^Is the government back to including Akron as part of the CLE metro area like it should be? Because of politics or whatever, Metro Cleveland dropped from 3 million to 2 million because part of the Cleveland CMSA was removed, even though commuting patterns remained. In 2010 and going forward is Akron now being returned? (I hope so.)
  2. Doesn't make sense. A garage can be built for numerous levels, unlike surface parking. CLE will have LESS PARKING as a result. Good way to tell CO you want to downsize...

when are the Ohio results expected?
  4. ^It doesn't matter where I live. If I lived in Detroit or LA, i'd still prefer "Cleveland Aquarium" to "Greater Cleveland Aquarium". The attraction is in Cleveland and if it has any geographic name (like Cleveland Museum of Art vs. a non-geographic name like The Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Smithsonian Institution), it should be Cleveland-something (not ohio, not greater cleveland, not north coast, etc.). "Greater Cleveland" suburbanizes--and thus--mediocritizes--the name and image.
  5. How about Greater Greater Aquarium?
  6. Do you guys like the name? I don't like the "Greater" in it. Makes it sound like its at Rockside and 77 or something. If "Cleveland Aquarium" is already taken (which i'm sure it is off the table--EC would know), how about: Aquarium of America Cleveland City Aquarium Cuyahoga River Aquarium Cleveland Cuyahoga River Aquarium New Cleveland Aquarium Aquarium of Cleveland
  7. Nashville's getting worried: from Nashville Business Journal: "More than a year after the Nashville Convention Center was heralded as the site for a new medical trade center, construction has yet to begin and developers have announced three tenants for the 1.5 million-square-foot project. With a prime piece of Broadway real estate on the line — and with construction under way on a competing, publicly financed project in Cleveland — many believe the city needs a Plan B...." http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/print-edition/2011/01/28/does-medical-mart-have-a-plan-b.html
  8. Amy--do you guys have cameras? Sounds like an isolated incident, but cameras are sometimes good deterrents for crime.

Hts121--thanks very much--I never knew of this option. Any such arrangements with any West Side districts?
  10. If you live in the City of Cleveland, are there any provisions in any suburban school districts whereby you can you send your kids to a public school in that suburban/neighboring district if you pay tuition or a fee of some kind?
  11. To get to Cleveland, just take the Shortline Railroad or the National Railroad. And if you can't afford a ticket just jump on a Conrail or a Mainline train. I just started reading the report...these Houston consultants should be checking their facts, or a least the names of major entities.... Below is from Page 17.
  12. Could someone clarify this case for me--and I read the Scene article cited above as well. The owner wanted to sell it someone who was going to open a hostel. O'Leary from the Buildings Dept. fought it (cause he lived two doors down) and now it MUST be hostel, and the owner is now challenging that? And now the neighborhood is fighting it as well (so it can't be a hostel)? Also what was the Board of Zoning Appeals decision? Thanks.
  13. Its what I was told by someone knowledgeable within AG. Needless to say, i was outraged.
  14. NOT TRUE. AG did want a location in Downtown and they're offered only horrible locations by the Dept of Economic Development, and no deals. For every decent location with open/buildable land that AG inquired about, they were told that the land MAY already be used for something else. As a result, Downtown lost 2,000 white collar, mostly well-paying, jobs, including 500 creative employees, from a company ready and willing to make the move. The city made NO EFFORT to have them.

  16. In Ohio City, there's a good Hungarian bakery on 28th and Lorain, north side of the street, called Farkas, I believe. Don't know if they have donuts or not.
  17. ^ You could have gotten that today--CO's Shanghai and HK flights to EWR were diverted to CLE due to the blizzard in NYC!
  18. All--thanks for the Christmas Day restaurant tips!
  19. Thanks--found it using the parcel ID number. Looks like over $1MM in delinquent property taxes! And yes, it looks like Jacobs is still the owner. They have a different name on the county auditor's web site, but it has the same address of Jacobs in Westlake.
  20. Does anyone know who is the current owner of the vacant land next to the northwest quandrant of Public Square that used to house 1 and 33 Public Square, where the Ameritrust Tower was planned to be? Is it owned by Jacobs? A few years ago there were plans by Hines to develop a 20 story building there, but that plan seems to have faded with the economy... Also, does anyone know the current value of the land? When I do a property search of 1 Public Square or 33 Public Square on the County Auditors website for Real Property, nothing comes up...
  21. Any recommendations for a place that would be good for lunch on Christmas--not too expensive/fancy, but good good (and open on Christmas)? Any cuisine...maybe something in Asiatown? Thanks.
  22. The Obama admin gave the money to the STATE OF OHIO----not Mr. Kasich. So if any Dayton type plan would work its gotta be finalized under Strickland, before Kasich officially represents the state of ohio. that is, unless, Strickland, just gives up, which is how it sounds in this reuters article: "...Ted Strickland, Ohio's outgoing governor, said he was disappointed and said the state could regret the decision. "Today is one of the saddest days during my four years as governor because I see jobs leaving Ohio, I see resources leaving Ohio, I see vital infrastructure leaving Ohio," Strickland, a Democrat, said in a statement..." He's not saying, 'i'm gonna fight this or there is still a way'....he's just saying 'well, its over'....
  23. KJP--ok...I hope so.
  24. KJP--not the end as in "the end"---i did mean of THIS time around. is the $400m definitely gone, that is, is it done deal that Ohio has lost it or is it what the gov't PLANS to do if strickland doesn't act fast?
