Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I think Tucker and Ellis is supposed to be going in that building. I'm really hoping that we'll see Ernst and Young helping to spur more development elsewhere. The Eaton "campus" doesn't look nearly as bad as I was imagining that it might, but this is just a massing, right?

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
It doesn't look like there is any place for Ernst and Young in that massing. Does that mean we can assume that they are looking elsewhere (Stark, K&D maybe)?

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
Awesome, KJP. I want to frame that quote.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
I don't have any statistics here, but I'm pretty sure there is not a plethora of people living in downtown apartments and working out in the suburbs. However, you may be right about people from other parts of the city moving out to the suburbs. The fact is that there is going to be an increasing tendancy for people to want to live where they work because of the rise in gas prices. That will mean SOME people leaving the city, but I think that the primary result will be a consolodation of the metro area that will bring many people back to Cleveland and into downtown. That is the very thing that makes potential projects such as this, FEB, the avenue district, and K&D's proposal for the breuer tower so important.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The idea of expanding north onto lakefront property struck me as a little bit off too. I am far from an expert in this area, but it seems to me that I might find myself asking if this is the best use of such prime land if at some point in the future the convention center began to expand more towards the lake. I'm glad to see that I am not the only one considering this aspect of the proposal.

Cleveland Water
Milwaukee is definitely a city with a lot of experience in dealing with water pollution. Lake Michigan gets progressively more disgusting the closer you get to Chicago. Having two cities so close lying directly on the lake is a real stress on the environment. There's a lot of density around that area to cause pollution, and it takes strong ideas like this to keep the situation livable.

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
^It's stupid comments like that that sometimes make me momentarily lose faith in humanity.

Cleveland: Port Authority News & Info
As KJP pointed out the other day, there's no way to please everybody. No matter where you put it, there's always going to be someone just waiting to complain and talk about how they would've done such a better job choosing a new location.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
I think the thing that bothers me the most about this is that I know I will hate whatever they end up putting there. I know the Clinic says that they are planning to eventually build on this spot, but the Clinic has yet to build something I actually like. The fact that it is going to sit as a parking lot for an undetermined amount of time while they decide if and what they want to put there just frustrates me even more. No matter what the long term situation for this land is, destroying that building is a terrible idea.

Clinton v. Obama
^I know several people in the Cleveland area who are planning to cast their vote to Obama just to stop Hillary.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I really wish that I could believe this, but I have zero confidence in the county. No matter how much we speculate, there is no way that we could ever know what those idiots are thinking. They even say at the end of the article that they are willing to go ahead with their previous plan and demolish it if they don't get a bid that they like.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Unreal. Does anyone think that K&D might come back with a new offer, or has the county just destroyed the only prospect that they had?

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
I was waiting in line to vote in Wisconsin on Tuesday, and I started talking to the guy in line behind me. I happened to mention that I was born in Cleveland and he said, "I've been to Cleveland recently. That city is absolutely beautiful!"

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
The PD never ceases to amaze me. How does an article about how Cleveland doesn't drink as much coffee as other big cities evolve into a bag of inappropriate and inaccurate complaints about how there are no jobs and too many potholes? I can't remember where, but somebody posted in a different thread a couple of months ago that nobody at the PD even enjoys sex. More proof right there.

My trip to Cleveland - November 21, 2007
It's good to hear that you are interested in moving into Cleveland. I'm currently a senior at a small university in Wisconsin, and am also hoping to move back to Cleveland after I graduate. A lot of the pictures you took really help to emphasis some of the progress being made in Cleveland right now. I think that it exemplifies the type of environment that many college students would like to find themselves in after they graduate.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
That would be awesome if they ended up putting a high rise condo tower on that corner. That area is really going to build out nicely.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Thanks, Mayday. That sounds a lot more doable. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they already have more than half of the lofts sold. I'd imagine that most of the rest will begin to move once this nears completion and the public gets to see how it is actually shaping up.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Are we talking that they have to sell every last unit, or that they just have to have the vast majority of them sold?
-
Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
^^I'm not happy about it either, bizbiz. Still, nothing is certain until they actually buy the property and get in the ground. I'm holding out hope that they'll lose interest and leave the area alone.
-
Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I love how all of the comments on the article were complaining about how none of it was true at all. It never ceases to amaze me the masses of idiots on cleveland.com that love to just piss and moan about the city. Whatever. Go Cleveland!

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Check out the webcam when you get a chance. They put up some scaffolding today. http://www.theavenuedistrict.com/newlayout/webcam.asp

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I highly doubt that Eaton is building a campus because they are worried that terrorists will attack them if they build more virtically.
-
Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
LOL. Sorry, Florida Guy! I haven't been to Cleveland in a couple of months and I guess I'm getting a little bit rusty on direction in my head.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
My mistake if I had misunderstood where you guys were talking about. I was thinking about the gas station across the street from the new Target on W 117th. The area I'm thinking of goes along the highway, across from the Target, and along Western.
