Posted February 4, 200421 yr Look at Cincinnati's - BWHAHAHAHAHA I like Lima's law the best and don't think it is dumb. I like their cockyness. February 7, 200421 yr Mike McConnell on 700 WLW was saying that it isn't illegal to for women to walk around Ohio topless. If someone wanted to walk to their mailbox topless, it would be quit legal. There are a few people I can think of that I wouldn't mind doing this.
February 12, 200421 yr Huh...I'm thinking about visiting Ohio at some point this year, and I'll be damned if I'm going to make a stop in Marion, with their anti-eating-a-donut-while-walking-backwards laws. To quote grasscat from a comment made on SSP earlier, "Fight the power..." :stupid:
February 12, 200421 yr ^ LOL. I like the one for Youngstown--"You may not run out of gas". So not only is it a REALLY bad idea to run out of gas in most parts of Y-town, but it's also technically illegal as well?
March 1, 200520 yr Trust me - that 'running out of gas' law in Y-town is one they'll never have to enforce! :yap: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
March 1, 200520 yr I bet there is a fairly interesting story behind this one: Paulding * A policeman may bite a dog to quiet him.
March 1, 200520 yr i think the corn flakes on sunday law came about along time ago, when the law said you couldn't buy nearly anything on sunday...some how corn flakes must have not been taken off the books. it doesn't refer to the kelloggs cereal, but that would be hilarious if it did
March 1, 200520 yr Time to commit some crimes on sunday... The hunting mice thing I remember getting on the news maybe 5 or so months ago. Some kid was doing it to be nice to some elderly neighbor, he got fined or ceast and decist type of thing. It made the news, its one of those laws to keep pest control people their jobs
April 16, 200817 yr Here's my nominee, from Shaker heights: What are the ordinances regarding bicycle helmets and bicycle safety? All bicycle operators and passengers over five years of age must wear properly sized ANSI or SNELL approved helmets with fastened chinstraps. Required equipment includes such things as properly colored reflectors and audible warning devices. http://shakeronline.com/dept/law/FAQ.asp The real irony is they can't require motorcyclists to wear helmets, because they can't overrule state traffic laws.
April 16, 200817 yr As absurd as some penal laws are, the enforcement of them is reliant on police officers who realize how ridiculous some of them are and enforce them at their own discretion. Thank God. Some of them don't though. Last night I was walking down the street and a police officer pulled up next to me, asking me what I was drinking. I had to hold it up to him and show him it was an energy drink. I can't have an open Howling Monkey?! Seriously though, I'm 21, I don't understand why I wouldn't have the right to walk down the street with an open beer.
April 16, 200817 yr Because its not you they worry about walking down the street with an open beer :) Imagine the crowds in washington park if open containers were allowed... no thanks.
April 16, 200817 yr People are drunk in public all the time. Someone could easily get drunk in a bar or at their home, then go outside in a drunken state. I'd rather see people get fined or sent to jail for being loud and obnoxious in public as a result, rather than because they're carrying a beer. Uptown is full of drunk and high people roaming around the streets. I smell malt liquor on people in OTR all the time; they just don't have a beer in their hand. I'm sure many people I've seen in Washington Park were already drunk. If not, they're often being loud and obnoxious anyway which is just as bad. (No offense to people who love Wash. Park, just stating a point).

I really have no problem with open container laws, its an easy proxy to catch some of the worst offenders.

There are a few people I can think of that I wouldn't mind doing this. I've always heard that a woman can go topless at Edgewater Park beach in Cleveland. It's legal at any state park in Ohio. This was determined by a judge a few years back when a woman got arrested. I think some municipalities have ordinances against it, but they can't enforce their laws in a state park. Allegedly, my dad's ex-girlfriend once squirted an obnoxious Put In Bay cop with wine, and once she was in the park he couldn't do anything. So I guess it's legal for a woman to give a topless guy a lap dance on a state park ebach, but not in a strip club....

April 16, 200817 yr Yup, this is true too. Sometimes I don't know how New Orleans does it... They must have massive cleaning crew teams... (Not that its Paris clean, but yeah)
April 17, 200817 yr Besides dumb laws in general, Ohio Revised Code is packed with comical definitions and regulations; ie. O.R.C 3767.34 Rest room facilities free of charge. ... © As used in divisions (A) and (B) of this section, “rest room facility” means any room or area containing one or more toilets, washbowls, or urinals; “multiple occupancy” means a rest room facility containing more than one toilet and one washbowl, or containing more than one toilet, one urinal, and one washbowl used for the purpose of eliminating human biological waste materials and commonly referred to as “lavatory,” “toilet,” “urinal,” or “water closet.”
April 17, 200817 yr I remember strippers hanging out topless in front of the Statehouse when a new stripper law was up for debate back in the '90s.
