  1. Monte, is yours Miami?
  2. 1st half records: 1991: 0-8 1992: 3-5 1993: 0-8 1994: 0-8 1995: 3-5 1996: 2-6 1997: 1-7 1998: 2-6 1999: 1-7 2000: 2-6 2001: 4-4 2002: 1-7 2003: 3-5 2004: 3-5 ...personally, I was a Browns fan up through when Modell moved the team, which is when I moved to Cincinnati...and I believe Browns fans are definitely the best fans there are. But saying they've been more frustrated than Cincinnati fans? That's just crazy.
  3. Dude, what are you smoking? Fine, let's define futility. My definition? An utter inability to compete. By which measure, the Browns have never experienced a drought like the Bengals are now coming out of - 14 years, never any hope of competing. The longest the Browns ever went without touching the post-season is half that time. Another definition - time without winning a title. Well, since the Bengals have never won a title, I think we've got ya whipped there. Apparently you're saying that to come close to winning the title without actually winning it is, well, good enough. To which I say, was being an Indians fan in November 1997 really that much more satisfying than being an Indians fan in November 1996? And even if you say yes, then why? Is it because they were a better team, more competitive? In which case we're back to the fact that the Browns ain't never gone 14 straight years without being competitive, without having the first hope of going anywhere. You guys don't even come in 2nd in the "push your fans away with shitty play" olympics. Try spending 14 years without hope, then call it a blip. Indians fans? Yeah, they got it all over Bengals fans. But the Browns? Don't be crazy.
  4. Yeah, a great game...fear the 'roo! Er...fear the nut!
  5. Oh, very cool! A great park, great pictures, and a great puppy! Is that a bichon frieze? Such happy, loving dogs! What's his name? I can't wait for the future volumes...this could keep you going for months!
  6. Dude, the Browns have never had a stretch of futility like the Bengals have just been through. The Bengals didn't see the post-season for fourteen frickin' years - 1991 through 2004. Even with three years without a franchise, the longest the Browns went was seven years. And our last football championship? It wasn't more recent than yours...so no, don't try to pull that nonsense. I agree that Browns fans are probably the most rabid, loyal group of fans out there - but come on, don't play "blip in time" with a Bengals fan.
  7. I love low light pictures...these are so nicely done - lots of interesting stuff to look at...thanks for posting them!
  8. Wow - very nice!
  9. >why even go downtown? Court appearances. ...wow...he channels the pope! Flawless smart-assitude! Nicely done!
  10. ^And it's on Herrick then? I don't remember seeing it on Torrence - but then, I might have just missed it! I used to be the organist over at Holy Angels, before monsignor Amann retired and they merged the parish with St. Francis...and I lived on Pogue, a block north of O'Bryonville's business district...that's just a fantastic part of town - I'm thrilled to see action there! Are you the owner/developer of the project, or a contractor, or a future tennant, or a mix of all of those?
  11. ^Right - but you're gauging that based on folks in Athens, not folks in Cincinnati...seems like you're missing some very key data points!
  12. ^WTF? You're judging Cincinnati fans based on the whims of OU students? Or am I taking you too literally and you're just joking?
  13. Summit Commons looks rockin' too! Say, can you remind us where exactly that project is?
  14. what do you call bullshit on? that the browns fans are not number one? Ya' gotta start at the top of the thread, Mr. NYC! From grasscat: I call bullshit. Bengals fans aren't loyal? We had to sit through 14 years of bullshit, yet here we are. And Pittsburgh #21? Their fans travel to away games more than any other franchise.
  15. Yeah, those maps rock...very nice find, Mr. Sparkle!
  16. Yeah, I've gotta say, someone who obeys the law, pays his taxes and doesn't make trouble - that guy ain't part of any problem. There are others who may do more for their community than he does, but I would reject the notion that this guy's not doing his part.
  17. I remember some reorganization of seating at different points, so it may well be that the 1994 season was actually at capacity, it's just that capacity was a little lower...I do remember some games being blacked out when I was a kid because they didn't sell out - that must have been some of those mid-80's seasons. And 1994, wasn't that the year they dumped Kosar due to declining skills or some such shyte? Or was that 1993?
  18. The Old Browns weren't selling out every game every season: http://www.kenn.com/sports/football/nfl/nfl_cle_attendance.html ...unless seating capacity changed in the 1994 or 1995 season - which is certainly possible...

Dude, nobody's saying drive the middle-class off. We're talking about balancing the needs of thousands of families negatively impacted by shutting down the stairs, against not the needs, but the incorrect perceptions of a handful of people. Where in the living f*** do you get Leaving Stairs Open = One Giant Social Service Agency? Dude, you're arguing against god knows what, but it ain't the stairs issue...

In the meeting the Keys Crescent residents indicated they would leave town if he steps were not closed. That's just insane. All of a sudden, you're going to move away from your home because of a situation that's obtained for 80 years. Yeah, right, I call bullshit.

Personally, if this is what it takes to keep middle and upper class residents in the city more power to them. Whether it's only perception or not, if this is what it takes to keep these residents in this neighborhood so be it. What middle and upper class residents want - and, I might add, what poorer residents want as well - are safe neighborhoods. Closing off the steps will, guaranteed, do nothing to make the neighborhood more safe. Any petty criminals in the neighborhood ain't coming from the $500K+ homes on the lower section of William Howard Taft, or the new riverfront development on Eastern - they're coming from Evanston and Walnut Hills and East Walnut Hills. Any non-petty criminals ain't gonna be walking. This cuts off a community asset for the sake of what, exactly? Lower crime? Not a chance. A perception of possible extra security for a handful of residents (who all chose to live there with the steps installed), weighed against the reality of a less-rich neighborhood for thousands of families? I'm sorry, I don't see that as a wise choice.
  22. Another reason to hate The Enquirer: they stole the above headline from a Vatican encyclical published 5 months ago! Plagiarizing heretics! That's pretty funny...unfortunately, it was limbo that the Church clarified their (lack of) teaching on, not purgatory, which is alive and well...but hey, you still gave me a chuckle!

WTF? Close them for five years, then analyze crime? What? So Leslie, if crime goes up on Keys Crescent, then you'll re-open the steps? What a bone-headed, dumb-ass move. Christ, this is disgusting.
  24. St. Inkaelin's? Wasn't he a scholar and martyr?
  25. I thought the property tax roll-backs were all city property taxes, not county property taxes...maybe I lost a step in there somewhere?
