Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part 6
Hey, I didn't know there was an homage to Cincinnati's Roebling Suspension Bridge: Very cool!

Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part 5
My guess is that that's the high water mark, just a function a spending time under water... Wow - those canyon shots looks like the Smoky Mountains!

Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part 4
Holy sh**! Gorgeous! You know, I've always wanted to take a leak on the Continental Divide..."a little for the Pacific...a little for the Atlantic...a little more for the Pacific..." I guess I'm kinda sick, but I've wanted to do that since I was a kid...

Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part 3
Yeah, that's the first I've seen of the OKC memorial... So did you make your woman drive the whole way? Or did you take the long expanses and just make her drive in the cities to leave you free for camera-wielding?

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
It said the 1500 block of Beacon Street, but didn't give any further details. I can't find a Beacon street in Millville, Hamilton, Okeana, Reily, Ross, Rossville, etc., etc...the only one I've run across in the Cincinnati area is the one in Mt. Washington - I checked google maps for Cincinnati, and then checked the auditor's site for Hamilton County. Can you point out where there's a Beacon Street near Millville? Definitely seems out of character for what I know of Mt. Washington, but that's probably just utter ignorance on my part...besides which, crime can happen anywhere...

RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionand the roof collapsed this year. (QUOTE: "The roof has failed and no longer fulfils its intended purpose.") LOL... Atlas - sorry to hear your father is leaving town, but God love him and your family for more than 100 years of running a business in the city...all the best!

Ohio Smoking Ban
When I first went to UC back in 1990/1991, they had outlawed smoking inside classrooms - but you could still smoke in the halls. There'd be this toxic cloud hanging above walls packed with smokers sitting on the floor, tripping folks walking past...yeah, that was a stupid policy...

Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio Elect New (pro same-sex union) Bishop
putting the diocese into the thick of a worldwide Anglican feud over how to interpret what the Bible says about sexuality I don't see how it does that...dude has his personal belief, but said he'll follow the church's teachings... I imagine this will spell the end of St. Michael and All Angels in Avondale - it's been kept open despite a tiny congregation mostly because of the old bishop - at least that's my understanding. Here's a gallery of shots of St. Michael's and its stained glass windows...

Grasscat Absolutely ROCKS!!!
No doubt, Noozer, and The Cincinnati Kid and Uncle Rando all do a lot to bring us articles and news from all over - thanks to all of them as well! But sorry, no kissy-face emoticons for you'ins...

Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part 2
...and I didn't have to wait long for St. Louis! I've always maintained that it's impossible to take a bad shot of the arch, and boy, have you corroborated that - your arch shots rock! I especially dig this one: Man, I love St. Louis...thanks so much for the thread! We've gotta get back there...

Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA... roadtrip!!! Part I
Aw, you match! I dig your Indy shots! Loved the one with all the cranes - I'm sure Indianapolis residents do as well! And I can't wait for St. Louis!

Cincinnati: Mt. Auburn: Development and News
RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell, given what used to be there, I'd probably call it two steps forward, one back...but your point is well taken. And here's one decision, made against advice by city council, which is going to doom that intersection for a generation or more...alas...

Wow - what a first half! Carson's completed 20 of 23 for 282 yards, with 2 TD's...he's completed passes to seven different receivers. Frickin' WOW!

Grasscat Absolutely ROCKS!!!
I just wanted to take a quick thread to thank Grasscat for the incredible job he did for all of us in bringing us articles from all over the place during this election cycle. There's no way I'd have read Columbus Dispatch articles about the Auditor's race, or the Toledo Blade on the Senate race, or the Stryker Sentinel on Secretary of State (OK, I just made that one up), etc., etc. - he gathered and coallated and formatted and linked and kept us all up to date with a vast variety of sources...I've never been as well-informed during an election as I was this year, and it's wholly thanks to Grasscat. Kudo's, thanks, glory, laud and honor! You frickin' ROCK!

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
That does make sense...if I'm going from Cincinnati to Eastgate and points east, I already always take 50 to 125 to 32, but you're right, just about everyone I know does 471-275. This would make my preferred route much more attractive...hmm... Although this would open another route up for accessing the east side - 71N to Red Bank to the new 32...mostly non-city-street, none of the lights of Eastern et al...and from the west side, coming in 74E - 75N - 562E - Red Bank - 32: it sounds nuts, but would actually end up a pretty direct route. Of course, that adds a whole lot of trucks merging and exiting and whatnot, where now they're more likely to use 471-275, or even just 275 all the way around... Anyway, yeah, while I'm not immediately anti-Eastern Corridor, and the anti-bridge argument does little to sway me, your posts certainly make me want to lean that way...

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
Would be lovely! How would you envision it connecting once it gets downtown?

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
How does this bridge put more trucks onto Eastern Avenue? I'm not arguing, I'm just confused!

RiverViewer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI sure would not want to live at Shaw and Rosella, and have to squeeze my way through the Wasson/Edwards/Madison corridor every time I went anywhere...that would be the very definition of hell to me...

The Amish can vote, but my understanding was that many of them did not. Of course, that makes them basically no different from any other group, I guess!
