Cleveland: Random Development and News
Hey, if they miniaturized the race track, maybe it would fit inside the much maligned loop on the waterfront line north of FEB. You'd have to race something small like mice though.

Ohio River: Bridge Developments & News
Drove the Blennerhasset bridge coming from Athens to I-77. Very nice looking structure. Direct freeway access to I-77 and US-50 toward Clarksburg: priceless!

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
Von Maur did move into Polaris Fashion Place (replacing Lord & Taylor?) on former farmland north of Columbus. It did not move into downtown Columbus. I believe one of the names associated with Polaris is also associated with the Twinsburg proposal. Parkman is fine, as long as they do not tear down that hot dog place east of "town." har har

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
From:http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/service/nmAbout.jhtml "As we approached the turn of the new century, The Galleries of Neiman Marcus debuted, offering an expertly edited assortment of jewelry, tabletop collections, and decorative items in intimate, gallery-like stores in three cities. We began acquiring majority interests in brand-name luxury goods companies such as kate spade and Laura Mercier. " From:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neiman_Marcus "In the late 1990s, the company started a small boutique concept called the "Galleries of Neiman Marcus", which sold jewelry, gifts, and home accessories. The concept struggled and ultimately all three locations, Seattle, Cleveland, and Phoenix, were shuttered. Some believe the locations were wrong and Neiman Marcus officials have hinted the concept might be resurrected." In other words, BIT THE DUST At any rate, I doubt anyone expects Neiman Marcus, or Bloomingdales, or Saks, or Lord and Taylor to show up at Twinsburg, although it would be nice if one did. It would probably be the Dillard's-y sort of thing.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I stopped at 2020, because I had had a great iced coffee (with blended crushed ice) there once before, and the lady, this time, put some caramel sugary mix and cream into the glass with ice cubes, and she must have forgotten the coffee, because it tasted like cream and sugar only. LOL. I am sure I will try again one day.

Oh by the way, regarding Nieman Marcus, they tried the **Sears Hardware -Nieman Marcus style** "The Galleries at Nieman Marcus" at Beachwood Place and it bit the proverbial dust.

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
There is a similar neighborhood just south of Chagrin Falls, another perfect suburb. Discovered it via Habitat for Humanity. Anyway, the proposed mall would serve the Solon-Twinsburg-Hudson alley of affluence, not to mention Bainbridge and Aurora. Beaucoup bucks in these parts and not a department store to be found (sorry Sears Grand, lol). I guess they are supersizing the Wal-Mart in Bainbridge, sigh . Oh wait, there is a Stein Mart in Solon, hey. The commuter rail lines that these affluent people would crowd aboard in droves to come to Downtown Cleveland's amazingly abundant shopping opportunities are not built yet , so they probably drive to Beachwood, or do what many affluent Northeast Ohioans do, shop and spend big bucks out of state (NYC, Chicago, South Florida etc). If this mall is built and is half decent, I would go there. My credit card awaits:-D.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
After doing the Shaker Square farmers market followed by lunch at Yours Truly, we drove down the Corridor Saturday from 89th all the way to Public Square. There was one lane you could use between E9th and the Square. One of the new articulated buses was parked on the East Roadway. Also, it looked like connector streets near Cleveland Clinic near that huge new garage on Carnegie, were nearing completion. Note: on the way, we blundered into the Quincy Ave rehab, but made it through to E89th with shock absorbers intact, lol.

South Euclid: Cedar Center
I had hoped when they started building, that the upper floor in Whole Foods would be a cafe looking out over the Cedar Warrensville corner, in addition to rooftop parking, but it turned out to be just rooftop parking. The western half of the UH side is rehabbed, not even new buildings. And there are still those ugly wooden (wired) poles along the street.....

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
I think my parents used to go to the Tudor Arms for New Years Eve, in its first stint as a hotel over 50 years ago. Glad it's being "recycled." It is a distinctive building, as is the Alcazar up the hill.

South Euclid: Cedar Center
To be honest, I really would be surprised if anything exciting moved in on the South Euclid side. It was sad to see China Gate with its green 1950's Chinese decor die. It was older than me and one of the last surviving Chinese restaurants from my youth. I agree with BizBiz on the building placement and was surprised and disappointed with how they configured the University Heights side, given the amount of room they had to work with. One of the ugliest things about the center in my opinion is the twin rows of wooden poles with the overhead wires and street lights on each curb of Cedar. The cities need to bury the wires and obtain decorative light poles and fixtures. While I know it was a very remote possibility, I had hoped for a more radical change to the overall configuration of the center, such that even the alignment of Cedar iteself was not out of consideration. I was hoping for something denser, maybe more European or Middle Eastern styled, something befitting the area that was once nicknamed the "Gaza Strip". At least there will be some residential use sprinkled in.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^I remember the old days, when the Windermere rapids rode on the LEFT track and switched to the right track at Terminal Tower. Used to board at University Cedar. Anyway I have a question for the RTA gurus. When the Euclid Corridor and the Mayfield Rapid Transit Station are complete, will the 9F bus line be truncated at the Rapid or at Euclid and Mayfield, or will it continue downtown as it does today? I hope at least some trips will continue to Public Square.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I watched it. It gave a simulated tour of the new glass building proposed for south of the Breuer tower. It showed the lobby and a higher level with an outdoor terrace overlooking the E9th and Prospect intersection. In the video, the areas shown looked sterile yet modern and sophisticated. There were no renderings of retail uses within the structure.

Westlake Reed Leskosky gives a big push to the K&D Group's plan to save the Ameritrust complex Posted by Steven Litt/Plain Dealer Architecture Critic July 16, 2008 19:11PM Categories: Arts Impact, Breaking News, News Impact http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2008/07/_a_cleveland_architecture_firm.html#more A Cleveland architecture firm that helped preserve the Playhouse Square theaters in the 1970s and the Warehouse district in the 1980s is throwing its weight behind saving the long-vacant Ameritrust banking complex downtown. Westlake Reed Leskosky on Wednesday unveiled the design for a 13-story office building that will be built immediately south of the 29-story Ameritrust Tower on East Ninth Street and announced it will become the building's first tenant. The firm has a long history of locating its offices in key parts of downtown just before a turnaround...
