  1. Country Club of the North owners want to take club ‘to another level’ David McDonald’s fascination with golf can be traced to his senior year at a Catholic high school in Denver. “My first class of the day was speech,” he said. “I didn’t have to speak every day, and I remember drawing golf holes in class.” Since graduating from the University of Oklahoma, McDonald has worked in a successful family automobile business. He and his brothers operate five dealerships in Littleton, Colo., a Denver suburb. Eighteen years ago he also got into the golf business. God this thread just made my day. On top of the dot matrix printers and VHS, don't forget MSDOS!
  3. Furthermore, I think the whole of the Middletown Mall should be demolished in exchange for office space or smart development. It sits really close to the interstate between two major cities. I believe that would be more beneficial for Middletown.
  4. ^^I think Steiner pulled out after failed negotiations with contractors. Something to do with no available credit or capital I believe. Still, the idea is there for a shopping mall at this interchange and it will have a far-reaching impact on that area's retail.

Also, in part because the site double posted for some odd reason, these pictures remind me of parts of Xenia.

Without the Columbus skyline pics, I would venture to guess this could be any small midwestern industrial town.
  7. This looks eerily similar to a shopping center a developer is wanting to build in Centerville's annexed land in Greene County. Thankfully, that is tied up in court (local jurisdictions fighting over tax money) and hopefully it will stay that way. These types of power centers will look like huge eyesores come 30-40 years, some sooner.
  8. I also noticed Acorn (owned by Christopher Banks) shuttered their store here. Went to their website and found that they had closed all their stores nationwide. Here's their press release: http://www.acornstores.com/Close%20PR%20(FINAL%20-%20073108).pdf
  9. Personally, if it can be guaranteed that the Bombers will stay in Dayton, I'm all for this. Also, as usual, the comment section is chocked full of insane rhetoric. New Hockey Arena Proposed for Downtown By Joanne Huist Smith, Staff Writer Tuesday, February 10, 2009 DAYTON — Costa Papista, the owner or the Dayton Bombers, wants to develop a recreation/multipurpose hockey arena with two sheets of ice on the site of Dave Hall Plaza downtown. Papista, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, said the key to moving the project forward — at a cost of under $30 million — will be bringing the right developer to the table, and, gaining support of the community. "At the moment, I'd say we're working diligently to see if it's feasible," Papista said. "We're doing our homework and part of that is determining if we have community support." Also key, Papista said, is construction at the right price. "It is not going to be the Taj Mahal. It will be a beautiful facility with curb appeal," he said. The arena would connect with the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Dayton Convention Center. The main rink would have seating for up to 5,500, with the practice rink having 400 to 500 seats. The facility would be home to the Bombers and host local youth and adult hockey leagues, high school hockey teams. 10. So is this to replace the Nutter Center which replaced Hara? How large is Nutter compared to this "event center"?
  11. ^Thanks a million! :-D
  12. Agreed on the LV store. I was all, WTF??? Anyways, I'm excited because I'll be in New York visiting a friend at Columbia either on the 28th or 29th. When do the stores start taking stuff down for the season? I vaguely recall them being up after Christmas the last time I was in New York but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone know?

I love everyone's place, especially MTS' and SFSpike's. It beats my room any day, but I work with what I have, which brings me to this. Some of us worked hard in high school and got full scholarships. I refused to live in a cramped room after leaving home. Yeah, apparently being an A(majority)/B student in the top 7% of the class at a top performing public high school doesn't cut it anymore. But I guess there was always some room for improvement. :-( Still, I have been blessed with many wonderful opprotunities and (try to) enjoy them to the fullest.

Yeah, that's where they get you, with the meal plans. If I hadn't spent time in the hospital during the quarter, I'd be left with less than 20 swipes. Still, if every person is leaving with at least 10 unused swipes, the university is making boat loads of money. Then I get screwed when it comes to paying tuition. Yes, thankfully my parents do help, but with my mother out of a well paying job, I don't have as much extra backing. Anyways, I digress. First, the room is actually quite spacious compared to the other 4-person rooms in the building. Second, I have come to love my building and neighborhood, even if it is chocked full of college students. But that's why the #2 bus to Short North or Clintonville is there, to get away from all the craziness that is college. I've fallen in love with mass transit.

Here's my 1903 dorm and room floorplan. There's a spire, balconies, and a freaking sundial on the other end of the building. I overlook a mediocre courtyard, but for a dorm room, it gets the job done.
