  1. The Aloft Beachwood is open. It boasts a colorful, contemporary style, and an "open concept" lobby - very refreshing.
  2. Good spot for a mid-rise apartment building with ground floor retail.
  3. So much surface parking tears the urban soul out of the design
  4. I wonder if the clause stipulating that the majority of retail establishments must not have another location within 20 miles, would allow a store to relocate there if there were no others in the area, for example, if Le Creuset relocated there from Legacy Village. Also, our metro is much more than 20 miles across.....
  5. The Beachwood Aloft is quite a sight a night with its colored light bars and other lighting.
  6. If this were built, how much would a ride likely cost?
  7. Pinecrest is a go.
  8. A few items noticed today: 1. "Deforestation" (land clearing) near Harvard and Richmond just west of the army building up to Eaton Drive 2. Apparent construction between the Aloft and Richmond Rd. Possible restaurant pad? 3. Apartments at Commerce Park progressing. Elevator shafts? sticking up 4-5 stories.
  9. Maybe it should have read 600-650.
  10. I can taste the st honores, croquembouches, mocha tortes, mille feuilles etc already. BRING IT ON.
  11. The figures in the artwork in the picture look like organic (hydrocarbon) chemical diagrams.
  12. In Beachwood, the Aloft construction sign is up, and two cinder block looking support structures are rising from the ground.
  13. I liked the earlier rendering/design better.
  14. I drove by on Lakeside yesterday, and I thought that the slope creating vertical clearance for the Lakeside entrance was a stroke of genius. Not only did it allow for the 30' ceiling height, but it gave the center a street presence that an underground facility would not normally have, as well a raised vantage point from which to view the Lakefront.
  15. Why would you not want a direct, enclosed connection to a large parking garage, ugly though the connection and parking garage may be?
  16. Is the hotel in the Arcade no longer a Hyatt Regency?
  17. Would the slope we see now have been obscured by the piers behind the Old River Road restaurants, where boaters moored their watercraft?
  18. LOL, Sounds like a quote from a Cleveland Browns fan. I am not shocked that Heinens would consider the W117 and Clifton area. With Edgewater and the Gold Coast there is the requisite wealth and sophistication.
  19. If the appeal to the NPS is rejected, is the amount of money that FCM would have to be reimbursed for the loss of the historic credit significant in relation to Casino operations? Also, when does the limitation expire, such that no loss to FCM would occur? Does the loss decrease linearly until the expiration date?
  20. The razing of One, Two, and Three Commerce Park in Beachwood is complete, and debris cleanup is in progress. The site is to become (at least) apartments. Buildings Four and Five are unaffected, and still in use. I was impressed by how large the exposed site really is.
  21. ^^ Maybe it's a hotel un-development. There is a big pile of dirt on the rectangle in front of Lifetime Fitness on Richmond near the new Eaton HQ. Presumably this is the start of site prep for the 135 room Beachwood Aloft Hotel.
  22. I was by there today, and there was a banner opposite the line of restaurant spaces on Rockwell welcoming a vice mayor of a city in China. I do not recall the name of the city.
  23. ^ I guess this relocation to CLE is not that shocking. considering the fact that the 799 pound gorilla of low cost carriers just initiated service from AKC to DEN. Perhaps, Frontier felt that the town (Akron) wasn't big enough for both of them. In Cleveland there is CLE - DEN service on legacy carrier United, which the Frontier LCC service can complement, particularly if it is aimed largely at leisure travelers, which the four flights per week schedule would seem to favor.
  24. Menchies is open
