  1. There is a functional residential vacancy rate in the basin of 0% and 3CDC, in its history of existence, has delivered about 10% of the conservative estimated demand for housing. Industrial vacancy is pushing 4% (can you believe it?!), while commercial is sitting at about 15% vacancy. Why they are building office on a residential side street in a 0% residential vacancy market is beyond speculation.
  2. The tunnel is the key.
  3. The reaction from the Pendleton community council kind of explains why they didn't get input from the Pendleton community council.

Actually, it's not really our fortunes as much as it is our location, which is basically a rain forest that freezes in the winter. We are east of water (Great Lakes) and west of a mountain range (Appalachians). By North American standards, we do not have great weather. We are blessed though with almost unlimited fresh water. We dodged a bullet last night. And it looks like if we can just avoid the tail-end of this squall that a low pressure centered over Michigan is spinning off we might be dry for All-Star Tuesday. Haha I agree with you. Bullet was dodged.

It might change, but looks like the weather is on track to completely rain out every day of the ASG festivities except for today, and then right on cue move out of the region when its over. Sucks though for the city's image to be under a dreary stormcloud, considering all the work it did to get ready. Bright side: I guess everything will be spiffed up for Cincinnatians to enjoy when it's 90 and sunny for the rest of July.
  7. If by dictate all local governments within greater Cincinnati were dissolved and put under a metro government with neighborhood councils, it would be an absolute tragedy and incomprehensible affront to democracy as we know it. And future generations would look back on the way things are now as barbaric and wonder how we got anything done.
  8. I don't think it was the wire they were reacting to, but the cross arms.
  9. If you haven't been thrown up on by a dudebro, clueless exchange student, or drag queen while riding rail transit at 2 AM, you're not in a real city.
  10. Took my 65 year old suburban parents down to Findlay and the new park last Saturday. One is a little Fox News clone so I don't listen to anything he says, but mom is pretty fair, and she almost wept at how ugly the overhead wire system has made Race and Elm. I didn't prime them for it or anything. It was their unsolicited reaction.
  11. Nice! There should be an ordinance that you can't wall off your cafe seating with steel tube utility fences.
  12. 5th and Walnut?
  13. What is this abomination they have created?
  14. This developer purposefully misled the Oakley council and certain parts of the city government to get a fast, cheap, profitable development. It is crap by intention.
  15. Thanks! In my limited urban biking experience, it's the interaction between more than two modes of transportaion that I found most dangerous. Cars themselves didn't feel so dangerous, but car pedestrian bike, bike bus car, and bike pedestrian segway were prone to chaos. So I think I'd stay in the open lane.
  16. Where is she supposed to ride? Inside the tracks? Nearer to the parking lane? In the left lane?
  17. CAGIS says the city owns almost everything north of 13th and west of Sycamore. I just assumed it was already park land. If it's not there's no reason to keep it.

  19. This would feel so much better :(

Extrapolating the architect's rendering in Photoshop and applying it to a Sketchup model, here is a rough (*rough*) rendering of a tower at 275' at that location: Columbia Parkway westbound Reading Road northbound at the casino From the top of the Kroger building
  21. Alright guys, I hate to come in and mix it up again, but seriously, THE POLES HOLDING THE OVERHEAD WIRE ARE HORRENDOUS. They are horribly bright in the sun, and are so numerous and intrusive as to practically ruin the long view down Elm and Race. Two streets that have had millions -and years- put into their beautification. Looking at Portland, I can't find any images that are even a fraction as jarring as OTR. Will these things oxidize and fade over time? Can they be painted at all? Someone dropped the ball with this, in my opinion.

    That's usually me.
  23. It's just paint. They could repaint it wherever they want and put in those flashy things. But frankly, yesterday we just jaywalked across the road wherever we damn well pleased. The traffic is light.
  24. I went down there to check it out on the first day of summer. I was stricken by HOW LUSH everything is, thanks rain! It was also much more beautiful than I could have imagined, especially east of the suspension bridge. The tunnel under the bridge got a nice treatment as well. It's very clean and has bathrooms. As you can see, there were tons of people there. It has propelled downtown Cincinnati into a higher tier of downtowns; in my opinion, easily the best urban experience in Ohio.
