I wouldn't tolerate it either, especially in a meeting. But there's a difference between having zero tolerance for something and treating someone like garbage.

Wow. And what makes you think it's okay to treat people like sh!t? I mean, that's what I'm assuming when you say you make Miranda look sweet. It's nice to see someone so gracious when someone else slips up.

MTS, do I have a no blackberry/cellphone/PDA rule in the office. I don't see or hear a blackberry. The last time someones blackberry went off during one of my staff meetings, it was not cute! I made Miranda Priestly look like fairy princess in the manner I let this one staffer have it. Its inexcusable to pick up that damn thing in the middle of a meeting. if its an emergency, have your assistant or another team member interupt. I remember I was at a dinner with a client and my presence was to "seal the deal" with my counterpart at this company. In the middle of the dinner he got a text then a call on his blackberry, and got up from the table and went into the hall. He didn't say excuse me or anything, just put up his finger. He was gone 5 minutes, so i got up to ask if there was a problem. His response, "no". Based on the conversation he was "kii-kiing" with some friends. After another 5 minutes passed, I told my team to get up - we're leaving and we walked right out. The people at Fulton thought it was the service or the apps and were apologising profusely. The moron didn't even know we left until I got in the car and he approached I just rolled up the window. He emailed, called and sent flowers the next day. By then Id already spoken to his boss and had him removed. People like that don't have common sense or social graces. Ouch. That's a joke, right?

Tell that to the people who were tweeting their hearts out in Iran during the street riots. News agencies utilized those tweets to bring camera crews and document the situations as they arose.

Like anything, Twitter can be used and abused. The concept is genius, and it's proved to quite the invaluable tool for getting breaking news out.
  6. Whoa, I just found out what I'll be reading for the next few hours at work. :)

In those situations, the lady pays.

I do the same thing. Some people don't carry cash or use their credit card to charge things so they know exactly how much they are spending. I use my credit card for every purchase. I too do not pay with cash. Ever. I use my check card for everything.
  9. How is deferring payment up to 5 years NOT taking money away from schools in the interim? You just added a qualifier, "in the interim," completely changing your original statement. Okay. How is deferring payment up to 5 years NOT taking money away from schools? They'll receive the money, just at a later date. It takes the money away in the interim, but not indefinitely was the point, I think. This is an example of prioritizing. Some council members, and a lot of citizens, feel that the police force should remain at its current size despite the budget problem. Protection of citizens is being prioritized over other things, rather than a clear cut across the board with no exceptions or priorities. Yeah, I'm not seeing how taking ANY money away, even if it's temporary, is cool for the schools. What are they supposed to do in the interim? I agree with you about prioritizing, though. Why is every Hyde Park cop I see tooling around on a Segway? Who authorized those purchases to be made? Stuff like that burns me up. The city cries broke and it doesn't take much digging around to see why.
  10. That house looks beautiful now. That's yours? I'd love to see more pics. Nice work, indeed.

Oh, God. It doesn't even make a difference if it's warm from someone I know, either. I don't like pooing after my ladyfriend has peed. No warm toilet seats, please. And actually, no warm seats in general.

I got a piece of glass stuck in my eye when the little prawn put his arm up next to Wikus' and tells him that they are the same.

I would've murdered my parents in their sleep if they kept me from going to NYC so I wouldn't miss some school related thing.

  18. Oh man, pretzel sammiches. I'm all over this. Thanks for posting!
  19. "I cannot envision why this would not have broad support," said Councilman Chris Bortz. Um...because it's taking $2.5M away from schools? :?

So, what's the difference with all the stars? Is there a thread breaking it down?

The high school rivalries get ugly when the family gets together? Damn. They play football? Ohio's nothing if not for high school football.

Robert, I'm browsing through your website and I really like your shots of Cincinnat (I haven't gotten around to the others yet). :)

A lot of people are saying it's their favorite of the year. For the people who aren't saying that, what's been your favorite so far this year? I just looked at a list of movies from 2009, and I have to say, it was pretty weak. Of the films that I've seen, I'd pick District 9 and Up as being my favorites.
