Will C.S.U. bridge Euclid to connect the new Medical project with the main part of the campus?

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Was the Breuer Tower only half of what was originally planned? I thought there was supposed to be another tower (same style) built such that the total structure would have completely wrapped around the rotunda. It would have replaced 1010 Euclid. I do not know if it would have been the same height. Am I dreaming this?

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
I am curious. The gaming commission put out numbers stating that the Horseshoe was running slightly above expectations in terms of traffic and revenue. It seems to be handling the volume. Where do Caesars and Rock Gaming expect the additional traffic and revenue to support a second (phase 2) casino to come from? 1. More frequent visits by existing gamblers? 2. New visitors, eg conventioneers and tourists? 3. Loyalty program members from elsewhere? Are there an additional 3 million visitors per year "out there" to get to the 8 million visitor expectation for the two casinos combined?

Site prep is underway in earnest at Oakwood. Southbound Warrensville Center Rd has a crossover to the northbound lanes between Bayard and East Antisdale.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
Here's one. Picture a cable car running from the East 9th St Pier south to Superior, then west on Superior to West 6th, north on West 6th to St Clair, west on St Clair and down the hill to West 10th, and finally to West 10th and Main.

I think I am seeing a street or driveway between the apartments and the stairs to the boardwalk. At any rate, I love the rendering, and only hope the reality is that attractive.

Looking at UAL's CLE schedule, the additional flights struck me as Summer travel season adjustments and perhaps some greater business demand. I also noticed other adjustments. PBI year round ERJ service is gone for the first summer in a while. The SEA nonstop started later this year than it has in the past several years. Florida has been skinnied down to summer levels. (I wonder why Miami is not a larger destination - is it AA competition?) The summer 753's to LAX and IAH have been replaced by smaller planes. Looks like there will be some Airbus planes to places that used to be 73X (yeah for people craving that extra inch of seat width) . The additional SFO flight may be to route more people to Pacific destinations, as SFO is a hub. Overall, nothing overly negative. Other stuff I had read early on in the CO-UA merger process that the combined UA would increase IAH and reduce ORD a bit, which struck me as sort of an east - west flow balancing act. I was not sure if the reductions at ORD would impact CLE in any way. Now we have the SW at Hobby brouhaha. Not sure if this will cause a change in strategy. One of the articles recently posted in the CVG thread mentioned that UA was downsizing in CLE. Not sure if there is anything to it or if it is a poor/lazy application of "conventional wisdom". That Michael Boyd who is always quoted as an aviation expert has even changed HIS tune from CLE is toast to CLE is jammin, lol.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I have driven by it several times. Some angles look better than others, but the view toward the Ontario side of the building, at least for now, yells out one word to me: CRATE

I wish AG had gone to Pesht, but I am glad Bob Stark did get his building. I think it will be an exciting development. Reading some of the above comments makes me wonder if the "urbanists" of 150 years ago decried development of far flung areas such as E105 and Euclid.

I see a summary PDF for a CORF grant request for the asbestos removal for Viking Hall and Kinkos with the following quote on page 4. (I have no idea if the request is current/active). "The asbestos removal and demolition of Viking Hall and the former Kinko’s building is ready to move forward upon receipt of grant funds." It mentions developer selection in 2012, with redevelopment slated for 2013. development.cuyahogacounty.us/.../CSU_Viking_CORF_Summary

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
^ Yes, precisely. Hopefully the two exits will be better balanced traffic-wise.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
^ The parking spaces in the foreground belong to the fitness center that is east of the Eaton building. I can't tell yet if Eaton will have surface parking to any degree. They have constructed a large parking garage that you can see in the picture provided by Firenze98. The building came out better than I thought it would based on the original renderings, except perhaps for the blank block for mechanical use at the top. Maybe they will liven that up with their company logo. In my view it has a "citadel on the hill" look. Originally, I thought that the building would be hidden from the public, much like TRW's former campus in Lyndhurst, but it is right "out there." It sits atop the ridge, and its upper floors should have commanding views. It is probably the only office/institutional building in Beachwood portion of Chagrin Highlands large and imposing enough to warrant the setting in which it was placed. The rest of the Beachwood portion of the CH development often resembles a windswept plain. It also shows a very different rear profile to the Commerce Park development, with which Chagrin Highlands will be connected with a new road off Mercantile (yeah! more exits: less backup and better access to I-271). What's amazing though, is that the one "block" containing Eaton and the fitness center could hold numerous other headquarters of that size. On a side note, Beachwood wants to do denser mixed use in Commerce Park itself. Good for them. Urban style development does not need to be restricted to old city centers.

If the area around the Dunham continues to turn into empty prairie, then perhaps the Dunham can revert to its original function. Every other healthline bus could be a stage coach, even!

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I agree with X. There are already huge tracts surrounding the Dunham Tavern city block that no one is currently fighting over. In theory, they could provide the desired density (if there were demand), while allowing the Dunham block to be come a refuge and recreation area, not for lions and bears, but for workers and residents in the surrounding areas, should they ever be developed. That shell of a building* clashes badly with the tavern, so lol, one of the two should come down. Anyway, there is that other smaller building just east of the Tavern with an empty lot fronting Euclid and some sort of a preservation sign - not sure what is happening there. * I had once fancifully suggested that the building shell be converted into a transparent building housing the Museum of Urban Infrastructure and Construction showing off its "innards" in much the same way that Juno the Transparent Woman, once showed off her insides down the street at the Health Museum, but now I think they should just put the building out of its misery and demolish it.

Well, there is an article in this week's Crain's about what it will take to keep the United hub at CLE. Apparently, 17 local travel planners met with the air service development guy at CLE, and also were able to get a meeting with a United Executive. Meanwhile, in another universe, the GCP is doing some kind of marketing plan, for which the upshot appears to be convincing companies to pay potentially higher fares to fly on United than they might have to pay on a competitor. Is that the best they've got? I did not see any references to higher projected O-D traffic due to new developments in NE Ohio, and I really think that is what it would take. However, if the business community really names the initiative "United for United" I will honor them with an official bah dump bump, although if they want to use this name, perhaps someone should introduce the travel planner guys to the GCP guys, lol.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Way way back, there was a plan for a Neiman Marcus and additional stores (new build) built over what is now surface parking behind the Steam Diner food court. The Rock Hall was supposed to be built there too, until its site was changed to the North Coast Harbor (why does the name Mary Rose Oakar flash in my head). Anyway, one wonders what it would have been like if that earlier plan had been carried out (with a casino to be added later to boot).
