  1. For all you Southwest fans: Southwest added CLE-DAL (Dallas Love Field) to their timetable this morning, but its Sunday-only. Not sure of the point of that---as even on Sundays AA is 5x (in Oct. but to DFW) and Spirit is 1x. Service begins Oct 6th.
  2. $3.5B we offered? I thought it was free RTA passes as was released before....

$70M? That's nothing. (yes, I know its more than 33.) How much of that would go to each of the 3C's not to mention all the other systems? How does ODOT decide how much each transit authority gets?
  4. Cool topic for a museum, though it is a strange mix to have that with a comfortable place to stay during organ transplants.
  5. What kind of museum will be there?
  6. So apparently the signs were just for a scouting visit from EI. Still not clear who paid for them or what the purpose was. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2019/03/aer-lingus-scouts-cleveland-for-possible-new-transatlantic-service-to-ireland.html
  7. Interesting. I just found this: https://www.jobsohio.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/jo_monthly_metrics_2018.pdf You can see every deal--buy county, by jobs created, and by the incentive given. Its done by month, not by county, unfortunately. So it will take some time to go through---will be interesting to see how much was in Cle, Cincy, and columbus---and if the incentives are skewed. That said, even if no bias towards Columbus is shown, it doesn't mean it isn't there--the pdf just shows deals that closed. For all we know they could be selling columbus a lot more vigorously than they are CLE or Cincy. Check out the link--its got good info.
  8. ^Does bad cApitilization come with the free admission? I just went to MOCA's website--and I see its their new thing. Looks silly and as if they are trying to hard to be edgy or whatever. Now the "of" is of equal importance as "art" or "museum", but "Contemporary" is more important. I get it---just looks really amateur.
  9. ^are you just speculating or do you know that as a fact?
  10. The Aer Lingus mystery continues. Apparently some of the billboards were all taken down--one day after they were put up. Also revealed today was that there are delays in Aer Lingus' newest aircraft order. (https://www.independent.ie/life/travel/travel-news/delayed-delivery-of-aer-lingus-aircraft-to-impact-thousands-of-passengers-37876736.html) So---were the billboards real (but not commissioned by IE, but someone else like Destination Cleveland?) and taken down after the delayed delivery became news? Or a hoax performed by someone with a cash to burn? Something else? Airports Director Kennedy said it wasn't the city who paid for the billboards.
  11. that's interesting as UA hasn't added any service. Is it for upcoming retirements or do you see (or hear) more service begin added? Would be a nice shift from UA's recent attitude towards CLE. For example, UA just cut Boston and within days of that announcement, DL swooped it up.
  12. PD picked ran a story on the mystery: https://www.cleveland.com/news/2019/03/is-aer-lingus-coming-to-cleveland-hopkins-billboards-near-airport-raise-the-possibility.html
  13. I should also add that Dublin (and also Shannon) has pre-clearance, meaning anyone leaving there and heading to Cleveland would have not to go through Hopkins' ridiculous FIS process where you have to clear immigration and then go through a lengthy TSA line (with no pre-check) just to be able to arrive in Cleveland.
  14. I didn't see them myself but they are reported to be on 237 around Hopkins Airport, both northbound and southbound and one on I-71 northbound just south of Downtown. My only hope is that the service is daily. Otherwise CLE will have an even tougher time landing a carrier for Cleveland-Europe that can be used by business. For business it must be daily and year-round, otherwise people will stick with AA/UA/DL/AC and connect on the east coast or YYZ before crossing the pond. But if there is Icelandair and IE offering a few days a week each, then it makes it very hard for a daily to come in. Icelandair said they will be 4x/week. (Last year it was 5x.)
  15. Does this mean the Harrington Institute will be on the ground floor on Euclid, so the corner alley as a retail spot is no longer? Or that Harrington will just use part of that space and the street-front retail is maintained?
  16. I just saw this book today at Barnes & Noble---really cool, makes the city look really good!
  17. ^It could terminate at the 98 St. Rapid Station.
  18. There are suddenly at least three billboards around town about Aer Lingus that says, "Aer Lingus Fáilte Cleveland", which translates to "Aer Lingus Welcomes Cleveland" meaning Aer Lingus may be adding Cleveland to their list of destinations. A CLE-Dublin announcement may be coming in the next week or so.
  19. New Lake County service into Downtown by Laketran. Not RTA, but I put it here as its Cleveland-transit related. "After years of planning, Laketran has officially launched transit service along Lake County’s largest manufacturing corridor, adding to the connectivity its Park-n-Ride service provides between Lake County and downtown Cleveland.......According to a news release, Tyler Boulevard in Mentor is the major arterial connecting 10 industrial boulevards lined with over 300 employers and 7,500 jobs, making it the seventh largest concentration of manufacturing companies in the state." Interesting: "More recently, the regional transit system has seen Cleveland residents and those as far as Middleburg Heights, using the Park-n-Ride service to commute eastbound into Lake County." https://www.news-herald.com/news/laketran/laketran-launches-new-service-between-cleveland-lake-county/article_5544fb0c-2e31-11e9-ad23-9ffd13a8512c.html
  20. Allegiant adding CLE-Nashville May 16th. 2x weekly. Would be nice to see a new city from CLE, but this is better than nothing and adds some level of competition on the route as its only served by Southwest. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/02/allegiant-announces-new-flights-between-cleveland-hopkins-and-nashville.html
  21. Queen & Slim. Begin shot in Cleveland. Perhaps this is old news, but i just learned about it from this article about the weather: https://fox8.com/2019/01/30/the-deep-freeze-doesnt-stop-overnight-filming-of-movie-in-cleveland/
  22. Lovesac? I assume that that's not safe to google at work. especially an image search....
  23. That argument doesn't fully make sense. If your typical office worker needed say 200 square feet of space, but now with "technology" and some people tele-commuting, he/she needs only, say 50, then you need only 25% of the space for THOSE workers. So an existing 20 story buidling need only be 5 stories. But if you want MORE workers there and you want to grow your city, you need a building taller than 5 stories. Hence if the Jacobs Tower at 100 stories could serve, say 10,000 workers, but now would serve only 2500, rather than make it 25 stories, keep it at 100, and bring in 40,000 workers. That is what will grow the city and make the city more vibrant.
