  1. Edale, how can there be adult supervision at a public park. If the kids get a hold of some hooch, they're not going to do it in the main space the party is being held (at least I hope these kids aren't that stupid). They are going to go someplace else in the park. what is your definition of a "formal party"? don't even try to bring gay marriage into this. You're comparing mangos to kiwi fruit! Lets review. Kids being served alcohol regardless of venue is illegal. False.

The woman on the left is hot. I love women that are in really good shape like that. I don't find it threatening at all. Unless they're lesbian -- they scare the sh!t out of me. They're so violent. Yeah, I said it! I speak from experience. I won't go in to Home Depot or walk around Westgate Park without my chest puffed out after the Jimmy John's incident. All lesbian women are violent? Are you, like, retarded or something? No, he's just a wuss! >:D That's even better. :)

I cashed a check once and as the teller was counting the money, he came across a counterfeit bill, mentioned that it was counterfeit and proceeded to leave it in with the rest of the bills that he handed to me. Confused, I just sort of looked at the money in my hand and looked back at him. I slid the bill across the counter and told him I didn't want this one, and he looked at me for a minute before taking the bill and telling me that it was no problem to switch it out. I don't bank there anymore.

  9. Actually I think you were right the first time. Either way, only kids whose parents are there serving them could legally have alcohol, and they each would have to be served by their own parent. This is what I get for trying to post while working. I have no idea what happened, but I think I misread what I originally posted, corrected, read it again and saw that it was correct the first time, blah blah blah... But yes, you are correct. Is it likely that every child's parent is present, okaying their children's alcohol consumption? No, probably not. But it would be legal. That was my main point.
  10. So you think all kids at this graduation party will be under direct guardianship of an adult at the party? Of course that may be the case, but you'd have to be living in a fantasy world if you actually think that it probably will be the case. Do I think every child at that party will have their parents present and accounted for? Of course not. I never said or implied that. What I did say is that it's legal for a parent or guardian to supply alcohol to a minor, so long as that minor is their child.
  11. Why is this difficult? It is NOT illegal to furnish minors with alcoholic beverages UNLESS said minors are not under the direct guardianship of the adult. Please cite a source. thanks Here you go: http://www.alcoholpolicy.niaaa.nih.gov/index.asp?Type=BAS_APIS&SEC=%7BB7EBF080-DB1F-4092-9897-E3F083BB3075%7D

  13. There is no concrete evidence that suggests that the alcohol mentioned in the invitation is to be served to minors. well there is no concrete evidence that adults even made the invitation either, but as alcohol is being served a parent would err on the side of safety, common sense and lawfulness with their child. And do the sensible thing like call the parents of the host and find out for himself what the party is about instead of creating a goofy thread on a message board? In this we are in agreement. :)

  15. The Helles Lager is a staple at my house. Nothing groundbreaking, just top quality local beer.
  16. I'd love to visit. Hell, I'd love to live there.
  17. It's not illegal to bring alcohol into a park if you have a permit. It's also not hard to get a permit for that.
  18. Okay, I'm confused. Are you referring to the French Quarter in New Orleans? I thought you meant in your original post that was another French Quarter, somewhere else.
  19. There is a big difference between your parents and some friends giving you a few drinks, and advertising a graduation party at a public park as having alcohol. I know from experience there is about a 99% chance this is going to be an underage drunkfest enabled by a small set of parents. I have seen it over and over again. I could be wrong, but I'd be shocked. I'm an advocate for the drinking age to be lowered to 18, but I still think it'd be wrong to have a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION PARTY in a PUBLIC PARK with invitations being sent out to high school age kids advertising free alcohol. That right there tells me enough about the judgement of the adults involved. Which is why the most likely scenario involves the adults partaking, while the kids run around playing ultimate frisbee or something. And one other point: you're all assuming that DanB's kid and his kid's friends are the types to have a drunken mess of a party. What if DanB's kid is a--for lack of a better term--loser? Anyone ever think of that? Maybe they like to sit around drinking Mountain Dew and playing D&D.
  20. Uh, where else is it?

Why should a person die for a country that inhibits their rights? It makes no sense. You can vote at 18 correct? The majority rules. It is what it is. Oh, I missed the part about things being what they are to mean that they are then automatically just or even logical.

  25. My first thought upon reading the thread title was, "My house." But when I'm out and about, I can usually be found at the Coffee Emporium, either the Hyde Park or Downtown locations. Lately, I've been playing a lot in Eden Park, mostly frisbee and kite flying.
