  1. I hate that E6 is now two-ways on that block. Not sure why the city did that.
  2. ^nice to see the global/national interest in this project.
  3. Ultimate is actually based at CAK, but they don't fly to/from there with scheduled service. But, to the main point, yes, service to NY, Chicago, and other places from Burke would do wonders for the city.
  4. ^No. Cuyahoga County is a MUCH smaller facility than BKL. CGF is not a substitute or replacement for BKL in any way. Business jets fly from Burke straight to Europe. 737s, A321, 757s use Burke. None of that can be handled at the county airport.
  5. Thank God he is. Would you really want a mayor like that? Killing the airport does not make him a hero. You know, people had airplanes parked at the airport when he illegally destroyed it under cover of darkness. Yeah, that's the way to operate in a US city.
  6. ^^a few points to jbdad2's post above: 1. Chicago has a secondary airport, after destroying Meigs--Midway--so its not the same. You'd have to say CHicago should tear down Midway in addition to having torn down Meigs (illegally) to have a similar argument. 2. By the way, BKL is a better airport than MDW. 3. Cuyahoga County is in no way a substitute for Burke. The closest airport in the region that has the capabilities would be CAK---which is of no use for Downtown CLE (when Hopkins is closer). 4. "The only argument I've heard for maintain Burke as an airport is an economic argument. But let's face it, that claim is no longer valid." Says who? We're seeing a turn where the run to the suburbs is ending and companies want to be in Downtowns. Granted, we need some commercial service at Burke beyond Cincinnati to make it more functional. But Burke is truly an economic asset. 5. This alone may not justify the airport, but its the base for Cleveland Clinic operations. If seconds count, getting from Hopkins over to the Clinic rather than from Burke may make a difference in someone's life.
  7. ^Going through security to exit is ridiculous. But at what airport in the US can you NOT go through security if you want to board another flight after leaving customs?
  8. ^does the loser have to pay the legal fees in addition to the damages or are the fees the burden of the person bringing the case?
  9. Newark is one of the best airports in the country in terms of destinations served, particularly on United. Certainly more options than Washington Dulles. LaGuardia is mostly domestic--doesn't really have int'l except Canada and some Caribbean. Fairly short runways at LGA.
  10. There's nothing important about Indiana----is it to suck up to Pence?
  11. ^I agree with freefourur. Toronto is in there to play the US off Canada. I doubt they really want to set up a 2nd operating HQ in a different country with different operating and accounting rules.
  12. They will also use each cities bid against the city of their real choice (which I'm sure they've made six months ago) as leverage to get a better deal for the city of their choice. I'm no fan of Amazon and never use them. I even pay more NOT to use them when I come across different prices for something hard to find. Just like Sears, they won't be on top forever....
  13. Not because Amazon cares about making an impact for people, rather such places are more willing to sell their shirts for them, building new roads, schools, etc.
  14. Looking at the list, I'd say Chicago or northern VA/Montgomery County MD or Austin. Denver is too far west. The only reason to go to the others (exc. NYC) would be cheaper land. But it would be harder to attract people to places like Columbus and Indianapolis. And Toronto is in Canada.
  15. ^I agree. "Off duty" seems to mean off CITY duty. How does CPD differentiate if an officer is working a side gig in uniform or not and when he's not being paid by anyone just walking around?
  16. ^They can. And its common to see them do so. I think people who hire them want them in uniform to show police presence.
  17. ^Re "greenway around Burke". First, sounds like a security issue, though boats can get just as close on the water. But either way this would be an uphil battle with TSA/DHS. Secondly, you certainly wouldn't want trees in the greenway. Trees attract birds and birds and jet engines don't go so well together.

^wow. Just lost whatever respect I had for Renacci. People say, amongst the GOP he's pretty decent, but I just heard him speak for the first time--about being a 'businessman' and about defending the 'shithole' comment.....I can't see what people are talking about. I'm happy he's dropped out of the governor's race. A guy like that could do far more damage as governor than as a senator....but hopefully he won't win that either.
  19. That San Diego one is very different than the demand at Lakewood. Plus Lakewood would have six spokes, so it would have to be really large to be safe. It makes no sense at Madison/Hilliard. Okay, maybe for cyclists, its not functional. but a roundabout is not the answer. striping, bumps, signaling, flashing signs, or whatever, but not tearing down buildings and parks for all the mighty car.
  20. ^I know that intersection in Lakewood and its highly functional. I would HATE to see a roundabout there, taking out the park and some buildings. The intersection works fine. If you want to make enhancements, update the paint so its clear who turns and who doesn't'; upgrade signs or signaling, but do not pour lots of pavement and take out buildings for a big, unsightly pavement circle.
  21. ^Not sure, perhaps the jobs are there, but they are not filled. The jobs number is always higher than the employment number.
  22. Wow, that's crazy. Dallas is pretty miserable place. That they would outpace NY is mindboggling.

Anyone know where this photo at the top of this article was taken? http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/01/northeast_ohio_school_closings_8.html#incart_river_home
  24. Was looking for a restaurant near 77-Rockside and found this place. Unfortunately, it looks like this place closed fairly soon after it opened. Didn't have many good reviews.... https://www.yelp.com/biz/rodizio-grill-cleveland
