^a 1x/day, what's the point? AA would have been better off adding to CLE-LGA.
  2. Thanks KJP. Interesting (and sad) website. Looks like they were ultimately bought out by Sumitomo: http://www.vandorndemag.com/ Another post on that site caught my eye: http://abandonedonline.net/2015/05/22/onward-to-cleveland/

    ...and in Cleveland, ....
  4. There's a name I haven't heard in a while. What ever happened to them? The Shaker lines are light rail. The red line is heavy rail.
  5. ^Good news indeed. from the article: The acquired company was based in San Francisco. "The company has nearly 2,500 employees at offices in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Burbank, California." They should move the remaining SF jobs here too.
  6. Thanks. I see the typical horrible setback from the street of CC buildings. What's the cross street? Does this replace the Cle Clinic Guest House--which I think was at 96 St--which was built for the Shah and his entourage?
  7. KJP---a drive by shooting of which project/bldg?---no identifying markers!
  8. ^they were likely included in the city's number/promise for the RNC.
  9. Cleveland Leaders Bypass Prosecutors to Seek Charge in Tamir Rice Case Community leaders in Cleveland, distrustful of the criminal justice system, said Monday that they would not wait for prosecutors to decide whether to file charges against the police officers involved in the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice last year. Instead, they will invoke a seldom-used Ohio law and go directly to a judge to request murder charges against the officers. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/09/us/cleveland-leaders-bypass-prosecutors-to-seek-charge-in-tamir-rice-case.html?_r=0
  10. wow....Cleveland has really fallen--only 7 companies, compared to Cincinnati's 10!

^#1 may be true, but there's gotta be far more to #2 than what you wrote (and what he is saying publicly).

^what did he actually do? And why did the previous mayor resign so abruptly after being in power for so long---making him unable to complete his current term?
  13. ^Kinda crazy Forest City will invest in Baltimore, but not Cleveland.
  14. ^Speaking of Detroit and their tenant airlines: Delta will begin once weekly flights between CLE and Orlando beginning Dec 19 on an Embraer 175. MCO1105 - 1335CLE E75 6 CLE1405 - 1635MCO E75 6 Not a lot of service, but its something. There will now be five carriers on this route. In addition to DL, there will be UA, Spirit, Southwest, and Frontier.
  15. New Brazilian restaurant just opened in Larchmere: http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/05/new_brazilian_bistro-bar_bring.html
  16. ^Yes, good not to read too much into these estimates. Yes, they said CLE as of 2014 had 389,521 people and in 2013 it had 391,156. But LAST YEAR, it said, in 2013, CLE had 390,113, so they're clearly low-balling Cleveland. For all we know, CLE could have more people today than in 2013. But what's more interesting---if you accept the Census numbers as accurate, Cleveland lost LESS people percentagewise than Lakewood, Shaker Hts, Cleveland Hts, and a bunch of suburbs.

^Did anybody here attend? If so, anything to share?
  18. ^From my experience with AC--and this was at Montreal, not Toronto--I would never fly them again either. The absolute worst customer service front-facing staff I have ever dealt with on any airline in the world. On my flight searches on Kayak, one of the first things I do is open the 'layovers' button, and then turn off Toronto as a connection point, so as to remove all Air Canada options.
  19. ^The change to CLE is this: CLE-DEN new CLE-MDW 5x (down from 6x -- one flight lost per day) CLE-BNA 2x (down from 3x)
  20. ^"Published: May 14, 2015 - 12:07 PM | Updated: May 14, 2015 - 12:19 PM" As is often true, the news breaks here on UO first!
  21. ^If an airline were to build a hub here, it would have far more to do with its own growth and strategy than 2mm more pax at Hopkins, though I guess CLE as a facility isn't great, but the discussion here is on location within Cleveland rather than the facility itself. Its interesting that you mention Richfield. A few decades ago, the Richfield Coliseum was built there precisely as it was between Cleveland and Akron. Rock concerts, the Cavs, the Force, and some other teams played there....but you can see where that location strategy ended up today! http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/09/remembering_the_coliseum_at_ri.html

Tonight (5/14) at BKL, 4-7pm. from the PD (though you could probably only find such a story if really tried hard to find it [and knew it was there]): "CLEVELAND, Ohio -- What projects should unfold in coming years at Burke Lakefront Airport? You can head to the airport tomorrow to weigh in. The city of Cleveland's Department of Port Control is hosting a public information session and airport layout plan update at the existing Burke terminal, 1501 North Marginal Road in Cleveland. The open house is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m..... http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/05/burke_lakefront_airports_propo.html
  23. Its in their schedule update, released this morning. If you want to see the DEN flight, go to southwest's site and try to book a flight tomorrow vs. say, December. Today, you won't see CLE-DEN, but in Dec you will. (and the opposite will be true for CAK-DEN).
  24. see Southwest's latest schedule release. I don't know of any news story.
