Akron: Random Development and News
I just drove past the state rd shopping center... part of the ward autocenter has been torn down. thats about all for now... looks as if they just too a few swings at it. meanwhile I drove into downtown Akron. Many faces over by the new student housing. seems like that area will be busy.

Akron: Need some entertainment suggestions
To be honest with you there is hardly anything to do in Akron around 9 or 10 pm on a friday night other then bars/clubs or a movie theatre.. (I know its very sad) My suggestion would be to walk around downtown hand in hand with your lady and take up some of the sights and sounds of DT Akron @ night. (I always do that when I visit a mid to major city) The roof cloud will be lit up over the art museum so that would be a neat picture. Perhaps share a milkshake on the rooftop patio @ the lockview on main st. Then walk along the canal for a few minutes. I'd also say go to luigis.(known for its pizza) Its an Akron institute just like Swensons.(known for its cheeseburger, the galley boy) Both are eateries though. Which ever you do.. Enjoy Akron

Urban Ohio or 3-C Circle Jerk
I've found that the people from the smaller cities actually post a comment when a topic is directed toward that city. I'm from Akron and I try to write in every Akron related topic. There is not a lot of Rubber City representation on here. The 3 c's have topics with a lot of views but comments posted @ 5-10%. (Not exact for every topic)

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
I'm saying rt 8 should have an exit/entrance @ exchange st. With the stadium on exchange and maybe a new arena on or near the same street people attending games would benefit. Can u imagine traffic issues that will happen with so many having to go over to where that parking deck is to get on rt 8. Its not made for much traffic there. Makes better sense to have it at a major rd that can handle the traffic.

That would be a decent place for an arena.. Although wouldn't that also add the need for an onramp there to rt 8 south right there?

Things you can do without to save $4.00 per month
I wonder if someone from a temp agency would go out on a busy public intersection and hold up a sign that states "food for willing workers" Could be apart of Obamas job stimulus plan.

Things you can do without to save $4.00 per month
Wow... one less forum to visit will save 4 dollars a month... wonder which forum that will be.. Hmm Take 4 dollars that you would give UO and give it to a homeless person.. Pay him/her to hold up an "UrbanOhio.com" sign at highway exits instead of "will work for food" sign. That way ur benefitting UO and the community by employing jobless and advertising UO. Win/Win solution.

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
Great points nicely stated. The JAR is small and somewhat outdated. It was built for a smaller university population so with a new Stadium for football the need for a new arena will be forth coming. Integration of an arena for public use in (as in the exchange st dorms with retail on first floor) and near by would benifit the university greatly.

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
I agree with jeremy on the whole post it only once theory however calling someone out for not doing so on the public thread is somewhat improper. It is viewed as being said in a rude manner. That is one of the things private messages are for. You'll get your point across and it won't be taken rudely (unless worded rudely) since its private.

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
The city would like an arena to attract concerts and conventions and such. The university will need a new arena soon. (With more on campus students who want/will attend games) It seem logical that both parties come together to meet this need. The city will want it downtown and the University will want it on campus. A logical location is where the campus mets downtown. I'd check into seeing it the ABJ would sell it wearhouse and build the Arena there. Plenty of room edge of downtown and edge of campus. Or another possibility is to relocate whatever is in that lil building across form the law library and EJT and place the arena there. There wouldn't be room for parking so many will park downtown and that is on campus. Could create an Arts/entertainment district on campus that downtown could advertise to visitors. I don't think that UA will keep quaker square after it has built enough dorms. They'll try to sell that off to a hotel chain a few years down the line.

Akron: Rolling Acres Mall
I was up there today @ the sears to go to the dentist.. JC Penny outlet and Sears are doing fine (more so JCP) .. The mall is ghostly. Potholes all over and mall security is a middle aged woman in a rusty minivan. It was up for auction early last month.. No bids.. Sad
