  1. "the City still argues that "BKL is a reliever airport for CLE." " um, it IS a reliever for CLE. You really want all those little planes delaying your commercial flights when departing or arriving?
  2. ^Not sure who made that prediction and am surprised DCA created it or otherwise support it, but i think over the 13 years between 2017 and 2030 demand Downtown is Far greater than 4,000 units. what is that--about 6,000 people? Barring a major recession, I'd say Downtown demand is at least 10,000-15,000 units over the next 11 years.
  3. @marty15 - If you're referring to Burke, its code is BKL, not BKE.
  4. So what? You think that that changes the mindset of non-black people in the Carolinas? Ask people of color how life is for them if they venture 30 or so miles outside of places like Charlotte or Raleigh. And in South Carolina, they have "plantations" everywhere and they proudly call them plantations. I would never ever move to company to place like that no matter what the tax breaks.
  5. What?!? nothing about those southern cities "really make so much sense." Tell that to black employees of SW -- 'yeah, you should move to the Carolinas and see how you're treated.'
  6. Could you expand further? You saying their 'nationwide' comment isn't really just a ploy to see how much the state will give them to counter another state's offer, but they really are open to moving somewhere else? Can you give more info on your source--e.g., is he/she a sr. exec or board member? Any more info you could share would be helpful to understand such a gloomy and frightening post. Thanks.
  7. ^tx. for posting. Pretty bland website.
  8. ^If the City did, it would probably have to have been published publicly for public bid.
  9. ^This is good news. And the other day Fitch Ratings assigned an A- rating to CLE's series 2019A-C airport revenue refunding bonds. Good news on both fronts.

I guess I was not alone in feeling the true bizareness of the format that apparently others have asked for the full, unedited (removal of higgs) version--so the city reposted it. I got this email from city hall: "We've been asked to provide the full unedited interview Mayor Jackson recently provided to Cleveland.com. The interview and the Mayor's intro are below. Stay tuned!"
  11. ^yeah, it alone doesn't mean much. I could mean, as you said, the number of jobs downtown grew faster than did housing in the city. It also could mean that despite more downtown employment, those that work there continue to move to the burbs and those that are living downtown either work at home (which is not counted by his data source) or work outside of downtown, such as in Univ Circle or outside the city.
  12. ^Got it! Thanks CLE_Millennial and KJP.
  13. ^I know. But above you said, "Bingo. The Avenue condos are a test of the market. If it passes with flying colors, expect rapid movement with the [9th/Bolivar] tower." what are you referring to?
  14. Thanks KJP. on the Geis tower thread, people are saying the avenue district condos will be the test/pilot for site at the NY Spaghetti House. What condo tower are they they referring to?
  15. Where is the condo for Avenue District? I just looked at that thread and they all look like like (low-rise) townhomes.
  16. Where is the new condo tower in this project (not the existing one at 12 & st. Clair)? Looking at the image, they all look like townhouses.
  17. This is great news indeed and this part is particularly good: "Whalen also noted that all of Market Square's office and retail tenants will be new to Greater Cleveland, bringing more than 1,000 jobs and nearly $11.8 million per year in new sales and incomes taxes to the city and county." And it looks like it will start work soon as they have to commit to construction contracts before the end of Sept. If they know that all of the office and retail tenants are new to Cleveland, they must then know who they are, meaning leases for 100% of these spaces are already signed, no?
  18. Cleveland Hts is looking at a program that apparently Newburgh Hts invented: paying off some student loan debt if someone lives in the municipality. In Cle Hts's case they are looking at only specific parts of the suburb or maybe just to fill in vacant lots. This is interesting. Not sure if the program would pay for itself or not, but its worth exploring. Could the City of Cleveland do this? Maybe just for infill spots or may just in certain neighborhoods? Its worth looking into. Congrats to Newburgh Hts for thinking of this potentially innovative program. https://www.cleveland.com/community/2019/09/cleveland-heights-officials-still-looking-at-student-loan-incentive-program-to-attract-new-homeowners.html

Oh my---it really was cleveland.com? did you see the video? I know the PD has cut like 90% of its staff over the years, but even a high schooler could make a far more professional video and interview. there was no human interviewer or Robert Higgs---it was only jackson talking the whole time.

^thanks. but still waiting to see cleveland.com officially take credit for it....
  21. ^That News19 headline will do more harm than good. If they did it to prompt CLE officials to take action, instead they just got other cities attention and salivating.

I would be SHOCKED if that were true. Every video I've seen by them has their logo on it. And the lighting is so horrible. Just watch any 20 seconds of it and you'll see what I'm talking about. Someone should alert cleveland.com about that claim as well. (I don't have twitter.)

What's the point of that video---so he's not impeached? He won't be. Is it so people back off so CPD can run the investigation without an uproar? Is it to protect his legacy? Whatever the case, that shoddy video---that didn't even use a human that was posed as a media interviewer---only makes him worse. On the national level, this is embarrassing for the Cleveland--not his control, but his cover-up attempt.

^I was ready to give him the benefit of doubt when he said that until i saw the fake interview that began a minute later.

I'm watching it now. Its REALLY bizzare. He states in the intro that he was interviewed about everything and then 'here is the interview'. I was expecting a media person or something. Instead---Its him in the same background as the intro, but sitting in a chair, with bad lighting---and the questions are not even read --- (in case someone recognizes the voice?) instead they are posted in text in the video and mayor responds. Its like he wrote the questions himself. You never see the "interviewer" or anything. Its so strange---its done to make him look not complicit---but it actually was so poorly done and so strangely---it makes him look VERY guilty of interfering with things about his grandson.
