Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
She should do a story on how utterly stupid and inappropriate the idea is of giving a tremendous public asset to a single private company that may not even exist in 10 years (I'm referring to the PD's push for giving Burke to Amazon)...but her paper is pushing that idea so I'll bet she couldn't do it....

Lakewood: Development and News
How many stories was the Castro proposal? Carnegie submitted two, the taller of which is 18 stories. And lakewood hasn't sealed the deal for which one will go forward yet. I hope Lakewood goes for Carnegie's taller version. From Crain's: "...Carnegie submitted two plans for the site. One is a mid-rise plan with retail, "office-university" space and about 200 residences designed as flats or townhouses. That concept incorporates a six-story building with two floors of retail and four floors of office space, and two other buildings of four or five stories. In the high-rise plan, an 18-story building would go in with 12 stories of multifamily units over six floors of office and retail space, as well as the two additional multifamily buildings. That plan could incorporate 400 suites in the high-rise. Two of four or five stories each on the southern end of the site would contain a total of 200 more multifamily apartments.... ....City officials say they favor pursuing Carnegie's mid-rise proposal. However, Khouri said he would like to pursue the taller project if additional studies show market support for it, especially with more than 2,000 apartments bound for completion in the area before the proposed "One Lakewood Place" project could break ground." http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20171001/news/137356/lakewood-selects-westlake-firm-redevelop-former-hospital-site

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
A cinema would be great---and would be used not only of Downtown and Flats residents, but also people visiting CLE. And particularly if the films shown are good, like stuff at the Angelika or Film Forum, you'd have people from the suburbs coming in as well if its the only screen in town showing a particular film. The Cleveland Cinematheque is great, but they only show previously-run films as far as I know.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
If that was an old train station, it probably has a beautiful interior. I'd love to see it with a restaurant on the ground floor and residential above it. And that will inspire other development. A cultural center will likely be open only 9-5---limited in supporting transformation.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
No. More communities need to be part of Cleveland. A "super suburb" will just have more power to fight Cleveland to take away more jobs and resources---with only the self interest of the suburb and not the city or the region.

Cleveland: One University Circle
Midtown ends at 105. The first link you gave is to an organization who apparently doesn't do anything past E 79 St., so they call it the "boundary". The second isn't relevant here at all---if it is, then the city isn't Downtown-Midtown-Univ Circle, rather its Downtown-Campus District--then Midtown---then Fairfax with incorrect borders--then Univ Circle.--those are neighborhoods; we're talking sections of the city. Downtown, for example, has many neighborhoods like Playhouse Sq, Gateway, Warehouse District, etc. But its all Downtown, generally until you hit the innerbelt.

Cleveland: One University Circle
The eastern end of Midtown is 105 St. The western border of University Circle is E. 105. Cleveland Clinic is NOT in University Circle---it is next to it. Regarding "Hough" and "Fairfax", the Clinic is in both. Euclid Ave is generally the border with the northside of Euclid going north being Hough and the area to the south being Fairfax. The Clinic likes to associate itself with "Fairfax" perhaps because "Hough" has such a loaded history, whereas "Fairfax" doesn't carry the weight that Hough does for most people.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Arcade
^There's already a sweet popcorn store in the Arcade. Or maybe its in the Euclid or Colonial Arcade. But definitely in one of the three. EDIT: Its in the Euclid Arcade, with a streetfront on Euclid. Its called "KERNELS BY CHRISSIE"... "Kernels by Chrissie is a regional producer of hand-crafted gourmet popcorn...." Its Store #39 on this map: http://www.5thstreetarcades.com/pdfs/directoryMap.pdf

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
^Absolutely disagree. If anywhere in "Northeast Ohio" it should be in Downtown Cleveland or at least Midtown. There is nothing but loss to be gained by comprising to the middle of nowhere to include Akron which vigorously fights to keep "Cleveland" a 2M city instead of a 3M city.

whatever it is its gotta be very close to Ontario as its between the Justice Center and Key, both which are offset from Ontario by only some feet. Thats why i thought it was the hilton, which otherwise doesn't appear in the picture, unless its obscured by the Terminal Tower.

Once you build a bunch of six-story bldgs its hard to turn them into 20-40 stories....so be careful what you wish for.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
What's up with the Independent? "Imagine living in a city whose unfortunate nickname is “The mistake on the lake”. That is what the people of Cleveland, Ohio must endure....A century ago, Cleveland was the fifth-largest US city, with a population racing towards one milllion; today, with fewer than 400,000 inhabitants, it doesn’t even make the top 50. And that helps to explain why Cleveland has no direct connections with Europe...From May, though, Cleveland is set to get two competing links with the same overseas city. Paris? Amsterdam? Frankfurt? No: Reykjavik. Cleveland-Reykjavik makes an instant appearance on the list of weird flights you never thought you would see... Now, if you have spent much time in Cleveland, you will understand the appeal of almost anywhere else on the planet...." http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/reykjavik-to-cleveland-cheap-flights-icelandair-wow-air-iceland-usa-routes-a7912981.html

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2017
"Brandon Chrostowski wrote an editorial piece in opposition to the tax deal Cleveland schools is considering for the NuCLEus construction project Stark Enterprises proposes to build near Quicken Loans Arena." http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/08/clevelands_mayoral_candidates_1.html Though the PD mentions this, they don't provide a link to it (but provide a link to something else.) If true, he just lost a bunch of points with me.

That is pretty good. And its not even from hough to Uptown or "between Hough and Uptown", rather "from Uptown TO Hough"!

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2017
My brother live tweeted it. With alcohol. (He works third shift). https://twitter.com/shaggysnod I watched it as well and found E Rocc's brother's booze-inspired assessment pretty spot-on. Overall, I though Frank did better than expected (and he clearly "won" if any one can win a debate). City Club gave him the final word of the day (the last person of 9 to make his 90-second closing remarks) which I thought was strategic (for Jackson's benefit) or perhaps respectful of the office. Patmon did a good dramatic performance, though not a lot of depth. Brewer was more articulate and deep than I was expecting. No foul language. Chrostowski was interesting--and said--not sure if true--that he's the only one with real plans for job, for tech, and for other things. No surprises or anything interesting from Zack or Johnson, though Johnson acted outraged about lead in homes and someone called him on it for having done nothing about it being a councilman and is only now "concerned" because of the election. Madalone seemed weak as did Smith. Kilo didn't seem very sincere or qualified either. It was a good watch--all should see it. Here's the link:
