  1. ^Yeah, that's too bad. When I was at the Lakewood location, it was pretty packed, so whatever the reason, it wasn't due to a lack of business in the Lakehouse format.
  2. Why did Lindey's Lake House close? I just noticed their Lakewood location is also closed. I ate there once, it was pretty good---did covid do them in or something else?
  3. ^If that is true, you'd think people would be smarter these days about zoom and having a live camera/mic on them.
  4. City of Cleveland. Shaker starts on the north side of Larchmere east of E. 127 St.
  5. All the article says is the staffed talked ABOUT a student “in an inappropriate manner.” Who knows...
  6. I'm sure teachers and school staff talk about students all the time with each other. So I'm curious what this is all about. Six people put on administrative leave and a police investigation? And the article doesn't say anything other than what I just said now. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2021/03/rocky-river-police-conducting-investigation-into-report-of-high-school-staff-talking-inappropriately-about-student.html
  7. "The company will move about 100 employees into the central city sometime this fall, said Keith Hotchkiss, iHeart's North Ohio president, in a phone interview. It inked a 10-year lease for about 10,000 square feet at the 668 Euclid office-retail and apartment building. The street-level suite was previously occupied by Wyse Advertising, which Falls Communications of Cleveland acquired in 2019." https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/iheartmedia-cleveland-prepares-return-downtown 100 jobs--and this fall -- that's great.
  8. Ugh....Two people shot to death at a diner on Detroit in Edgewater late Sunday night. Two people arrested. https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2021/03/two-arrested-in-shootout-that-left-two-dead-at-cleveland-diner-gunmen-wounded-police-say.html

Cleveland falls under the Detroit District Office. But regardless, any FAA policies around BKL come out of DC not any District Office.

from cleveland.com: "When asked about the future of Burke Lakefront Airport, which takes up hundreds of prime lakefront real estate, Reed said decisions on its future should be local. “We should have a world-class, first-class lakefront,” he said. “But we cannot have a world-class, first-class lakefront if someone in Washington, D.C., or someone in Chicago from the FAA is going to dictate to us how we can do things on our lakefront.” https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2021/03/former-city-councilman-zack-reed-announces-bid-for-cleveland-mayor.html 1. BKL should be a non-issue. cleveland.com is making it one by asking about it. 2. At first I thought he was being smooth by not answering. But then in the second sentence, he does answer. So he just lost my support, not only because he's anti-Burke--or at least publicly says so--but as also thinks the FAA in is Chicago, and not Washington, assuming the PD quoted him correctly.

So we have 4 candidates thus far who have officially announced: Zack Reed, Justin Bibb, Ross DiBello, Arthur Kostendt. And who knows if Jackson will run again. If Jackson runs, he'll win. But assuming he doesn't, it looks like it will be showdown between Reed and Bibb unless others join in. Bibb may have newer ideas, but is very inexperienced and Zack Reed is a more seasoned wheeler-dealer but not without his own issues. I'm not sold on any of these guys....
  12. ^Sorry. I moved the discussion (for those interested) to the "Cleveland" Housing Market" thread.
  13. @jmicha (The above quote was taken from a different thread--but we were booted off as it was off-topic!) There is substantial demand for condo development in the city, but the above quote provides some insight into why they are not being built. I know quite a few people who would buy a condo for a high rise/maintenance free/urban living, but refuse to pay $36k-$48k/year down the toilet in rent. (They live here and are not only here for a few years, where renting makes sense.) The ownership model of condos (and houses) are also good as they provide stability to a neighborhood when the economy struggles and renters are the first to leave an area. So how do we get/enable more condo buildings built despite the quote above? Did Quattro in Little Italy (almost completely sold out) just bite the bullet and be brave, given the strong market for condos? Or did they make all buyers sign an "as is" document that absolves them from future liability? Is that even possible? It seems to work in house sales. What is different in Atlanta that its building so many condos?
  14. Please explain further if you can. Really interested in why this giant market segment is not being served.

I'm not a Zack Reed fan, but I will say, that's a nice video with some great aerial shots of the city that are not commonly seen.

53--that's a good age! And TDATYU! (Thanks for Defining the Abbreviation That You Used)
  17. Yeah, there is certainly something very cleveland about it! Are these images from your new mirrorless camera? Which model is it again? The shots are beautiful.
  18. ^and me too---exactly my point---there are two of us just here on this board---there are probably thousands of others who would to buy a place in Ohio city (or Downtown) in a bldg vs. a townhome or house.
  19. ^Yeah, I guess not. But its so crazy. I know quite a few people--myself included--that would buy a new, well made condo unit in Ohio City (or Downtown). In fact, they WANT such a place (myself included). But none of us want to pay $24k-$48k/year in rent, but would pay $18k-$30k/year in a mortgage for what would be the exact same place. There is tremendous demand for such, yet no one is building. The last condo project i know of is Quattro in Little Italy. Just curious---did those all sell out? And if so, how quickly?

^nanometer? You youngsters and your internet shorthand....I don't know what N/M means.
  21. ^Of course, it is related to Covid in that some patients in the ICU are with covid, but there are non-covid people in the ICU's as well. It was more about CLE clinic and hospitals that's why I put it here. I wasn't suggesting any change in capacity week to week, such as may be relevant to rises/falls in cases of covid.
  22. ^They don't need an equity partner, just guts to do it (putting up the guarantee themselves).
  23. Cleveland Clinic's ICU is at 87% occupancy right now, the second highest in the city, after St. John's in Westlake, which is at 90%. UH is at 85% and Fairview (#4) is at 80%.

Really? I had a five-page like scrolling document to read with a button to "Accept Terms" if I wanted to proceed. You should make sure you have sufficient web-browsing protections on your computer....
  25. ^That's disappointing. I would love to have an office in that location and if looking for space, would certainly consider it as an alternative to across the river. But if it must be housing, I'd rather see condos than rentals. I understand the developer's fear of the office market. The best scenario would be the 17-story bldg with some floors for condo apartments and the remaining floors be offices, whether for rent or office condos. That would make a unique product even more unique.
