  1. I hope they don't include those silly columns at the corner.

Cleveland City Council approved new regulations on scooters last night, after banning Bird a few months ago, allowing them to return to the city. Upon Jackson's signature the bill becomes law. Allowed only in certain neighborhoods as the city assesses the law. https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2019/06/cleveland-to-allow-electric-scooter-rentals-this-summer-targeting-key-in-parts-of-the-city-for-pilot-program.html
  3. ^Is that true, that construction costs in CLE are as high as those in NY or chicago?
  4. That's great data, thanks. What neighborhood do you live in?
  5. Midtown?!? Cleveland Clinic has the cash and power to build the fanciest 107-story (for 1 Million sq feet) building in Downtown, with a giant hotel next to it with lots of conference room space. Not many CLE organizations alone could do this. Even SW probably couldn't fill 107 floors, nor have the cash on hand to do so. If the Clinic really cared about CLE and wanted to make an impact they'd consolidate and build such a thing. But the issue is, they LOVE their money and don't seem to give a crap about the city---so operating in the farthest suburbs where it is much cheaper seems to fit their M.O. Maybe with this new president things will change; hopefully he'll be a better civic partner than Toby was.
  6. Where on the river are these ships docking and unloading passengers?
  7. ^The Cleveland office will be the company’s software development hub, while the corporate office will continue to be based in Vinings, Ga., in the metro Atlanta area. This is notable. They could have put software development in Boston or Austin or San Jose. But they chose Cleveland.
  8. Cleveland Clinic continues its expansion in Florida: "Now the city appears to be about ready to close that chapter of its efforts by picking Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute to acquire the ex-VGTI property, now called Florida Center for Bio-Sciences." https://www.tcpalm.com/story/news/local/shaping-our-future/property-values/2019/05/29/cleveland-clinic-port-st-lucie-ex-vgti-property/1269369001/

a 90% reduction is great, but 450 million gallons of CSO is still a lot!
  10. ^LA has a density of 8,534? That's pretty interesting. Feels much less dense than CLE. A useful column in that table would have been densities in 2010 or of a few years ago to show recent trends.

97% of what? How many gallons or whatever units of raw sewage from sewer overlflow goes into the lake from CLE each year?
  12. ^Places that begin with the letter "M" in Rocky River? Market and Mitchell's better be careful! Why did Melissa's close? The food was good, but service was way too slow.
  13. Not surprised either. Ate there ONCE and gave it a 5 out of 10, that I'd never go back - was very underwhelming. CLE needs good diners though on the west side, so I was disappointed that this place wasn't so good....
  14. isn't akron MSA 2 counties---summit and portage? what's the third?
  15. ^The Utility Knife Building, 33 Public Square.
  16. Wow. Not sure if I like any of those, though the 2nd one would be good for the Cleveland Twist Drill company if they were still around by that name. I guess the third one is kind of interesting. That said, I'm all for something along these lines--we need some new interesting buidling designs and/or color in our skyline.
  17. KJP--great job! The Plain Dealer is covering SW based on your scoop and journalistic sleuthing!
  18. ^Same old nonsense about how Cleveland is defined. "NYC" includes New Haven CT and Princeton, NJ. Yet, Cleveland excludes "Akron" and "Kent" which are closer and are counted separately, not adding to Cleveland's total.
  19. ^The Marriott on Public Square (at Key)? Or the Residence Inn that houses the Colonial and Euclid Arcades?
  20. You saying its going to replace that little building with the green roof? What is that little building? Actually---looking at the drawings, looks like they are going to use that existing building. Looks tiny though--too small to process a Great Lakes Cruise ship.
  21. ^what would you recommend instead---a council based wholly/partially on at-large seats?
  22. i went there 2x and both times there was a wait for tables. this was on weekends. maybe it was slow during the week, but breakfast on weekends it was packed.
  23. Is this the one by the Get Go on Detroit? Didn't that just open like a year ago? Why did it close so fast and wasn't it new construction?

Those metal framed beds. And peeling paint. Great, creepy photos!
  25. Why? Because police and airport/airline staff are being bitten by passengers about 8 or 9 times a day now. KJP---it was a joke, man!
