Is there a place to do this? I found one place in the Flats but their website says only til Labor Day.
  2. There should be a 24-hr deli there on the corner---facing the corner (not internally) to support the Avenue...
  3. ^Ah, that's good to know---thanks. I picked up the timetable today at the CLE Visitor's Center on Euclid & E 4th and its dated "Effective April 21, 2013". Its an official timetable. Seems like those need to be replaced, or otherwise removed.
  4. I just picked up a HealthLine timetable. I was very disappointed. Service is every 30 minutes on Saturday afternoons/evenings between 12:10pm and 2:40am? That's a horrible level of service. Who want to wait 30 minutes for a bus---the #6 was never this bad and the BRT was supposed to be an improvement. If this is to be a vibrant corridor, service can't be limited to weekdays. A 30-minute headway is extremely poor service at best for daytime and there is no difference to RTA between 2pm on a Saturday afternoon getting folks in downtown hotels to museums at UC than 3 in the morning any day of the week.
  5. ^hmmmm.... is this a good thing? I can't image CPD would like this---someone else with a gun and badge on their turf. Also, I thought RTA cops were on patrol like regular cops (and are there to police the public--not RTA employees). Seems wasteful to have a cop performing the role of fare checking. Finally, your article ends: "The Cleveland Clinic Police Department is the third-largest police force in Northeast Ohio..." what's the 2nd--is it RTAPD? CMHAPD? Thanks.
  6. Re the RNC: "Ohio's venerable State Chairman Bob Bennett....told us he plans to push hard for his hometown of Cleveland as the next convention site. Along with a brand new 650-room hotel near its main arena, , Cleveland is in Ohio, the state of that all winning presidential candidates in the last century except one (John Kennedy in 1960) have had to carry...." http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/GOP-convention-June-Priebus/2013/08/17/id/520912
  7. Kansas City makes pitch for the 2016 Republican convention http://www.theolathenews.com/2013/08/20/2066281/kansas-city-makes-pitch-for-the.html Is CLE still pushing for the DNC in 2016?
  8. KJP--I agree to move, but I must ask one thing--please indulge me.
  9. "University Circle" is indeed the name of that neighborhood. But is there no particular point that is well known within the neighborhood that is a place "University Circle" within "University Circle". If there is, I am not aware of it.
  10. ^Who says you need a physical square? The corner of 65th and Detroit IS the square. You don't need a square like 'public square'. Think Playhouse Sq or Times Sq. Those are "squares"--they are places.
  11. ^I don't like that. Gordon Square is the CORNER of 65th and Detroit. Its silly to name an entire neighborhood the same name as a single intersection.
  12. When it comes to our K-mart hotels, we're high class out here on the West Side.
  13. DPC's Lakefront RFQ was due last week (on the 15th). Anyone have any insight/news? http://www.clevelandairport.com/Doing-Business/Bids---RFPs-%281%29/Downtown-Cleveland-Lakefront-Development-RFQ/Downtown-Cleveland-Lakefront-Development-RFQ---6-3.aspx
  14. now its down to "600-650" rooms? It used to be "650--give or take 50 either way" ... meaning the potential for 700 rooms.....
  15. Is this new Giant Eagle on Clifton going where the old Rego's (or whatever it was) used to be? I thought someone told me that space was going to be a school or something.
  16. ^But 100% accurate (except for the part of the PD being published only 3x week---its still published daily, just delivered only 4x week). I hope the PD reads it and heeds it. I just noticed this past sunday that Section B is no longer Metro-----its Sports. AND, "Metro" is no longer Metro, but "North Coast". The PD has really, really fallen hard. Is there a new boss from a tiny small town or something? Moving "Sports" in front of everything else isn't based on 'tough financial times--rather its a (bad) editorial decision and really makes us looks like a very unsophisticated city.
  17. That's great that there is scheduled service at LUK, but Morristown, NJ is hardly NYC!
  18. ^There's a cool museum store in there that combines the gift shop of CMA, the Rock Hall, Museum of Natural History and a few other institutions. A joint store is a great idea---and its a great place to pick up cool Cleveland institution gifts without leaving Downtown.
  19. Anyone planning to attend this afternoon? Meet representatives from Cooper Carry, Architects for the new Convention Center Hotel. Thursday, August 8, 2013 1:30 PM - 3:00PM Cleveland Public Library Louis Stokes Wing, Room 218 325 Superior Ave E
  20. is there any commercial service at LUK?
  21. ^Bypassing Cleveland should be illegal! With the route expansion of megabus, they are moving from the very convenient and rail-served location on W 3 and Superior to somewhere around 22nd and Prospect to make use of the RTA shelters at the anti-urban bus center facility there.
  22. ^Agree. its either cluelessness or intentional. If they REALLY wanted broad input, they'd hold two sessions--one during the day and one in the evening.
  23. No offense to Mr. Burnham, but why is this such a great thing? I agree with those above who want modern and some color!
  24. Megabus starting CLE-Columbus-Cincy service 2x daily. Given that Greyhound already serves this market, this is growing evidence of market demand for non-aviation service between the 3C's. What may not be clear is that they are different services, though. One may take the train, but never the bus, so if the Megabus routes do well, the rail line would definitely do well (priced accordingly). http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2013/08/megabus_adds_routes_from_cleve.html Interesting: Megabus is also offering new service between Cleveland and Atlanta. But this trip isn't for those in a hurry, taking 151/2 hours, with stops in Lexington, Ky.; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Chattanooga, Tenn....Other new cities served by Megabus: Erie, Pa.; and Buffalo, N.Y...The additions transform Cleveland into one of the company's 10 hubs, with 15 cities now accessible..."
  25. Update on the new FAA tower: "Construction of the 324-foot tall tower started in 2011 and current projections call for it to be completed in 2015." It was originally scheduled to be complete in 2014, though that is not mentioned in the article. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/07/new_air_traffic_control_tower.html
