Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
@cle_guy90^Thanks. Will update the table in a bit and will split out condos and townhomes. So maybe 780 condos and 100 townhomes?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
I don't miss the open plaza--a park with grass and a small playground is useful--but not a giant open plaza like that in area that is not otherwise packed with bldgs anyway. I'll take the galleria bldg over the plaza. Or tear down the galleria and build a new skyscraper, but no plaza!

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
^Based on that, some quick math: Anyone know the number of condos and non-market-rate units? There aren't many condo bldgs--the Pinnacle, @YABO713's if that's counted as Downtown-not sure as its across the river, there's a bldg on prospect west of E. 9..... for non-market rate, the Bohn Tower and some other bldgs on E. 13 (former Allerton Hotel).... I'll update the table above if anyone has better estimates or actual data.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I don't know if they're moving any from the burbs to Downtown (they have people in both), but they are moving from BP to E. 9 St. with plans to add more staff Downtown:

^If he's not already in the management ranks where he wouldn't be paying union dues anyway he's clearly trying to kiss their @sses to get a promotion to be a big amazon douchebag. Nice no-last-name to stand by his tweet or identity.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
This certainly doesn't help the state's numbers, though with the 2020 Census taken so late in the year (even though its based on April 1), who knows how this impact will be reflected. "With the last of the death reports from 2020 still trickling in, the Ohio Department of Health is now reporting that at least 143,558 Ohioans died last year from all causes amid coronavirus - an increase of nearly 20,000 from the year before. The increase amounts to 16%." https://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/2021/03/ohio-deaths-in-2020-increased-by-nearly-20000-latest-data-shows.html

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
AML RightSource moving from the BP Bldg to a larger space on E. 9. to accommodate an expansion to "create more than 270 full-time positions" and just completed two acquisitions. AML RightSource preps expansion, downtown office move "A busy month of March for AML RightSource LLC is coming to a close with approval from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for a tax credit aimed at assisting an expansion to create more than 270 full-time positions and about $18.7 million in new annual payroll — and a move to new space in downtown Cleveland. The tax credit authority on Monday, March 29, approved a nine-year, 1.949% credit for AML RightSource, a Cleveland company that provides outsourced anti-money-laundering services and consulting. According to information provided by the tax credit authority, AML RightSource "expects to create 273 full-time equivalent employees generating $18,684,605 in new annual payroll and to retain $30,501,134 in existing payroll" by the end of 2024 as a result of planned expansion in the city of Cleveland and in Highland Hills....." Also interesting--2 global acquisitions this month: "AML RightSource..has made two acquisitions in March. On March 23, AML RightSource announced it had bought Passcon GmbH of Hamburg, Germany....The company on March 4 said it had acquired Arachnys Information Services Limited of London in a deal that marked the Cleveland-based firm's first expansion outside North America." https://www.crainscleveland.com/finance/aml-rightsource-preps-expansion-downtown-office-move

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
More on the shootings at the unlabeled night club--a "motorcycle club" acc to this story: "CLEVELAND (AP) – Authorities say a shootout at a private motorcycle club in Cleveland that left seven people wounded was apparently sparked by a dispute involving a man and a woman. The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday inside the Spot Night Club. Authorities say the man involved in the argument apparently fired a single gunshot during the dispute, and several people inside the club then pulled out guns and started firing...." Nice to see everybody packing heat.... https://www.wkbn.com/news/ohio/7-hurt-when-fight-sparked-shootout-at-cleveland-motorcycle-club/

ODOT Policy Discussion
April 7-9 Virtual ODOT Conference: Ohio Civil Rights Transportation Symposium "Inclusion through Innovation" Ohio's Civil Rights Transportation Symposium explores the value that diversity and inclusion brings to both the industry and the state. During this event, thought leaders from business, government, and academia will hold discussions on issues related to contracting, business development, regulatory compliance, and the future of transportation. This year’s Symposium is proud to follow Governor DeWine’s lead and broaden its approach by including other demographic groups that face obstacles with job attainment, business formation, and mobility services - including those with disabilities, seniors, and the chronically unemployed or under-employed. Cost: $25. https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odot/about-us/conferences/civil-rights-transportation-symposium#page=1

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
^A fully unmarked club, no signage outside.... Lucky that, of 7 that ended up at a hospital, zero died (unless they died in the club and were taken out back and dumped somewhere). In any event, this location is Old Brooklyn--and while suburban in feel--should be the CLE crime thread vs the suburban one.

Accents
Interesting. I always pronounced it WOHL-steen (like the "o" in Coca-Cola). What accent would that be?

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Just curious--is any entity trying to lure them to Downtown? Even if just telling them they'd be able to attract the latest, hottest talent? The City of Cleveland is too lethargic to go after any company or will cite the 'anti-poaching' agreement, while the suburbs actively try to steal jobs from the city. TeamNEO/Cuyahoga County would never do it as both No Olmsted and Downtown are in the same region. Downtown Cleveland Alliance could do this type of activity, but do they?

Some kind of bacon sandwich and donut shop, I heard. (I'm kidding. CPD HQ is across the street.)

^Nonetheless, it was interesting to read @gruver's post as it provided an insight into the CLE law firm scene about which I had little knowledge. However, it looks like he has since deleted his comment.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Re Cleveland, yes, I've heard of lots of people from here going to to Hilton Head over the years. Never heard of anyone going to "Lake Cumberland" or "Dale Hollow" and in fact, never even heard of these places--I had to google them. I find this interesting. So the common 'vacation places' of people from different Ohio cities are as follows, and they are all very different: Ohio City - Non-Florida Destination -- Florida Destination Cleveland - Hilton Head, SC -- Ft. Myers, FL (anywhere else? Ft. Lauderdale?/Miami?-we have more flights to RSW than MIA) Columbus - Lake Cumberland, KY -- Sarasota/Bradenton/Palmetto, FL Cinci - Dale Hollow TN -- Destin, FL

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The name though, with "House" in it--Fulton House--sounds like a group living or rehab facility. "Yeah, I've been living at the Fulton House these days. They're really nice there though someone stole my watch yesterday."

^So one story less. The original, five-story building was to have 20 one-bedroom units. Will this one have 15 instead (if five per floor above street level commercial) or will it still be 20, but smaller apartments? I'm happy that they went back to the drawing board instead of killing the project altogether; glad they could make a smaller bldg still work financially.
