What is your favorite newspaper or newspapers in Ohio?
Although the Post relies on the Enquirer (Gannett) through their operating agreement that is about to expire, isn't the Post owned and operated by Scripps? Indeed...the Enquirer does all the publishing and ad sales for the Post...and I believe the Post used to be the stronger paper, but now it's an also-ran, about to go under when the Enquirer pulls the plug on the collaborative agreement they have...

What is your favorite newspaper or newspapers in Ohio?
I wonder if the Kentucky Post is included in the "Cincinnati Enquirer/Post" numbers...they're all part of the same Newspaper Borg, but if the KY Post numbers are not included, then a significant portion of the immediate metro down here is sucked off...

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
RiverViewer replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentJust finished dinner at Pho Paris, and WOW!!! Just stellar food...we got four appetizers for the four of us, then split two entre's, and everything was just astonishingly tasty...they don't have their liquor license yet, so we're sitting in Coco's for a nightcap...

Ohio Smoking Ban
...like the way they focus on "undecided" voters during the debates. Anyone who was undecided between Kerry and Bush in the fall of 2004 was either not paying attention (in which case why should we give a sh*t what they think?), or was an utter moron (in which case why should we give a sh*t what they think?)...

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionOne familiar name that apparently won't be there by June is Nicola Pietoso, the owner of Nicola's Ristorante in Over-the-Rhine who has signed a lease for a new restaurant on the public plaza. The building's shell initially was supposed to have been turned over to Pietoso for interior work in December, paving the way for a spring opening, but construction of the structure's foundation is still mired below ground level in a large hole on the north end of the plaza. Pietoso said Wednesday he now expects to take delivery of the shell in mid-April, with his Italian bistro Via Vite opening for business on the square by late July or early August. Disappointing, but it will definitely be worth the wait...I imagine Via Vite will end up being the number one draw for me and my wife to the square...I can't wait...

Cincinnati: City Budget and Spending News & Discussion
Isn't there any way to coordinate things so that City Council has good numbers to work with when setting the budget? Does it strike anyone else as really strange that the system requires them to work with guesses in December when they can have hard numbers in January? I mean, what if it had been a shortfall instead of an overage? This seems like a problem that could be fixed...

Moving to Cincinnati, need some help!
O'Bryonville is great - first neighborhood I lived in when I moved to Cincinnati ten years ago... To find our place on Ludlow, we basically walked around the gaslight district looking for signs for houses that were for rent...

Cincinnati: Fountain Square and downtown, Christmastime
Wow, I missed a ton of great stuff when I fell behind over the holidays - what a great thread! Wonderful photo essay on the Genius of Water angles too! Grasscat, was the East End shot taken on Collins just above the underpass? That is a cool angle!

Random Pictures - Cincinnati, Columbus, Evanston IL
To echo Rob, that first shot of Steger is really, really well done! And hey, if you practice now with your 2001-era camera, you'll be that much better when you get a new one!

Cincinnati: CUF: Clifton Heights & Posed UC Ballplayers Cameo
Just getting to these December photo threads now - I got way behind at year's end! Ach, Monte, another piece to the never-ending puzzle of Cincinnati neighborhoods clicks into place! Very nice! You know, four basketball players walking around in matching sweatsuits plastered with "Cincinnati Basketball" - it's not like they could be too upset about being noticed! So what exactly do the signs they're flashing mean? Is that what "the shocker" means? And BTW, what the hell is "the shocker"?

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"

Merry Christmas from Kentucky
Very pretty...you've gotta love the hills of Kentucky!

Cincinnati: Downtown: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
At first I confused Damon Lynch Jr. with Damon Lynch III...the younger one ought to be in jail for inciting the 2001 riots, and I was apalled that the Freedom Center would put him at its helm - but happily they didn't - this is his dad.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
I suspect folks see Marvin's choices for who to bring in here (Odell Thurman, say, a known head case), as coming home to roost. And I don't think it's inappropriate or self-righteous to aim that frustration at him - he made this bed over the last four years, and now he's lying in it, with suspensions and horrible publicity.
