  1. I always try to support local companies. Key is the only major Cleveland bank left after National City was GIVEN to PNC. PNC is Pittsburgh, Chase is NY and is absolutely one of the worst banks around, 5/3 is Cincinnati, Huntington is Columbus. If you like smaller banks, First Federal of Lakewood may be okay. They're local, but small. I have Key and I like them.
  2. ^Cool, thanks.
  3. ^Also--probably the biggest factor, RTA terminated a lot of bus lines that ran from the burbs into downtown at rapid stations, forcing the transfer, which increased rapid ridership and let the bus be used for other things or to save operating costs.
  4. ^That's great! Could I ask the source?
  5. ^that's cool. how do other months (april, may, etc) look. one time fluke or a new trend?

CPP rates were supposed to be cheaper than CEI's for residents and businesses in the city---that's why Kucinich fought to keep it. Anyone know the current residential and commercial rates lower per kWh for both CPP and CEI?

Hts121--I'm interested to know what CLE tried, but that link didn't work for me. Is the URL correct? (or is it a problem on my end?)
  8. ^That's great that its one the west side---not all the fancy stuff always going east.
  9. Will this be the only Bentley store in Cleveland?
  10. Tragic news for Hopkins and the Cleveland region: British Airways announced service to PIT 3x weekly. CLE is a bigger market and PIT already has Condor and Delta to Europe (and Wow). This is a MAJOR FAILURE for Cleveland as now, especially with cleveland people driving to Pittsburg for flights to London, will pump up PIT's demand and make it nearly impossible for AA or BA to start Cleveland-London service. DL is already a lost cause for CLE since its already at PIT. and United has already made its position on Cleveland known. BA/AA was our last hope. Now its gone. The guy in charge of bringing air service to CLE--Todd Payne--has been there 12 years and has failed miserably. The hub loss by UA was under him as well as he failed to save certain routes as the hub closed. The new airport director should get rid of him. He's hurting CLE far more than helping. Bringing Allegiant and Spirit, etc. drives down the profitability of serving CLE so the good airlines overlook the city. THIS failure could be damaging for decades for Cleveland, if we ever ever get out of it while Pittsburgh blossoms and CLE people help it do so by driving to it and supporting their non-stop flights. https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2018/07/25/british-airways-pittsburgh-get-london-heathrow-flights/833904002/
  11. Re RTA, what do people think? Was Calabrese fired rightfully?
  12. I just heard the Night Market in Chinatown is/was cancelled for all of 2018, but is supposed to be back for 2019. That was a great event. Anyone know why it was cancelled this year?
  13. ^I thought you two already merged and most of the CO people out of CLE from the merged group lost out to the UA FAs from the 1980s who had seniority over almost all of the newer/younger CO people at CLE.
  14. ^we're only talking about 1 or 2 flights at most here. 1 more to SFO and zero to one more to LAX depending on the season.
  15. Ummmm, basic rule: if you're at a red light at night in East Cle and someone approaches your vehicle, you blow the light. No questions about it. Also, always stop with enough space to maneuver from the car in front of you--don't pull up so close that you can't suddenly escape if you need to.
  16. Thanks. But that web site didn't detail what any of those statuses mean. If E CLE has been in 'emergency' since 1988, its not that meaningful---as that's now "normal" if its been that way for 30 years. It seems like NOW its in an emergency. Such declarations are meaningless without some kind of policy response or action to to do something or remedy the situation.
  17. What happens to a city in the state of Ohio if just can't pay its bills, its cops, or anyone? Can the state of Ohio dissolve its charter and "give" the land to the city of Cleveland? what would happen to any existing creditors of E CLE debt?

NTSB Final Report is out on the crash from BKL from Dec 2016. "The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident to be: Controlled flight into terrain due to pilot spatial disorientation. Contributing to the accident was pilot fatigue, mode confusion related to the status of the autopilot, and negative learning transfer due to flight guidance panel and attitude indicator differences from the pilot's previous flight experience."

^I meant access and visibility from the street, not from within the bldg. I hope that space has that.

^yeah, I like it, it just wish it had ground level retail that would better connect the clinic area to Uptown. I hope the bldg that is adjacent to it in the plans will be all for-sale units.
  21. ^"Council members Dale Miller and Nan Baker urged caution in offering forgivable loans, but agreed that giving a loan to entice Covia to Independence would be a desirable move for Cuyahoga County. Ted Carter, chief economic development and business officer, said this would be the third forgivable loan awarded under the county's "large-scale special attraction" program. A 2017 loan brought software company 7signal to Independence, and a 2016 loan brought the contract sterilization firm Sterigenics to Broadview Heights." So 3 out of 3 forgivable loans for the suburbs.....

From the article: "It's not just a building," said Mayor Frank Jackson. "What does the building mean? What statement does it make? "The statement it makes to me is that it creates the expectation that things can happen in any neighborhood in the City of Cleveland," Jackson said. What's he talking about? Does he think University Circle is like Glenville or Kinsman, that its an equally challenged neighborhood for investment?
  23. are you sure Cleveland pays taxes on them? its a governmental entity.
  24. "National General" Now that's a solid generic, non-descript name of a company!
  25. Of the above new bldgs/parking, what happens first and when?
