That's pretty interesting. What are the demonyms for Columbus, Toledo, Canton and Youngstown? The others I know: Clevelander, Cincinnatian, Akronite.

Isn't LGA undergoing a massive rebuilding right now? It seems the addition of any airtrain to the city should have been built as part of the major reconstruction underway.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
I hadn't realized KA Architects have moved out of there and to the burbs. I found this article from Crain's at the time: "Craig Wasserman, KA executive vice president and one of its principals, said in an interview on Friday, Aug. 28 that the firm considered options for staying downtown but decided the move to the Rockside Road office corridor was more compelling. He said the firm’s ownership believes the location is more central for its employees and easier for travel, as its architects often travel outside Northeast Ohio. “A lot of our clients are out of town, and we visit them and their projects a lot,” Wasserman said. Out-of-town projects, he said, make up the majority of the firm’s billings. Moreover, the space KA will design for itself on the fifth floor of the six-story building will suit the firm’s current size and operations “like a glove.” " https://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150828/NEWS/150829800/ka-inc-architecture-firm-to-move-office-from-downtown-cleveland-to A few reactions: Craig Wasserman is right---if more of his clients are out of town---you can get there from Independence, but you can't from Downtown. "the firm considered options for staying downtown but decided the move to the Rockside Road office corridor was more compelling." Translation: If they think Rockside Road is more "compelling" than Downtown, then they are certainly not an architecture firm you want to design anything interesting or unique. May be a good firm for public bathrooms or fast-food box buildings. "Moreover, the space KA will design for itself on the fifth floor of the six-story building will suit the firm’s current size and operations “like a glove.”" This reinforces my sentence above. With a cool old bldg they had in the Warehouse District with incredible views (though not as compelling as Rockside Road and I-77), they were unable to design the space themselves to make it inspiring and functional, meaning they're not quite the firm they once were.....I will certainly never hire them for any project nor recommend them to anyone.

Thanks for your insight. The argument makes sense otherwise cities would be bankrupt everywhere. Is the "inherent danger" you cite the simple act of driving on a public road?

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
The "Cleveland Municipals"?? that's so horribly generic. Municipal Stadium was a fine name for the stadium. But not for a team. If you want to be generic, why not go with the Cleveland Baseballers or worse, Cleveland Teamers. "Saucy Brew Works announced Monday it supports the mission to rename the Cleveland Indians the Cleveland Municipals." https://fox8.com/news/saucy-brew-works-announces-support-for-cleveland-baseball-name-change/

^Oh man, so sorry to hear. But at least you can still type! There are a bunch of lawyers on this site (@LlamaLawyer, @YABO713, others) ....just wondering, is there any liability here for whoever owns that country road to have at least put up a sign warning of a sharp turn ahead to ensure the public safety from a government-created hazard where this is a presumption of safety (they built the road in that way)?

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
I hate the stripes. If it has to have stripes, then be bright yellow or orange or something. Or be illuminated. Then it would add visual value to the bldg. As it is, it just kills the beauty of the vertical glass.

Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
Thanks. Cleveland City Jail and Cuyahoga County Jail are jails and not prisons--so i think sentences are shorter compared to those of prisons where they could be 10, 20 years or 'life'. So its interesting the census counts them at the Cleveland justice center as it is temporary, though thats where they may be on April 1, 2010/20/30.... Any idea what number the Downtown Cleveland Alliance uses?

Cleveland: Asiatown: Development and News
^Yeah, hopefully it won't be a full generation away, but only 5 yrs away with the big post-covid boom coming! Yes, David's left a void. But I rather see that giant flat bldg taken down and replaced with 4 or 5 5-10 story bldgs---condo, apt, office, condo, office---all five with ground floor retail--shops, restaurant/bar/cafes.

@Boomerang_Brian Thanks for the diagrams and very clear explanation! The passthroughs are a great idea that do not disrupt the streetwall. Thanks for digging that up and explaining.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
Just to confirm---looking at the last shot, the buidling wall along Gehring is continuous, right? Right now I see a 4-story structure (towards the intersection with W. 25) and then a 1-story area (with elevator shaft sticking out) reaching up to Lorain--that will be one seamless bldg, right, that wraps around to the W 25 side?

Cleveland: Asiatown: Development and News
^Great article as always, thanks @KJP. Ugh---I hate the silly-named "Culture33" bldg---I was expecting some fine 15-20 story bldg and was overly disappointed to see a squat one story structure. Even the addresses on the bldg made absolutely no sense. One bldg, one address. But if there is going to be more than one address, in Cleveland, we don't mix odd and even numbers on the same side of the street. If Bowen is who created that, they should know better or put in better effort, unless they figured, why bother, just a one-story bldg.

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
These are great, thanks @Geowizical. The aerial image helps immensely to get a sense of things, cause as you said the 'skyline' is not so recognizable to many. For Downtown, we can see a bldg and know what it is, not so much with UC!

Indeed. The article states, "The local and state government funding in the bill is meant to help governments make up for lost tax revenues and cover extra expenses associated with the pandemic. Governments also are allowed use the money to fund infrastructure projects, meant to boost the economy."

How often do the bridges fail? I've never experienced any failures on the cuyahoga crossings. Of course, there's a big difference here---the Cuyahoga is federal channel and access must be 24/7---so all the bridges are staffed 24/7. this entry in the harbor at Voinovich Park is purely recreational is not part of the harbor's federal navigational system. But even so, I would hope is staffed 24/7.
