  1. ^Is it just if you say you live "downtown" or do you have some kind of Downtown resident card to prove it? Or is it based on the address on your driver's license? If it is a downtown resident card, who issues it?
  2. Regarding Amazon2, some cities have offered some crazy things--Chicago's is absolutely absurd--handing the company back the income taxes of its employees..... Chicago- has offered to let Amazon pocket $1.32 billion in income taxes paid by its own workers New Jersey offered Amazon $7 billion to build in Newark Fresno wants to give Amazon special authority over how the company’s taxes are spent https://www.linkedin.com/search/results/content/?anchorTopic=75809

Annualized at one year, CLE ranked 14 out of 20, beating out NYC (5.15%) and Chicago (3.90%) and Washington (3.12%). #1 was Seattle at 12.9%, followed by #2 and #3 Las Vegas and San Diego at 9.01% and 8.17%, respectively. Interestingly, Detroit beat us at #10 at 6.94%.
  4. ^I'm okay with that--its still Cleveland!
  5. Here is some more details: http://www.ideastream.org/news/local-development-groups-assist-puerto-rican-arrivals-with-job-search Thanks. I hope that 30k number for Ohio means Cleveland.
  6. I've seen a lot about "Giving Tuesday" in the past few days. But never heard of it before. Is it new this year? or just more advertised?
  7. ^"Since late September, hundreds of families have arrived in Cleveland" How many people have relocated here from PR? Is there a good estimate out there? How many of these are permanent moves vs just temporary?
  8. Interesting. Even making the Round 2 list is positive press for CLE that may cause other companies to consider Cleveland who would otherwise just overlook it when looking at cities.
  9. Sale price on Residence Inn Cleveland Downtown: $39.6 million. Per Crain's, "Noble, which held the property through NF II Cleveland LLC, paid $15.4 million for it in February 2014." Not sure $15M represents the full compensation, but if so..... If the value went up from $15M to $40M in less than 4 years, then Cleveland must be really hot!
  10. ^9 is hardly a big number when one is looking for a place to live. There are probably 10,000 Houses for sale right now in Cuyahoga County--it doesn't mean that all 10,000 are a good fit for the buyer---in terms of price, size, amenities, etc.
  11. ^In addition to condos, we need 3-4 br units (both rental and for-sale), otherwise as people have kids, they are forced to leave their home for the burbs.
  12. "master franchise for NEO " does that mean one person/company owns all stores of a chain within a given market?
  13. from the PD article: "A local landmark designation would apply to both the submarine and the half-acre piece of public property where it has been moored for more than 50 years" this is crazy. Is should apply to the sub only. There's nothing historical to the land around it. All it does is make lakefront development more difficult. The sub is a water vessel -- it can be moved. Lakefront land cannot.

^Jackson, for sure. Under Zach, people will be very skiddish about pouring money into CLE; they'd invest elsewhere.
  15. ^which corner? SW corner was a vacant lot for decades.

^That's in very poor taste by Scene. Here's what they said about it: "This week’s cover wrap featuring Zack Reed was accepted and printed in the face of vocal opposition from the editorial staff. Management listened to our concerns and, as they’re entitled to do, opted to run it anyway." https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2017/11/01/a-quick-note-about-the-cover-wrap-on-this-weeks-issue-of-scene They should not be selling ad space of a political nature that covers their front page.

    Who are you referring to?

We're down to less than a week away from the election and there is surprisingly so little discussion on this board on the election. Do you think will win? Who do you want to win? I think Jackson is far from visionary, but he's a better bet than Zack Reed. Will he win? At the primary, he got 39%, Zack Reed got 22%. That means 39% voted for someone else, hardly an endorsement of Jackson. And if the bulk of that 39% goes to Zack, he'd win. Then again, if they support him, maybe they would have at the primary also, but they didn't. Thoughts? I haven't seen any recent polling done either.
  19. horrible. If RTA had any vision, this could be a 50 apartments AND the horizon education center as one of the tenants....
  20. ^ Supersector: Education and Health Services Industry: Education and Health Services Does this include biotech and the biotech innovation that is going on or just educational institutions (pre-school to university) and health care providers?

    Thanks for fixing the forum!
  22. ^That's not Amazon's list. Its Brookings' list.
  23. Yes, the mayor did, illegally. But that's like comparing Akron-Canton to JFK. Meigs Field was a tiny airport that served turboprops. BKL is a far more capable airport that REGULARLY handles 757s. Meigs was too inadequate to be a reliever to ORD or MDW, like BKL is for CLE.
  24. ^"The Chamber says the site is closest to meeting Amazon's requirements, including it's close proximity to Cleveland and Pittsburgh." ....except its neither Cleveland nor Pittsburgh. I though Amazon wanted to be in a city...
