  1. ^why would the entire east side rail system shut down for an innerbelt thing? if it really gets that close, why not operate to 34 St and provide shuttle buses to public square? RTA could have charged those costs to the ODOT project. Or maybe they're trying to say, see? we don't the rapid system on weekends.
  2. Even a five story apt building would be better and you don't need an elevator for 5-6 stories.

AirTran is down 10% YoY January. It looks like a lot of the folks that abandoned Hopkins for the cheaper fares out CAK are returning to CLE. So, at this time, its a curious move by Southwest as this is an actual expansion of service as they never served CAK before (not counting AirTran).
  4. As the May Co. project didn't get that big $25m tax award they were seeking, is this project still moving forward?
  5. ^ 10. Cincinnati Median rent 2BR: $2,138 $2138---really? seems a little high...
  6. Re: "Chicago-Based Soul Food Joint to Plant Flag in Downtown Cleveland", a few posts up: While I hope the food is good, and doesn't hurt Stone Town with the same cuisine, just a block or two away, what an awful awful name---especially if this restaurant is to be in Cleveland or ANYWHERE outside of Chicago. Who in Cleveland would want to see a sign on a major Downtown Street that says, Chicago's Home of anything?... 'Chicago Chicken & Waffle House' is one thing, but "Chicago's Home of...?" If they had thought of ever expanding outside of Chicago, they should have developed a better name.
  7. JetBlue will use Gate C4, in case anyone was wondering.
  8. 90s? It may have been re-habbed in the 90's, but if memory serves correctly, this building was the old Standard Theater.
  9. ^The CEI power station IS closed, as far as I know: From PD in Feb 2014: "FirstEnergy Corp. will close its Eastlake and downtown Lake Shore power plants this fall rather than next year as planned." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/02/firstenergy_to_close_eastlake.html or are you referring to the CPP power station east of BKL on North Marginal?
  10. 11 stories/196 units doesn't sound like much. What were these numbers when it was originally announced?
  11. ^I wholeheartedly agree!
  12. Doesn't the city own the I-X center? In other words, it is in the power of the city to drive this business downtown.

At the CLE Int'l Film Festival now---this looks like a good watch: "Traficant: The Congressman of Crimetown" PD Review: "A good story writes itself and anyone that has followed the stormy career of Youngstown politico James Traficant will tell you that he was a good story. But "Traficant: The Congressman of Crimetown" is more than a good story or a good film. It's colorful, entertaining, insightful, well-paced-and-edited and stellar all the way around. Yes, director Eric Murphy focuses on Traficant, a colorful rogue who served as Sheriff of Mahoning County and U.S. Congressman and ended up serving time in prison for taking bribes....." http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/03/traficant_the_congressman_of_c.html#incart_river
  14. ^Yeah, I that was strange....I wonder what happened in the few days after the initial announcement...

They show a headline: "Gay Games brought $52 Million to Cleveland". Why that instead of something along the lines of a successful or most-attended games? Are they marketing to the world or to the convention industry inside the city? Seems like the very wrong message to send.
  17. ^ More like 15 households per day, no?
  18. For this summer, NAS has not returned despite UA saying so last year. Also not surprisingly, UA will not fly a 3rd daily to LAX as it has in past years, though Spirit will begin flying 1x daily in April, so at least the capacity is there.

  20. ^That's great. Where is the "Cleveland Engine Plant"---is that Brook Park?
  21. the fire boat house isn't closed is it?
  22. Since we lack such a new rock/alternative station and having one would be good for these venues (and good for the city), perhaps the owners of these three venues should team together to start such a station.
  23. ^Trinity also has free concerts at lunchtime--I think its every wednesday.
  24. That's a cool hat, but 50 bucks?

^Hey, never say never! The city is on its way back up. I was partially joking about the BKL runway expansion, though I do strongly believe that its current potential is far from being met. With current runway lengths, we could have plenty of 737 service to the entire eastern half of the US.
