  1. How were the MSA boundaries different in 2000 vs today?
  2. This article from St. Louis says the firm Mass Economics created a plan--an economic plan I assume--for Cleveland. If true, has anyone seen it and do you have a copy? "Since December, the St. Louis Development Corporation has been working with consulting group Mass Economics to develop the citywide economic development strategy. The consultants, who have previously worked on plans for cities including Chicago and Cleveland, will be paid up to $700,000 in grant money to study the city and produce a set of recommendations." https://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/city-st-louis-seeks-public-input-economic-development-strategy#stream/0
  3. Do you have the ticket or a photo of it? That's evidence of wilfull misconduct an it should likely have the enforcement officer's name/badge number on it. Even if you call the Parking Enforcement office--if they're in on such practices nothing will happen. You need to write to the mayor's office, a media outlet and some official higher organization--not sure what that would be--at the US level that handles municipal corruption. That behavior is just crazy.
  4. He absolutely was.
  5. ^^Nice night shot of the Lumen.
  6. 1500 brutal jobs....I hear conditions and treatment of workers at these Amazon facilities are brutal.
  7. Jump on I-71 and head north for about two hours and you'll be in Cleveland. There, there are million things to do---boat cruises on the river or lake Erie, volleyball right on the shore of Lake Erie, hiking in a national park (https://www.nps.gov/cuva/index.htm), very cool neighborhoods to just walk around and explore, world-class museums like the Cleveland Museum of Art, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, grab a drink or dinner alongside the cuyahoga river and watch giant freighters from Europe sail by sharing the river with pleasure boats and yachts, numerous beaches, the list is endless. You may want to consider getting a weekend place in Cleveland if you make the trip so often.
  8. ^True, the county must be impartial. However, given the southern location, that means, as KJP said, people will move into summit and medina counties--so the county would lose population, so its in the county's interest to not support a move from Downtown to a southern suburb.
  9. "After weathering a fusillade of criticism by the Downtown/Flats Design Review Committee for its 299-suite plan for a site on Scranton Peninsula overlooking the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland's Flats, NRP Group withdrew its first cut at the project's design." https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/nrp-groups-scranton-peninsula-plan-panned-then-pulled
  10. Not construction news but Campbell's popcorn on Detroit is closing. Too bad as its a kind of shop for Downtown Lakewood. If anyone wants to open a candy/popcorn shop---its the perfect opportunity to jump into that space, you'd have instant customers. "Campbell's Sweets Factory announced today that it will close its Lakewood shop at the corner of Warren and Detroit on Aug. 3 while expanding its focus and offerings at the original location in Ohio City on West 25th St. The downtown location on Superior is unaffected." https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2019/07/17/campbells-sweets-factory-closing-up-shop-in-lakewood-come-august
  11. Some very strange language/word choices in this article. The text in red is my own highlighting. Can't tell if its just strange/bad writing, something I don't understand, or if something is truly fishy or strange. For example, what is a "concurrence" (3rd paragraph below)? "The exploration arm of the Cleveland Clinic needs to band together with an Australian biotechnology organization to build up an immunization research focus at the previous Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute of Florida office.... The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, in the interest of Vaxine, has connected for a $250,000 award from the state Department of Economic Opportunity, said Pete Tesch, leader of the monetary advancement committee. The city will arrange a concurrence with the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute for utilization of the previous VGTI office, Tesch said. No city cash has been vowed for this venture, Tesch said...." https://www.biopharmapress.com/vaxine-incorporation-collaborates-with-cleveland-clinic-for-building-of-ex-vgti/
  12. This Cleveland architect makes some good points about using local talent for the new Cleveland Foundation HQ in the Crains link below. Also, i just saw the rendering. Pretty uninspiring and its only a 2-3 story building. I'd rather the Cleveland Foundation be downtown in a high rise---it would fit their stature better than a plain, low-rise building. https://www.crainscleveland.com/opinion/personal-view-cleveland-foundation-overlooks-local-architects-new-headquarters

Just looked at limelight's webpage. Place looks cool. But they have to be smarter about their pricing. $20/day, no commitment. OR 8 days/month for $175 and you must commit for 3 months. https://limelightwork.com/membership-levels/
  15. re E55, is that an active project or just a proposal?
  16. was he the architect of the Chesterfield?

^Why you so fixed on money or revenue? Airports are facilities to enable air transportation. The metric is passengers and not cash.

If it makes you feel better, PASSENGER numbers (not take off and landings) are up 28% from 2017 to 2018. Ultimate Air alone is up 7.4% at BKL.
  19. ^why is the Mayor part of the ribbon cutting for this? Its kindof silly....

^I was just throwing out sample numbers. One study could say its economic output is $XB while another could say $YB.
  21. ^i think he was saying 24 stories. (24 hrs--military time)
  22. That's horrible. that area is so sparse. Needs a deli on the corner at least. What I hate about it is---its on Superior but short---anything built along an avenue should be much taller--at least 15-20 stories.
  23. ^ Got it, thanks! I would have hoped for taller, but as I've been dying for condos, I'll happily take it and its still a respectable height.
  24. Now you can get a haircut before your flight!
