parker, I am late to this discussion, but me and the old man looked at quite a few PR houses before we found ours. There is another house available on Ashwood...went by there the other day. That little cul de sac is nice.

I like PRidge because I hate driving everywhere for everything, and I can walk to most of the things I need (except a supermarket...that would make everything perfect). I like that there are families who have lived here a long time. I think the shortest amount of time anyone on our block has lived here (besides us of course) is 10 years.

The hills aren't that bad here!!! I can ride my bike around a lot of areas. I most certainly wouldn't ride it from the bottom of Ridge road up to Montgomery, but I used to live in Mt. Lookout, and that was a pain in the *** to ride around some of those streets. My friend lived closer to Columbia Parkway on Delta, and riding uphill from there to Observatory was terrible.

There are also 2 houses on our street for sale :D I have been looking on and off since we are keeping track of house sales/values. There have been several that have popped up in the last few days. We got discouraged a bit when looking in this area...but we were patient and got the one we wanted.

Thanks, Detroit!  We are currently in contract for a house in Mt. Lookout.  We're very excited about it, and the house has everything we want, except a yard :)

I did a tour of the other Ashwood house, IMO i was not impressed.  In the end, we felt that all the houses we liked in P.Ridge were asking around the same price as the house we could afford in Mt. Lookout, but we decided the better value was in Mt. Lookout, with the square, parks, and school.  Not to mention the actual house was the first house we've seen in the city that has all the amenities we wanted (2 car garage, finished basement!).

House hunting was definitely an adventure, though, and I was pulling for P.Ridge IF we could have found a house that was a good value.

Congratulations and good luck with your house. Yes, we really wanted a yard badly and at the time...all the places in MTL and Oakley that were selling did not have yards (front or back...yikes). Awesome that you found the finished basement and the 2 car garage....that's rare depending on where you look. I love Ault Park...that is one thing I miss about living in that area. I would go there daily sometimes in the summer because I could walk there. I still go there on occasion, but I have the park here...although not as big as Ault Park :)
