  1. I hate speedbumps as most cities that install them don't know what they're doing, as they force drivers to violate the speed limit. I haven't seen these in Lakewood yet, but can go over them at 25mph without hurting your car?
  2. ^This is great--its not just a convention of 4,000 people---but of journalists who will hopefully share the good story that is Cleveland and what it has to offer.
  3. Well that may be the case for Westwood, LA, but in Cleveland and other parts of the country it looks more like a 70s office building. If they keep the design they should at least make it neon green or something. That would make it more interesting and modern (for Cleveland).
  4. What are the conditions of the larger existing bldgs on E 90 now that will be torn down? There's plenty of space in Hough to build--hate to see old structures torn down. As for the 2nd building----I agree--it looks like a 1970s office building----very bizarre to create new residential that looks like that.
  5. The PD is so incompetent, they keep downgrading the news while thinking they're reporting something great. The LSE announcement is for the AMERICAS----that's North and South America---that's a really really really big deal. It means the LSE won't be opening up shop in Mexico City or Sao Paulo (the New York of south america), but instead do all those deals from Cleveland. But the PD keeps calling it "North America". I think they don't understand what "Americas" means or that they think "North America" is a bigger deal the full hemisphere.
  6. I have no idea, how big has Alexander Mann gotten in Cleveland?
  7. What about TRW? MBNA got acquired by Bank of America, no?

Kuh-LUM-bis -- I'm in Cleveland. How do you people in Columbus say it?
  9. of all the recent one of these promo videos, this is one of the better ones. I wish it didn't cut between scenes so rapidly as it did---i know that's intentional--the style to be fast-moving, but just wish it was a little less rapid, but overall I thought it was very good.
  10. Great to see more density rebuilding Hough after so many years. Is going in on the SE or SW corner?
  11. ^Actually, looking at the other Ohio cities--CLE is the only city with e-check, right?: Columbus +17% per capita emissions Cincy +18% Dayton +39% Toledo +25% not Ohio, but interesting: Washington, DC --6% (though total emissions up 39%)
  12. "Transportation is the largest source of planet-warming greenhouse gases in the United States today and the bulk of those emissions come from driving in our cities and suburbs" In Cleveland, per capita emissions are up 12% since 1990---I assume because of the endless sprawl.... NYC is up 9% during the same time and Chicago up 43% https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/10/10/climate/driving-emissions-map.html
  13. Being an Urban Planner in CLE vs. in other cities in terms of pay and growth: https://www.citylab.com/life/2019/10/where-urban-planning-jobs-near-me-cities-employment-data-map/599548
  14. What is the planned date of completion?
  15. ^I agree. I hate them too--good to hear I'm not alone in that view!
  16. is there any streetlife/street retail or just bunch of tall bldgs?
  17. gpodawund: I was referring to the post immediately above where I made the comment. it was on 9/26. I was referring to this point: Total Foreign-Born Population and % of Total Population Change 2010-2018 Columbus: +38,676 Akron: +5,125 Cleveland: +4,099 Cincinnati: +4,061 Dayton: +2,209 Toledo: -2,521 Youngstown: -2,719 The number for CLE is positive. Usually we see negative numbers when looking at CLE population changes. That's the point i was noting.
  18. Given that "Mexico" I assume is part of the category "Latin America", does "North America" here refer to exclusively Canadians?
  19. Great photo set, thanks. What do you think of those big suburban-style homes in the middle of Hough?

^Good find, thanks. (What's with the giant fonts NOACA is using? Its blinding.)
  21. AA dropping its 2nd daily flight to LAX, eff January.

Spend 9 minutes from Pittsburgh to the desolate CLE lakefront (in terms of destinations) then spend twice that amount of time walking to your final destination downtown. if the hyperloop is really going to happen it should have a station at public square or E9 and Euclid, not someplace remote like the proposed station near or at the current amtrak station.
  23. Another example of a successful Cleveland company, bought out by greedy outsiders who destroy the company. Home Team Marketing shut down on Sept 25 after 18 years in business. I think all the schools and non-profits that were cheated out their money should band together in a class action and sue Steve O'Neill personally. https://www.crainscleveland.com/sports-business/fallout-home-team-marketing-closing-runs-deep
  24. I'm talking relatively, not absolutely. 10 or 20 feet is now 0.3 miles---thats substantial. Are the residents of Tremont using this path? probably 99% will be non-Tremont people. So yeah, screw them and lets make the city a big suburb.
  25. So you're saying a LOT more driving is better from what were simple street connections. Its a waste of gas, adds more carbon emissions to the environment, adds more vehicular traffic (more potential for injuries for kids playing in the street), AND makes the area more suburban. as I said earlier, when suburbanites move into the city---they bring their "values" with them.
