Hello--was looking for a good obstetrician in Cleveland on either side of town. Anyone have any good stories/experiences/recommendations? Thanks. :-)

My OB was great but he is high-risk so probably n/a.  For years, I saw a WONDERFUL OB/GYN on the E side but when I got PG it became too far for me to drive to for all the appointments you have when PG.  She is in S. Euclid and her name is Karen Jaffe, she's at the S. Euclid UH suburban health center.  Highly recommend her.

^Dr. Jaffe was my wife's OB as well.  I second the recommendation.  She is in the UH system so the delivery would be at MacDonald Women's Hospital in UC - which is part of Rainbow Babies and we all know how highly rated it is.  As people come to find out, when choosing an OB, you have to look at the entire practice they are part of.  Dr. Jaffe was great, but she did not end up doing the delivery.  Someone in her practice did though.

She may have an office at the main campus for checkups (not sure) but her regular office is in the Green Road Medical Center in S. Euclid.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't see patients anywhere but Green Road unless they are in the hospital.  Some years back, she also had office hours at MK Ferguson plaza in Tower City, which was GREAT, but she quit doing that a long time ago.  If she hadn't, I'd still be going to her.  I'm glad someone else recommends her!

MacDonald Women's Hospital and Fairview are the only two hospitals in the area that meet the criteria for very high risk pregnancies in case that ends up being a factor.  Having been a patient in both (my fertility procedures were done at UH which involved stays at MacDonald, and I delivered at Fairview), I think Fairview is a nicer hospital aesthetically (newer, prettier, more amenities), but from a qualifications standpoint they're both excellent.  I will say security seems to be approached more casually at MacDonald.  I'm sure the nursery must lock-down as most of them do now, but the L&D floor, you can just walk right in. I was surprised they just handed over my file for me to take from floor to floor without even asking for any identification or checking me in in any way.  But that's really putting the cart before the horse.

If she's cute, I'll provide whatever OB services I can. banana.gif

^^Why aren't there more women on UO?

ya know?  And BTW smarty, OB services are for pregnant women, not quite as "exciting" as GYN services.

Yes, but that's assuming it matters to me.

Seriously - take your pick, juvenile locker room humor, or women feeling comfortable participating here.

Probably has more to do with the subject matter, and that some here debate it with the fervor of life and death.

Thanks all for your input.  Rockandroller--if you don't mind, just in case, what was the name of the great high-risk OB you had?

I'll throw in my 2c here - We used Robert Kiwi, he's in Beachwood, for the Clinic. He does regular and high risk OB stuff, so you're covered in both cases.

I've heard that Jaffe is excellent as well.

Thanks all for your input. Rockandroller--if you don't mind, just in case, what was the name of the great high-risk OB you had?

His name is Abdelaziz Saleh (pronounced suh-lah).  There are 3 high-risk OBs who are at Fairview and he is one of them.  Drs. Moodley and Shah are also in the same practice.  Moodley is the highest ranking but hardest to get scheduled to see.  Shah does not have the best bedside manner but he's ok, I saw him in the hospital when we got rear-ended when I was about 6 months along.  All three have excellent, excellent experience and skills, but Dr. Saleh is a really nice guy too.

Thanks for the info!
