  1. Since there's 1.4MM more people in Ohio than in Michigan, the "Michigan fans in Ohio" side has a built-in advantage in that equation, so that'd be my guess... But as a percentage? I have no idea...
  2. ^I was being ironical...to be honest, though, I'd love to set a couch on fire - I'd imagine there's a pyromaniacal streak in everyone...

Is this space east of I-71, north-east of Eggleston and west of the 471N-71N ramp? That looks like a large block of flattish land...if it's not there, then where exactly is the space you're talking about?
  4. Atlas, this whole thread is just talking smack. If you feel the need to take smack talk seriously, may I suggest you're better off enjoying the many other threads UrbanOhio has to offer?

Will they allow you to pay them on Tuesday for a hamburger today?
  6. Man, Patty Griffin's first album - the one with Moses on it? Good Lord did I love that album...

Do you know why South Park use to be called Slidertown? All the White Castles they had?
  8. I hate to say it - I really, really hate to say it - but it's gotta be the Steelers. They're just way too good of a team not to win, and the Browns are just too far away this year...but hopefully in the next couple years, it'll all be turned around!

I for one cannot wait for all of the hoopla to be over so we can cut it with the dumb-ass plays on words.
  10. Is Easton an example of that? It's highly non-urban around those parts, but they build parking garages anyway...well, and a shit-ton of surface lots, but still, I've parked in a garage there before...
  11. I can't help you with your requests, but I can gleefully welcome to UrbanOhio! OK, "gleeful" is an overstatement, but welcome nonetheless!
  12. I am way too classy to burn a couch.
  13. Does it really end up costing more money to build a parking garage and then fit more buildings onto the land? Or is a shopping area without visible parking just less appealing? Or are they worried about filling in tenants as it is, and doubling the size of the project would give the whole thing that Dead Mall feel?

Wow - this was pretty involved! How many Ohio House District / County combinations are there? Between districts that cover parts of multiple counties, and counties that incorporate multiple districts, you must have what, 150ish unique areas covered here?
  16. Oh, Jesus, can we skip out on the whole college quality discussion? Please? Pretty please?
  17. Er...that had nothing to do with fan behavior. I was talking about fans who obviously know nothing of the history of a team...an OSU fan who would root for Michigan for anything is like an Indians fan who would root for the Yankees for anything - it's someone who doesn't know a thing about the team and it's history. Regarding bad fan behavior, I'm against it. Don't have much else to add to that...
  18. Dumb fans, that's all. It's like the morons in Cleveland who were rooting for the Yankees to beat Atlanta in the 1996 World Series, just because they took the Tribe in six in the 1995 series. Absolute ignorance...
  19. ^LOL - that's exactly what I thought when I first read the story - I read "Beacon" and saw Beekman passing under I-74 in my head!
  20. We should keep in mind that the folks who suffer most from crime are the poor themselves. Property crime is higher in OTR than in Hyde Park - and that ain't because of Prospect Hill getting hit over and over. The poor are more likely to be robbed and burglarized, they have to spend money on security (grates for windows, extra locks, heavy doors, etc.), they shop at places that have to pay their own "security premium," they live in an environment that's not hospitable to quality jobs, etc., etc. And that's just financial - aesthetically, the neighborhoods are graffiti'd and boarded up; psychologically, they live with a higher level of fear than a family in Oakley does that they'll be mugged or caught in the cross-fire or see their kids get wrapped up with the wrong folks... All in all, the absolute best thing we could do for the poor is to fight crime. Just getting criminals off the streets will help make life better for the folks who are steeped in the "root causes," because one of the biggest root causes is the crime itself. At least that's how I see it...note - I didn't quote stats, and will happily repent if someone can show that I'm wrong on any of my assertions - I may well be...

Who's dissing on Stryker? Hey, I'm the guy who made the Stryker avatar (though I haven't seen anyone using it)...
  22. Not a through street. LOL... What beautiful weather that week was...and wonderful shots thereof!
  23. Best of luck...Ohio hates to see you go, but maybe you'll be back some day!
