I was talking from an economic perspective, not cultural. Culturally, Medina County and Geuaga Counties are very different than Cuyahoga, yet no one disputes those as part of Metro Cleveland.

@KJP--good article, just read it. It'd be nice if there was some real data on numbers, but I guess this doesn't exist anywhere so all we have is the circumstantial evidence. Are housing vacancies lower than ever--if people moving here are taking up vacant units and any new units that come on the market? When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico---the number of Puerto Ricans that moved to CLE was pegged at 10,000. Where did that number come from?

The area around Akron is still part of the metro Cleveland. You don't have to regurgitate what the US Dept of Commerce says--doing so only hurts and minimizes Cleveland.

If there has been an influx to Cleveland from NY, Chicago, and other places because of Covid, its too bad that it wasn't a few months earlier. The 2020 Census is based on where people were living on April 1st. So if a lot of this movement was in the past 2-3 months, they will not show up in the metro Cleveland numbers (til 2030 if they're still here).

When is the groundbreaking? After City Planning approval, cleveland.com and Crain's each published different dates: Crain's: "Developer Stoneleigh Cos. hopes to break ground in September for Waterford Bluffs, a 241-unit building....The project, with a roughly $60 million price tag, could be complete in mid-2022." What's a Forrester, one who "forests"? What does that mean? The "Indians" doesn't offend me in any way though I understand the issue, so would not be up in arms if the name is changed. If the mascot were my ethnicity, I would not care, because its a baseball team is not a reflection of my peoples. But if the name must be changed, I guess I'd go with Cleveland Spiders. As a second choice I like the Buzzards----as it reminds me of the good ol days of WMMS 101 (and later 100.7 once digital dials on radios came out).

I love it. Please tell me its condos (where owners may rent their units if they want) instead of being apartments. There are THOUSANDS of people who would love to live in such a place (myself included), but aren't going to throw $25k-$50k/year in the toilet in rent. And those that do want to rent would be able to do so from owners that rent out their units.

20% sounds big. But it seems like that includes temporary relocations. Looks like the more useful number to work with is 3: "Among those surveyed in early June, 3% say they themselves moved permanently or temporarily due to the coronavirus pandemic." Would be interesting to see the racial/age/geographic (from where to where) breakdown of this 3%.

Seems like a lot of effort and organizations' time for just 25 jobs for a company that already knows Cleveland very well. And sounds like the won't move a muscle til the public sector cash is in hand ("The timing of the Cleveland office's opening depends on when state and local funding for the project is approved."). Is this what it takes to get a new jobs in Cleveland? its not even the HQ of the company, just an office. Sounds like the CEO himself, being a partner in Cleveland-based private investment firm Next Sparc and former head of BrandMuscle, may already be in Cleveland.

Its operated by the same company that did operations for the UH bikes, no? Those prices are pretty steep. $9 for an hour?!

I hated the name "Jack Casino" but think its far superior that than the stupid "Horseshoe Casino" which sounds like some kindof place you'd see in Texas. Regarding the sale to Matt Cullen---I don't know who that is. So is this a good thing or bad thing for the city? Will Phase 2 now happen or be scrapped?

Hmm. Thanks. Its not too much better, but a little bit I guess. Looking at the earlier version, I I thought there was a Starbucks on the corner, which I liked, then realized its only a green awning that says something other than "Starbucks".
