Streep's playing Julia Child? That's genius casting! I wonder how they'll make her look 8 feet tall, though...

Photobucket's blocked here at work. The joke is lost on me. :(

Pet Peeves!
Yeah well, most older folks don't know diddly squat about the present, so it all evens out in the end. :)

Damn Whippersnappers! You can only teach a few. I don't know how old you or anyone else on UO is, but I'm 25. I'd expect every other person my age to be able to correctly identify someone like Freddie Mercury.

Art School
I was just talking about this topic with a friend who now teaches at DAAP. We both had the same opinion of the crits, in that they were basically worthless because no one had (or still has) the balls to tell you what they really think. Everyone was too polite and it destroyed the purpose of the crit.

I dated a girl in college who once picked up my Aladdin Sane CD off the floor and asked me who "this crazy guy" was. It didn't last.

Moral Dilemma-What if anything should I do?
Clearly, this woman is totally legit. You should follow her instructions exactly. Congrats on the new money!

DanB should rent a cop uniform and go over to the park, confiscate all the booze and go back home to have his own party.

How can so many of you not know what Freddie Mercury looks like?

I thought Angels and Demons was ok. On an unrelated topic, I just got offered a new job. I'm still working at the same place and making the same salary, but its a different department on a different floor. Maybe this means I'll be a little less bored with my work and spend more time doing it instead of playing on the internet. Congrats on the new job, although more money would've been nice, I'm sure. I didn't outright hate Angels and Demons. I just didn't like it all that much. I was still entertained.

YES, watch Doubt ... great movie! I forgot the directors name, but I think this is his first film??? He's used to shows on Broadway. You didn't like Angels and Demons? Anyone see Valkyrie? It should be arriving today from Netflix on Blu-Ray! Doubt is on my Netflix list, and should be coming up soon. Angels and Demons just had a weak plot. The subject matter is fascinating, but the story they came up with was terrible.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
MoonlightOhio replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentBurger Beer is cool and all, but there's not much that separates it from the rest of the American adjunct lagers dominating the market. Cincinnati needs more craft breweries that are more widely accessible. Mt. Carmel is just about the only one you can find in retail locations. The Barrelhouse needs to start attacking that market.

YES! My girlfriend didn't like it all, but I thought it was great. I thought Bale did a great job of playing John Connor as a grizzled war vet. And Yelchin's Kyle Reese was near perfect. Plus, the grainy, washed out cinematography was perfect for the wasteland setting. Wait until you see HP! It will knock your socks off. HP? Harry Potter? I'm looking forward to that one. My problem with the last one was that it seemed to be a bunch of scenes edited together to make a 2 hour film, instead of telling a complete story in a 2 hour timeframe. But it was sill entertaining. They could use more Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman, though.

Moral Dilemma-What if anything should I do?
All this talk of alcohol and public parks had got me feeling nostalgic. Anyone in the Cincinnati area know of the train track bridge(s) in Ault Park? We used bring cases of beer up there all the time. Ah, youth.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
MoonlightOhio replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentBut you never see Jim Koch and Sam Adams active in the community like Greg and Christian Moerlein is. Most people have no idea Sam Adams is brewed here. Yeah, Moerlein might not be brewed here now, but their presence is felt. They're a staple at Findlay Market, what with their Beer Garden. I think they'll make a full return to the area.

Whoever supplied the alcohol is liable, yes. Did you call the folks?

Anyone seen any good movies recently? The last ones I went to the theater to see were Angels and Demons (which was pretty bad), Terminator Salvation (which I liked a lot) and Wolverine (which was awful, but entertaining).

Call the parents. This isn't rocket science. Call the kid's folks and find out the real story. If everything seems kosher, let the daughter go the party. DanB can even stick around for a while to make sure it's going as planned.

Edale, how can there be adult supervision at a public park. If the kids get a hold of some hooch, they're not going to do it in the main space the party is being held (at least I hope these kids aren't that stupid). They are going to go someplace else in the park. what is your definition of a "formal party"? don't even try to bring gay marriage into this. You're comparing mangos to kiwi fruit! Lets review. Kids being served alcohol regardless of venue is illegal. False. Then please tell me the name and location of any venue that can serve alcohol to minors? And please no juke joints or moonshine palaces that you folks down in southern ohio feel is apart of your culture. :-D Like I've mentioned about a million times now, a parent can give alcohol to their kid. Ergo, it's NOT illegal to furnish alcohol to minors, albeit in some situations. Oh, and churches. :)

I guess he figured you give it to a drunk teen! LOL What? Why would I give money, counterfeit or otherwise, to a teen, drunk or otherwise?
