Cleveland: Perk Park Renovation
I walked by the other day and noticed that the roofs seem to serve only one purpose, visual, they obviously cant keep you from the elements... I thought that would be a great place to sit for a while during a nice rain and just relax, but it looks like the designers had a different idea.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Zdara is now offically closed. Sign says "closed for kitchen renovation" but it will not be re-opening as Zdara. The liquor store on W10th has closed and moved to W6th in the old Jacks location. They will be open Mon-thrus till 10pm, Fri and Sat till 3am. They will be serving liquor everyday till 10pm, wine and beer till 1am (or whatever legal time is) and small snacks with an attached small kitchen that will do carry out. Ive been in the new store, while it is open for business, the owner is still putting the finishing touches on it. But from what Ive seen so far it is by FAR the nicest liquor store Ive ever been in. They kept the marble bar top from Jacks and use it as their counter top. The place is filled with dark rich wood cabinets and shelves. They are carrying a huge selection of liquor and they have all the high end stuff too! I hear there will be a big chandelier as the centerpiece to the place. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished place. When I heard the liquor store was moving on w6th I wasn't to excited, I figured it would be about the quality of a Giant Eagles Liquor store at best. But they blew that out of the water, I for one am really impressed.

From what I heard they will probably be shooting for more of a 2004-2008 Mercury Lounge crowd. Staying away from the North W6th crowd

My guess would be Mallorca? The only other restaurants are the 3 that have opened within the last 6 months or so (6th city diner, El Guera, the thai place) and Brasa (but I'm probably forgetting 1 or 2). My guess is the Mediterranean place next to Mallorca in the old Sunset Lounge space. Can't remember the name right now, but I've never seen them busy.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
I always loved metro. Never ate there so can't talk about the food but it was by far the coolest bar to hang out at on a fri or sat night in the warehouse district. Everything else on 6th was loud and annoying. Metro had good music at a decent not too loud level, it was an exciting place to go with a date or meet new girls. Im gonna miss it. As for bar Louie, I talked to some of the workers and they are going to focus more on the resturante than the bar. A nice cool lounge is something that the area is really missing. Supposly a new lounge is opening in the basement of zdara on w9th, but I dont think it will be affiliated with the bar/resturante above it. So im hoping for a win there. Downtown is really missing a true cocktail lounge.

Cleveland: How many of you would appreciate a true cocktail lounge in the WD
I am a bartender at a bar/nightclub/restaurant in the Warehouse district. We serve dinner every night of the week and have a newly opened night club on Fridays. I was thinking that downtown is really missing a true cocktail lounge in the Warehouse district. I’m talking classic cocktail made with real fruit juice, original recipes, and none of the vodka red bull cliental. We would have music playing but none of the w6th THUMPING that has overcome the WD. A mix of modern techno, classic rock, old school hip hop, basically anything you would find on a jukebox at Panini’s. I am obviously not the brains behind the music so nothing is set in stone; I'm just trying to paint a picture. We would serve a full menu until 11 and be open for cocktails until 12-1am. We have a huge beautiful bar, lounge area with couches, small tables and chairs as well as many tables for standard dining. Whould that appeal to you guy/girls? We are looking at doing this on a Saturday night.. If you have any improvements or suggestions please let me know.. Thanks

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Okay guys, stay with me here. Take Burnham's idea with public square raised and busses underneath that (which would be street level) and make a bus hub underneath PS. PS would stay street level and can be changed to look better with better public space, green space, etc.. and put the hub under it, like a subway station but for busses. One lane on each side of the raod would be for busses going into the station (under PS) and out of the station and then merge back into traffic on the regular street. Maybe even an underground walkway from Tower City rapid station to the bus hub??? I’m just thinking a little out of the box here... I understand it is impractical but it would be cool!

CLEVELAND: Valentines day RTA ride from downtown to shaker for dinner and back?
I was thinking of taking my girlfriend to Shaker Square for Valentines day but I want to take her on the train through all of the beatuiful areas of Shaker. But she rarely rides the train and I am wondering how safe the train ride back from Shaker to downtown will be. We will be riding back probably around 9ish on Monday night.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Mercury has been going downhill for a while. I used to work there from the summer of 09 to the summer of 10. When I started working there bartenders would make around 200-250 a night, when I left we were making barely 80 a night. Really sad cause even before I was there I heard that was the place to be. Personally I think it was the change of ownership and their difference in ideas is what sent it over the edge. Hopefully it will be a great place to hang out that is unique to our city.

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
I hope that one day Cleveland’s downtown extends up to the water. I obviously look far far into the future, but how nice would it be to line the water front with parks and office and condo towers! Well I think it would be nice. Hopefully the renovation of the mall will spark more development and connect downtown with the lake better (there, I made by post relevant to the topic)

Piano bar or nice calm hangout in downtown Cleveland/Ohio City/Treamont?
I have been bartending for a few years on w6th and while its good money its not where I want to hang out. Im looking for a nice, calm bar to hang out at, also I would like something somewhat upscale. I live in Strongsville and like to go to Don's Pomery House and hang out at the pub downstairs which has a nice atmosphere and sometimes a Piano player. Im looking for something like that downtown/Ohio City/ Treamont area. I have been to Johnnys on W6th but I just dont care for the bar area. Anyone know of anything else ?

You were taking pics from my old home. I loved living in Fenn Tower. Are you a student there? What floor was that taken from? How did you get pics that showed East and West?

CLEVELAND: lack of water front bar/lounges....I plan on opening one in 3+ yrs
Me and my friend are planning opening a bar/nightclub/lounge in Cleveland sometime in the next few years. We plan on going all over the country to the best bar/lounges in all of the major cities and taking ideas from all of them. While discussing location of our future place of business, the beach/shore came up. The beach/shore makes for such a great environment that most Clevelanders never get to experience. I love Pier W and shooters, and I can't figure out why more establishments haven’t followed their lead. Whenever you go to a city on the beach they always have a plethora of dining choices available with a great view of the ocean. While in Cleveland we don’t have an ocean, we have a Great Lake which provides views comparable to that of the ocean. I just can’t understand why we only have a couple of establishments available to us. Actually I can only think of those two that I named and The Sunset Grille on Whiskey Island, however that isn’t "actually" on the water like the other two. If anyone knows of any places that I did not mention pleases correct me as I would like to check out those places. Why is our waterfront dining options so limited? Also while preparing for opening a place on the beach/shore, how many of you would visit? Or at least stop in once out of curiosity?

CLEVELAND- open beach volleyball night courts with lights
Anyone know of any place that has beach volleyball courts that are open to the public with lights on for night play. I know Whiskey Island has it but in the summer they have leagues everynight. I visited my friend in Los Angeles and there were a ton of volleyball courts open to the public on the beach that had lights for night play. It was a blast. So I figured sinse we got beaches here, I should use them. BTW I am talking about Volleyball on the beach, not just sand volleyball. Thanks
