Wuss! LOL YOU drink a large toddy from the Coffee Emporium and not shake, damn it! They must be brewing it with cocaine, or something.

This was what I walked away with, too. The first half was excellent. I liked the political aspect of the human/prawn relationship. I was surprised by how much they didn't even try and hide the fact that it's clearly a film about apartheid, with the aliens standing in for oppressed humans. The second have was well done as far as the SFX are concerned, but it was a lot less interesting. All in all, a good movie.

This guy is incredibly stupid and yet I sort of have to hand it to him. If I took in "at least" 50 caffienated drinks in 24 hours, I'm almost positive I would drop dead. I start shaking after a large cold brewed coffee.

So Google's ads try to be relevant? Huh. Doing a piss-poor job then, when I see an ad telling me to text a code to some number to get Harry Reid thrown out of the Senate. In the Restaurants forum.
  5. How are ads placed on the forums? I ask because I keep seeing ridiculous partisan attack ads and I sort of have to wonder if there's some sort of agenda at work here. I understand the necessity of having ad space, but there's got to be a filter or ad package or whatever that prevents bull$hit from being platstered all over the site.
  6. I've been there many a time and have only been stopped by police once. I told him what I was doing (taking pictures) and he told me to make sure I was out by dark. A friend of mine was stopped by a cop when entering the building, and the cop actually walked around the place with her out of curiosity.
  7. I also thought you meant Charles Manson and was confused. :)
  8. There's an organic booth at Findlay Market near the Findley Street lot that I was wondering if anyone knew the name of. The girl working the booth said their farm was in Indian Hill and she told a guy looking for organic eggs that he'd have to stop by the farm. I forgot the name of their farm and Findlay's website is no help. Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

It's now being reported that this Aaron Nelson was charged on 6/6 with abducting and assaulting the woman he later shot on 6/15. So yeah, there you go. There's no reason this @$$hole should've been on the streets. Yay, justice system!

Isn't it the job of the prosecutor to put together a goddamn case? Sounds like someone's not doing their job... Or, y'know, it could be the other way around. This Aaron Nelson could be completely innocent of all the charges that he's been accused of and it's a matter of wrong place/wrong time. Everytime.

So, my girlfriend calls me at work, telling me that she just heard five gunshots fired from outside our apartment. She looks out the window and laying in the Marathon gas station that sits caddy corner to our kitchen window, there's a guy laying in blood while a woman is screaming that he's dead. Awesome. I get off the phone and search for it on the local news websites. WLWT is the first to post anything about it. The police are saying it's a guy, name of Aaron Nelson. He's 22 years old. So I look on the Clerk of Courts' website. I'm not saying he's the same guy on the CoC's site, but there is a 22 year old Aaron Nelson who's been arrested multiple times for classics like burglary, criminal endagerment, obstruction of police business, pot possession, aggravated menacing, criminal damaging...and I'm thinking to myself, "How in the HELL is this guy still on the streets?" Is there anyone out there that works within the justice system and can explain this complete failure of public protection?

judging by the garbage you see in New York galleries, neither can most art school graduates. LOL I can't get it on paper. I can see how something should be built/look in great detail. If I could get that on paper I would be dangerous. you should take a drawing class. The New School offers them at night; also the 92nd St. Y http://www.92y.org/shop/category.asp?category=programs888Classes888Classes %2D Subjects888Art888Drawing888 --that wouldn't be very far if you live in Harlem. I'm not the drawing type. In school I was the "let me put together the best team" type of guy. I create the final look, you kids work out the intricate details. Even at work, I know the art and creative folks think I micromanage, but since I can't do their level of work, I need to sign off on every change. I've been trying to peice together what you do for a living based on some of the posts you've made about your work recently, and I can't figure it out. What the hell do you do?! Moonshine... dear, you really need to visit the urbanbar forum. there are a number of polls/threads about your fellow UO's! I'm a people manager and motivator. :whip: :whip: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,13618.0.html What do you motivate people to do? Quit? Kill themelves?

I agree with this. What I don't agree with is the insane level of bulls#!t art schools will take it to. I mean, there's a difference between teaching figure studies and telling a student that they're not sitting properly to draw the figure studies. It gets pretty asinine.

It's subjective and it's expressive. You can't teach that.
  17. MoonlightOhio replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
Yeah, I don't think an artist needs to be making work to please others.
  18. MoonlightOhio replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
That's totally true. But what artists need to realize is that no one is really "there" yet. Some people are more "there" than others, I guess .. but being "there" just means being more confident in your own ability as an artist. But if you're not constantly evolving and growing as an artist, you're stagnating. It's that simple. And growth takes risk. Sometimes it blows up in your face. But it's helpful to have people tell you when something doesn't work, and it takes humility to not get insecure about it and listen to it and use it instead of get defensive about it and explain why you think everyone but you is wrong. But I'd rather take a risk and have something blow up in my face than play it safe and be a coward all the time. The problem I had with art school stemmed from my total misconception of what art school was supposed to be. I went in thinking that my creativity was going to be embraced and nurtured. To me, art is all about expression. I gravitate towards musicians who tend to be more creative and have more, for lack of a better term, soul, than musicians who are classically trained. It's the same for visual arts, too. So when I went in and was immediately told that while my work was excellent, I was "doing it wrong," I took offense. I realize now that the point of art school is to teach you how to make art, but not necessarily how to be an artist. Which ultimately, is completely pointless.

Better question is why would anyone have a Freddie Mercury avatar? Creepy obsession, perhaps? I think the best question would be why UO has a Freddie Mercury avatar as an option.
  20. I love Val Kilmer.

If the material is decent, she'll win the Oscar for that for sure.
  24. MoonlightOhio replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
Yeah, I think it's more a case of people being insecure about their work. When you're insecure about your own work, you're not going to be 100% honest with someone about their stuff for fear of what they'll say about yours.
