  1. Oh, wow, wow, fantastic wow! Just killer to see...I called my wife over, excited - "honey, look! It's the old Central Bridge!" She looked dutifully because she loves me, but I was thrilled enough for the two of us... Any chance you ever took pictures of any parks? I'd swoon for some vintage 80's Eden Park shots...
  2. Hey, thanks...Andy (PigBoy) did the map part - he's the man. It's a fun little project, with a whole lot to cover, and it's difficult to get around to, but we'll definitely keep adding stuff, and will post on it when we do!
  3. Dig! Dig!! Dig-Dig!!!
  4. Oh, just wonderful to see...definitely, anytime you run across any Cincinnati loving, please share it! These are just delightful!

Pickup trucks are both cheap, and they hold their value tremendously. Then considering how handy they are for hauling stuff, helping friends move, etc., there are a host of reasons for owning a pickup truck. I owned one for three or four years, and it was the cheapest wheels I ever owned, all things considered.
  6. A small new tidbit - the new listings for these units all mention a rooftop terrace: Unbelievable quality & design, still time to make selections, best flr plan in new construction. Condos surrounded by park, grn space, amazing city & river views. Rooftop terrace, clubrm, exercise rm. Over 3100 interior sf. 500 sf terrace. ...I think the "500 sf terrace" is the balcony each unit has, not the rooftop terrace...

I would suggest going with "just beginning" for a while, see where that takes you!

Very funny - but utterly fantastic at the same time! Is this your shot? If so, super wow!

I've always thought it would be cool to shave my beard, shave my head, and just leave nothing but sideburns...
  10. Jesus. I'm glad we're discussing the Cincinnati Enquirer, and not personally attacking individuals and groups as being sluts. I'm sure any tri-delts reading this thread are just THRILLED to watch us opine on their morals and behavior. Sheesh.
  11. On our first trip there, we were supposed to take the Cat back, but that was September 1999, and Hurricane Floyd was running right up the Bay of Fundy...that's when we learned how long it took to drive from NS to Bar Harbor!
  12. My wife and I took our first trip together to Nova Scotia - it seemed so exotic to us...spent most the time in Cape Breton, including camping up at Meat Cove, where we didn't see another human for 24 hours, but did see an entire school of pilot whales swimming past in the morning...loved it so much we went back for our honeymoon and spent a week in Cape Breton. Bras D'Or Lake was the only place I've ever seen a bald eagle in the wild... C-Dawg, you should definitely go - it doesn't have to be an expensive trip. There are B&B's all over Nova Scotia, and while it's a healthy drive, you can make a road trip out of it - it's only 8 or 9 hours from Portland, ME to Truro, NS, or you can take a ferry to Yarmouth (though I'd recommend avoiding the overnight one if you're susceptible to sea sickness - it may look like a cruise ship, but it rides like a canoe). Most of the drive is in getting to Portland - so you can fly there, normally pretty cheaply, or road trip through Philly, NYC, Providence and Boston...

    LOL...nicely played!
  14. I think you'd find the image bank itself would get real messy, real quick. The threads are probably the best resource, and the mods and admins already patrol them quite well to keep them (for the most part) on track...I can't imagine someone spending the tremendous amount of time to maintain an abstracted summary of each of them...though I'm sure if you wanted to build a "Project Abstract" post that just used the quote function and pulled the project-advancing posts from some of the bigger projects, nobody would stop you!
  15. I just read through this whole thread, and I don't know if I've seen any that took more off-topic tangents in stride...Walnut Hills High School and ATL v CVG and catholic education and just wage theory and hiking and music...kinda funny...
  16. Actually, what came to mind for me was the possible near-miss in NE Ohio on I-90, back maybe ten years ago...I don't remember the details, but I thought it was the I-90 bridge over the Grand River, and painters or something noticed some major cracks...experts were called in, and the highway was shut down for a couple months... I'm sure lots of people on here can correct my assured inaccuracies - but that's what I thought of... EDIT: Answered my own question on noozer's Ohio Bridge Safety thread...
  17. It's really not that weird...the better/higher quality of restaurant...the nicer the kitchen. Pigalls is high quality and you can see how it stems from the kitchen. I do like this trend of opening the kitchen up to the world...like Boca's kitchen - the whole back room looks right into the kitchen. At least one of the early design's for Via Vite had an open kitchen, and he'd thought about a six-seater bar-type space where folks could sit looking in on the kitchen and have the kitchen staff serve their meal. Actually, for a less-pricey open-kitchen experience, there's always Brio in NOTL - I know it's a chain, and it's NOTL, but I couldn't care less, the food is quite tasty - but they have a four or six seater bar-like area that faces the kitchen...that's very fun too... Or hell, there's always Skyline!

    ...yeah...<sing-song voice>gettin' kinda old here...</sing-song voice>
  19. ^Depends on the store. I've had some of my longest waits during the wee hours, when they only have one check-out line open, and some of my fastest during the worst rushes, because you only have to wait for one shopper ahead of you, and every station has a bagger... BTW, I love the self-check-out...the worst wait is never more than one cycle through the four stations...
  20. The two most shocking things: 1) The cleanliness of the kitchen. The cooks weren't even standing on mats - they were on the floor. Non-stick shoes, of course, but still, all the food and oil and salt and sauces flying everywhere, and everything was spotless. 2) The efficiency of the chefs...it's a pretty small kitchen, and a very extensive menu, with probably a half dozen components to every dish, and probably twenty or twenty five different dishes, but there was no fuss, no muss, just food prep...Issue430 and I cook together at least weekly for my wife and his SO, and we have a bigger hassle and make a bigger mess just grilling burgers and brats! These folks are truly impressive...

Which street is that on, David?
  23. The city should sell it to Sycamore township for its fair market value. Then they can mulch all the yard waste they want to mulch...unless, of course, what the Sycamore township residents really want is for Cincinnati to continue to subsidize their mulch facility and low-traffic status by not selling the land to Target or just to a real estate developer - which is my guess...
  24. Tonight was my wife's birthday, so we took her to Pigall's, and got the Chef's Table in the kitchen...and wow, was that cool! We only reserved it a couple weeks in advance, so it's definitely not some crazy booked-up-forever kind of thing. We got a couple extra courses tossed in, which was cool, except we left STUFFED to the gills...and best of all, Issue430 picked up the bill! What a guy! Anyway, here's a few crappy cell phone shots I took between gorging on food and knocking back bourbon... Issue430 enjoying a martini (with blue cheese stuffed olives!): The civilian against the wall is an Enquirer reporter who's doing a story on A Day In The Life of Jean Robert or something...I was a touch late on this shot - Jean Robert's head is disappearing over the woman's right shoulder...

He was referring to some off-color banter KOOW and I were engaging in that has been removed, not in the drag-discussion...you'll have to continue feeling left out!
