! Just fantastic...you've always had the best eye I've seen... Is this a greatest hits of the summer? I know this one was taken a while ago:

Racist billboards is one thing, but mocking a multi-millionaire pretty boy strike-out machine outfielder with no glove? That's going too far...

...well, just because there's a method to your madness doesn't mean you aren't also a nutcase, who happened to have just posted 30 images of a similar scene... Yeah, I like both the first one: ...and this one: ...the first one is a better shot of the flag and has more definition in the plant stuff that's overflowing the stone wall; but the later one has a better angle on the bridge to my eye, highlighting its curve...
  24. That's actually a C-130 cargo plane (thanks, by the way, Thomas and Monte)...two years ago they had a Harrier jet that game in and almost hovered over the riverfront... ...though if they had some bombs, I guess they could have started site prep for the Ovation...
  25. I just can't imagine dealing with the hassle of staking out space on the wall, and spending the day in the sun, jostled by thousands of people, though I definitely need to experience them that way some day...I did see them from the foot of Greenup Street a few years ago, and while the crowds were distracting, the show was fantastic... So have you picked your spot for next year yet? Maybe getting a ticket to one of the NKY restaurant parties or something? Or maybe up top of NOTL would give you a little distance - I wonder, can you stake out space there?
