Cincinnati: O'Bryonville + bonuses
Yeah, reminds me of 12800 York Road outside of Cleveland, in what, maybe Parma? Is TCK a developer/builder of some sort...I had no idea! ...someone needs to pay more attention!

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills - Volterra Condominiums
A friend and his wife have been kind of looking for a condo in our area lately, and we walked past these tonight. He called one of the numbers, and asked the price - was hoping for the mid-to-upper $100's...I was worried it would be in the $200's, which would be more than he wants to spend... ...units will start at $335K...gah. So, bad news for my friend - I'd love to have them living a 40 second walk away - but good news for us as nearby homeowners!

alchemize's Building for Sale
Nick - congrats on doing good business in Northside - I've only heard good things about it! Might I ask why you and your business partners aren't buying the building? I'm sure nobody is as confident in your business as you guys are, and if the rent pays the mortgage, why wouldn't you want in on that yourself?

Cincinnati Park System
Just for reference, here's Mohr37's thread on the 1907 Kessler Plan, with loads of drawings and such... Yeah, Step 1: keep the toilets open. Step 2: run the already existing concession stands. Step 3: maintain the infrastructure, like walkways and playground gear and whatnot...then a wish list makes sense. However, if talking about the possibilities helps get more funding to the parks, that's great. The parks system does a great job, from what I can tell... Not sure I'm all that excited about a rooftop deck off the Conservatory, but eh, that's fine...but Jimmy, if you want coffee at the overlook, it's just a set of stairs away from the Conservatory!

Newport, KY: Ovation
RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt was the ghetto before it was the projects? I guess that makes sense - I can't imagine someone letting a Millionaire's Row get ripped down for projects - but one never knows...well, plus there had to be major dislocation when the levee when in...

Newport, KY: Ovation
RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy wife and I jogged past this yesterday, and I hadn't noticed before that it's cleared - like, cleared-cleared - big flat field...and I don't know that anyone will miss the buildings they razed, but I was wondering, does anyone know what the area looked like before they built the projects on it? Seems like with the gorgeous housing just across the Licking, there may be a tragic tale there for the telling... Oh, and while I can't imagine it'll end up as part of the project, doesn't it look like they're planning for a new footbridge right at the mouth of the Licking? Which would absolutely rock, by the way, but I'm a huge fan of bridges! (...if folks have already mentioned this, I missed it...sorry!)

RiverViewer replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentFinally, something in the Watson's space...convenient location, loads of parking, large building, with 27K white collar workers surrounding it in every direction...it'll be nice having another lunch option up this way...

Dayton Flood Memorial Park Memorial Thread.
Gah...that's a real shame...any loss of a park is awful, but one that features a weather map on its gate? Horrible loss...definitely, let us know if you find where it's gone to!

\\\ 2006 Unofficial Forumer of the Year - Vote Now!!! ///
It's an honor just to be nominated! But am I allowed to say that I voted for Uncle Rando myself? I guess if the answer is "no," then I just screwed up (and thus, how could one vote for me, such a screw-up I am?). For me, it was a debate between Uncle Rando and The Cincinnati Kid, a very tough choice, because they both add so much to the forum - but the tiebreaker was that my impression is Uncle Rando does more state-wide stuff than TCK...but got love them both - I love what they both bring! ...of course, if the vote were for either the funniest or the most COMMUNIST forumer, it'd have to be Kingfish, with his prissy bleeding-heart disease-cure-swimming fishy Polish punk-rock liberal self... (feels like I should have added "twelve-sandwich-eating" in there somewhere...)
