Cleveland/Northeast Ohio - Where are some good Salsa dance clubs?
It's not in NE Ohio and probably doesn't help you at all, but if you ever find yourself in Cincinnati on a Monday, the Mad Frog in Corryville hosts Tropicoso for a salsa night. It's pretty fun.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
For some reason, my work blocks Cannondale's website. The Trek Soho S bike looks slick, though. It's a singlespeed, though. Is that not going to be a problem what with all of the hills around town?

They have (or did have up until 3 years ago) Shop Rites in Dayton. Nastiest little stores I've ever been to.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
MoonlightOhio replied to CincyImages's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI imagine the Lager House is going to offer more than a handful of beers. As such, I'd expect Burger (a better than average macro) and Hudy, both being cornerstones of Cincinnati beer history, to be among them. It's not hard to include Bud Light and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA on the same beer list, guys.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
Another big concern for me is being taken. I obviously don't know up from down with bikes, and I don't want to be upsold on a bike when I could've purchased one that suits my needs for a lesser price. I tend to take everything a salesman says with a grain of salt and end up either thanking myself later or kicking myself.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
Hey guys, I'm looking to get a bike for exercise and for generally tooling around around town. I didn't know where to ask, so I'll ask it here: what kind of bike should I be looking at? My main concern is my build. I'm a big guy, and I'm not looking to bang my knees on the handlebars, y'know? I also don't want to be hunched over all the time. Any suggestions?

I think that's actually something that's a Cincinnati trait. I've never heard it outside the city.

Americans fleeing nation's big cities
I meant Lousiana! Seriously, I meant LV. I don't know if it was a typo or if I was subconciously thinking about about LA (I'm working on a story set in Laurel Canyon). Nevada desert, 30 minutes outside of LAS VEGAS.

So you do have a blocked artery? That's no joke, man. Are they just going to put you on blood thinners to try to get it work itself out?

"Hotness" of food doesn't come from acid, though that's a common misconception. It's a chemical compound known as caspacin. Oh, I know. I didn't say the heat comes from acid, I said a lot of spicy foods have high acidity levels. And DanB, did they check you out for GERD?

Red River Gorgeous
In a few short weeks, I'll be relaxing and hiking through Red River Gorge myself. Good stuff.

Cincinnati: Riverfest 2009 and Parker Flats.
Awesome shots. I really like the one of the Hudy brewery.

The funny thing about those challenges is that your taste buds can only register a certain amount of flavor. I don't know the technical measurements, and obviously everyone's tongue is different, but there is a limit to what we as humans can experience. It's the same thing with IBU's (international bitterness units) in beer. A current trend in American craft beer is to brew it as hoppy as possible, but the human threshold is about 100 IBU's, thus rendering beers advertised as having IBU's higher than that useless and purely for marketing purposes.

I can usually handle the mouth and throat pain when it comes to hot foods. My stomach just can't handle it. The acidity levels in spicy foods kill me dead.

The only thing worse than listening to Kroger talk about their rotissiere chicken is eating their rotissiere chicken.

Americans fleeing nation's big cities
The idea. I'm biased, as I'm a "city" guy. I couldn't live in the exuburs, countryside, etc. Like I mentioned before, I'm a city guy, too. That's why I'm gravitating toward the Nevada desert. Somewhere 30 minutes outside LA. 30 Minutes?? LA is very spread out. I think you mean 3 hours outside of LA. Nah, it's 30 minutes. I know my geography, MTS, and I know folks who live out there. :) My brother got a quarter acre in the middle of the desert for $500. He hasn't been able to find find it yet... needs to hire a surveyor, and there are no roads to it. The money would have been better spent buying a vacant inner city home in the midwest IMO Huh. Sounds like your brother put the cart before the horse, there.

Well I wouldn't say it was terrible for me but I'm sure it was pretty rough for some people. I know people who were sick and elderly didn't fare so well during that time. Especially if they depended on electricity to run medical equipment they needed. Also if anyone had damage to their house or car or person .... I think I remember that at least two people were killed from it here in Ohio. Crap, I forgot all about that. I know the sister of one of the people killed. She was sitting in her living room and the tree in the front yard fell over, smashed through the house and killed her. Absolutely terrible.

The People of Walmart
The last time I went into a Wal-Mart (YEARS ago, can't remember the reason, had consumed copious amounts of alcohol), right there at the entrace was a dirty diaper, open on the floor. We turned and walked right back out.

You like sitting in the dark for days..... If that's as creative as you can get, than I feel for you, truely. There's a lot one can do without electricity. FYI, there's a reason a lot of babies are born 9 months after a blackout. :)

I deny overtime to my employees. Overtime is seriously a killer to my bottom line, and I can not have people on it. Which is perfectly understandable. But having your employees work more than 40 hours a week and denying them overtime pay is not okay. It's illegal, and for good reason.
